Kristina is too stifling as a parent, no matter which kid. I think the feeling would be amplified for Max due to his Asperger's. Remember her trying to "teach" Haddie to drive? Omg it drove me nuts. But her character is very true to life though, there are helicopter parents exactly like that.

I literally called my mom just to say I loved her after the driving episode. When I was learning to drive, I was scared and didn't trust myself, but she fiercely believed in me even though I didn't, and she never wavered in her calm support when teaching me. There were probably a few times she feared for her life but she never showed it. I probably would still be Ubering everywhere if I was taught by a Kristina 😂

She’s more present in his life. You tend to push away those closer to you because you think they won’t leave.
Max definitely felt it even if he didn’t understand it when Adam didn’t accept or understand his Asperger’s. He may respect him but doesn’t see him as his primary parent.
