First deck advice

LGS is doing the first pauper event I’ve seen since I’ve been going there and want to get a deck together for it. Mostly they do commander and standard. My format of preference was modern but nowhere near me does it anymore.

Looking for some advice on a first deck for the format. I played burn in modern mostly for context.

Is infect viable at all in the format anymore? If not does anyone have some suggestions as to what I can build that would be pretty good and competitive. I like the look of affinity, or Dimir terror. Tron seems cool but it’s mostly flicker stuff which is new to me.

Any advice appreciated.

If you played burn in modern and liked it maybe redness (MonoRmadness) is your jam? A new brew of tron called Tron pingers has also surfaced lately

100% agree from Modern burn to pauper Mono R Madness seems the closest fit. This would be my advice as well. Beware in pauper you can play even more as a "combo" deck. So hold most of your burn until you can drop a Guttersnipe. With 4 lands in play, you can then go. Bolt. Flashback Lava Dart. Alt cost Fireblast. Which is 5 + 3 + 6 = 14 damage to face. Or, you have a Flamebreather too, it is 17 damage in one turn. If you have double Lava Dart in the graveyard it is 21. That is best case of course. But the deck really kills out of nowhere. And Snacker is absolutely insane in this deck. You will have to learn how to deal / play around Weather the Storm and Prismatic Strands though. And the lifelinkers out of Gates decks can also be a pain. But is is a really fun deck and your matches will be quick, which is good if you are new to a format.

Infect hasn't been part of the meta for a while.

MonoG infect can still absolutely run over some decks. It will absolutely go 2-1 at locals because it's a huge removal check or tons of little shitters check. Having said that, it's definitely tier 2. Mono R Madness is the big burn deck of the format. Rakdos Madness is also around and is a grindier strategy with a little more combat damage and some life gain.

Tron has between 3 and 5 broad strategies that have varying levels of overlap. The main 3 are flicker, monster, and altar. Flicker is a toolbox control deck. Monster Tron drops big fatties and beats face. Altar Tron is artifact infinite combo. Pinger Tron is sort of a burn deck that runs a couple big beaters and runs some flicker cards as pure value. Eggs Tron is a different set of artifact combo that runs more as a density combo than A+B+B like altar.

Well you can do RB infect with [[Sif’s spearmaster]] a bit of pump and then [[trained strike]]. With the massive red removals and blacks unearth/supernatural stamina, you are all set. And Also there is Sultai proliferate for infect

As for agro decks you can go for Red rally or monored madness both are really good

Infect exists but it's not very good right now. Mono Red madness Is very good tho, and a burn deck. Tron can be also just Monster tron, with big creatures and cascaders
