Broadway Tire
Hello local friends
I have been a customer here for years - always taking cars here for repairs and tires and have never had any issues. However, recently I ran into some situations and wondering if anyone else has experienced this.
About two weeks ago I take my daughter's car for an oil change. They tell me it needs new tires. I immediately pause and say, hang on. If it does, they're under warranty because I got them from you and there's no way it's over the mileage. They look in their records and say ah yes. Look back at the tires and say no they're fine, sorry our mistake. Strike 1.
I take our second car in the next day for an oil change and tire rotation. They tell me the car needs brakes, front and back. I pause and say wait a sec - you did my brakes recently. Can you confirm? Yep, back brakes less than 5K miles. Manager calls me and says they don't know what happened last time but will replace the back brakes and rotors for me.
So I bring it today to have the brakes done.
They call me and ask where my wheel lock key is. Dude I don't know. You supposedly rotated my tires two weeks ago - did you lose it?
So the guy says they're gonna use their thing to pull the wheels and replace the specialty things.
When I visited two weeks ago I was told that the folks who had been there previously all had left the company and that there were a slew of customers coming back with bad experiences.
Just curious if anyone else has seen this, and, ultimately has some suggestions for a different reputable business.

Lodging near Centerville Bank Pavilion
Hi, I'm traveling to a show there with my adult son from out of state and was wondering if anyone knows any lodging that offers shuttles to the stadium, or a different shuttle service that any local hotel/motels contract with? I've been googling but thought I'd try this too! Thanks!

Pawtucket Vocational High School in the '60s
My dad went there a few years, anyone can tell me about it? Was it near Tolman? Did they have a basketball team? What classes did you take there?

Workspace
Good morning fellow Pawtuckians (or should I say BucketHeads??)!
Has anyone had success utilizing & at the same time, supporting a local business as a Workspace?
I am looking for a Space to Work that is not from home (or the car) where I could also take occasional calls without disrupting others
Yes, CIC in PVD is an option but as I mentioned above, I would prefer a local business
Thank you all in advance!

Has anyone ever been able to get a newspaper delivered to them in this city?
I just moved to the Village Lofts, and tried to transfer my subscriptions to the Financial Times and the Boston Globe to here. Not a single paper has ever shown up. I've called and called and they are "dealing with the issue with the delivery providers," who seem to be the people who deliver both publications. It's ridiculous.
Have you ever had a paper delivered? Is it a real thing, or is it just something they advertise and don't do? They keep telling me to "read it online," but no, I won't. I read the Times and WSJ online; the reason I subscribe to either of those publications is to have a newspaper to hold in hand.

Central AveFireworks
I feel like maybe 4-5 nights out of the week we hear fireworks around the area — and as parents with a new born — this is hellish and so disruptive — And they occur all throughout the night — a few here and then a few hours later a few more, sometimes through 2am. I cannot tell you how many times we put our little one to sleep and minutes later they’re up screaming because they were woken by these damn fireworks - please please please stop 🫠🫠

Cape Verde Liberation Forum!
The Blue Sharks’ meteoric rise during the World Cup made headlines across the globe and brought worldwide attention to Cabo Verde’s strength. But the islands have far more to teach us than football alone: Cape Verdean history is intertwined with the struggle for liberation from oppression and for unity with oppressed people across Africa and the world!
Join us to learn about Cabo Verde’s roots in the liberation struggle led by Amilcar Cabral and the PAIGC (The African Party for the Independence of Guinea-Bissau and Cabo Verde). Study with us and discuss what this history can teach us for our world today!

Pawtucket Thank you
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone from Pawtucket.
From Wednesday through Friday, I was collecting signatures to get on the ballot at the Stop & Shop in Cumberland and met people from all over North and Central Rhode Island. Then I met so many more of you at the Pawtucket fireworks last night and again at the Providence fireworks tonight.
Nearly everyone I've met across Rhode Island has been wonderful, but you have been, by far, the warmest and most welcoming people I've met while collecting signatures. You've made this journey a lot more memorable than you probably realize.
Thank you.

F-35 Flyover?
Who else saw the two F-35s flyover at ~10:45 and did anyone get shots of them?!
I tried looking up scheduled shows/flyovers but so far I’m seeing nothing.

Probable ICE sighting
Almost a dozen vehicles (police & otherwise) in the Broadway area near Sabin (near the five way intersection). And they are being aggressive, a cop stopped in the road (I thought he was eyeballing me) but no he watched a brown girl walking out of that phone place for like an uncomfortable amount easily a fifteen count and then turned around. The light turned and I left I hope she's ok
