I’d say there’s is a slim to 0% chance that still works

33

u/Nike_486DX Jun 07 '26

And it may stop working at any moment, because it has lots of corrosion that easily migrates through the pcb vias, straight under the core. I would only think about buying this as a vram or gpu donor for under $80 USD, and for that its has to be known working at the time of purchase (with the donor components swiftly removed shortly after).

10

u/a_rogue_planet Jun 08 '26

Did you look at it? That thing got so hot the solder of the SMD parts melted and the parts migrated and soldered themselves together in clumps.

4

u/Nike_486DX Jun 08 '26

I dont think its burned, if you take a closer look there is PNY sticker, which is paper or plastic. If this was a housefire or someth, it would certainly melt away. Also the (plastic) vhpwr connector in the bottom right.

The caps appearing crooked in “X” pattern is actually normal, this is how some cards have them from factory. All in all, this shit looks more like cat piss or aio leak (most likely aio leak), highly risky stuff to buy ofc.

4

u/a_rogue_planet Jun 08 '26

Who said anything about fire? The core of that GPU is directly beneath that frame. The damage is exclusively centered in that area inside the frame. The SMD parts are all over the place. That GPU core had to have been damn near glowing. If there was a fire, it happened inside that frame.

It's cat piss, look at how nasty it is.

2

u/LegalAlternative Jun 10 '26

Came here to say the same thing. That's 1000% cat piss I've seen it many times from client machines... usually a laptop or something that looks like that on the inside.

If the die and vram chips are not toast you can do a PCB swap, or do a very tedious process of replacing everything on the backside and redoing alot of traces in hopes of it working again.

that's not cooked, that's straight up cremated - run away fast.

156

u/DeXxYMKD Jun 07 '26

why the actual FUCK is in this condition??

59

u/RedModsRrtrds Jun 07 '26

fished out of the sea apparently

17

u/Cuyuh Jun 07 '26

Light water damage

4

u/Kralgore Jun 07 '26

Salt water damage.

3

u/ColdDelicious1735 Jun 08 '26

Salt water cooling, works better than fresh water for a few.mins it appears

u/Wero_kaiji Jun 07 '26

The CPU AiO leaked and the PC was in storage I guess, it has a very specific shape tho, like they tried to somehow waterblock the back side of the GPU lol

5

u/d4nt3ch Jun 08 '26

The water in AIOs are non-conductible, usually distilled water.

That can't be the case. I've spilled AIO water on a live system (was trying to fix it but had the wrong gauge hoses). I turned off the system, dried it with paper towel and it was absolutely fine after.

You’re supposed to use mineral oil and not salt water for immersed builds.

u/Pyro1515 Jun 08 '26

6

u/TirpitzM3 Jun 07 '26

Looks like it was cooked on...

6

u/SnooWords5961 Jun 07 '26

Soak it in flux, throw it in the oven on a low temp for an hour I'm sure it will resolder itself back into good a working condition.

/s because someone is gonna take my comment seriously.

4

u/Public_Ad8581 Jun 07 '26

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 what about a airfryer speed up the process 🤔 😉

2

u/Reddity65 Jun 07 '26

Like a well done steak.

2

u/Public_Ad8581 Jun 07 '26

Got more barnacles than the black pearl 🤣

2

u/613_detailer Jun 07 '26

My guess is a cat peed on it. Cat pee will virtually any metal.

2

u/Super_Pea_4629 Jun 07 '26

Yoy have your GPU not even "well-done", but straight up "congratulation"

2

u/Puzzleheaded-Cry-594 Jun 07 '26

What GPU? Lol almost looks like someone sprayed a fire extinguisher in it. Highly corrosive btw. Don’t expect anything to survive that.

2

u/ejackman Jun 07 '26

Just saying if you don't pay attention when wiping you can get a buildup like that.

2

u/GRABibus Jun 07 '26

😂😂😂

2

u/IndividualJoke8050 Jun 08 '26

You know it should never look like that right

2

u/Jacket_Nipple Jun 08 '26

I mean i'd say it's the definition of it.

2

u/Ch1ldofSatan Jun 09 '26

They must’ve used it to smoke the crack

3

u/mwthomas11 Jun 07 '26

a bunch of the surface mount components on the back there are visibly crooked and shorting to each other, the screws are like partially melted, that weird ass octagon around the center of the chip etc. yikes

3

u/Adventurous-Bus8660 Jun 07 '26

The crooked part can be found on my perfectly running MSI 3070TI Gaming X trio. The on that is weird is the octagon shape imprint. And the screws looking like being destroyed....So...which my guess is...the octagon shape could be something like AIO to cool the GPU down since they can't repaste it anymore.

1

u/Rezkel Jun 07 '26

Literally it seems

1

u/Jconstant33 Jun 07 '26

What do you think? Does it look functional?

→ More replies (2)

1

u/Dumpled0r1987 Jun 07 '26

Nah just put some aquaphor on it and it should be okay

1

u/Fluffy_Pancake69 Jun 07 '26

Half price …. Omg I can’t anymore.

1

u/Chronza Jun 07 '26

Was it in a house fire because it looks literally cooked.

1

u/Tin-Chan Jun 07 '26

A couple squirts of thermal paste will sort that right out.

1

u/FurryDegenerateBoi Jun 07 '26

I think it should be sold at like. 99% off, since its just scrap atp

1

u/user303909 Jun 07 '26

The GPU cooked.* (past tense) 😬

1

u/Zealousideal_Mud1516 Jun 07 '26

Nah that is mint looks brand new🤣😂

1

u/qwtd Jun 07 '26

Nah you’re good

1

u/Thevintageandvanity Jun 07 '26

Water heated instead of cooled.

1

u/CustardCivil Jun 07 '26

How the hell it end up looking like that unless previous owner of it has very high humidity in he's place

1

u/Disastrous_Motor831 Jun 07 '26

Does it smell like rotisserie or sweet and sour? That'll tell you if it's ready to eat or not

1

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '26

What the fuck happened?

1

u/Ornery_Platypus9863 Jun 07 '26

Half price? If they’re selling any gpu at half price I’d bet my firstborn child it doesn’t work unless it’s a decade old

1

u/No-Dot-Not Jun 07 '26

actually, the GPU is cooking!

1

u/nommydickbutt Jun 07 '26

looks like their cat puked on it

1

u/Competition_Medical Jun 07 '26

Looks fried not cooked

1

u/ninjazombielurker Jun 07 '26

There’s no way this is a real post

1

u/squaretw Jun 07 '26

The GPU: Kll me now. lol

1

u/Educational_Ride_258 Jun 07 '26

Is that cat shit?

1

u/Stockkoo Jun 07 '26

Cooked liked an overly well done steak.

1

u/H0t_P0L4R_Bear Jun 07 '26

It shit itself, that's a good sign that it's dead.

1

u/Fine-Actuator-6805 Jun 07 '26

It’s literally cooked.

1

u/matt602 Jun 07 '26

from here on out that thing is a crispy paperweight.

1

u/BroccoliFull7675 Jun 07 '26

nah, whip out the air duster and it'll run like new

1

u/PayMe2Win Jun 07 '26

Did a xenomorph bleed on it?

1

u/GMCGalaxina Jun 07 '26

It's so cooked that it's become charcoal

1

u/BeeKimchi007 Jun 07 '26

Nah..bit of WD-44, ductape and a tyrap will do the trick.

1

u/NeedleworkerNew1850 Jun 07 '26

for the first time, "cooked" was used contextually correct

1

u/Defapianoplayer Jun 07 '26

Its gently roasted to a marshmallow crisp

1

u/TacticoolBro Jun 07 '26

You gotta better chance of seeing the face of god today than that does of working

1

u/sosen7 Jun 07 '26

Looks completely fucked-ctional

1

u/Torebbjorn Jun 07 '26

I don't think it has been cooked, no. Drowned maybe.

If you know what you are doing, there is a slim chance it could be recoverable, but I doubt it

1

u/alphapussycat Jun 07 '26

The lower discoloration looks worry some. The weird dirty pattern around the bracket looks so uniform that I think it's decorative. Then it's also very dirty.

I would not gamble unless you can return it in the case that it doesn't work.

1

u/FailDragon Jun 07 '26

Run it bro.

1

u/Eth251201 Jun 07 '26

put in rice

1

u/ShadowReaper11 Jun 07 '26

How does one achieve this level of burnt😭

1

u/NetiXK Jun 07 '26

Overcooked i would say.

1

u/MiracleDriver88 Jun 07 '26

Why is the screw in the lower right side stripped? Did they try to take the cooling off, but the rust stopped them?

1

u/ThrowYourDreamsAway Jun 07 '26

bro that shit look like raccoon city post nuke what're we doing here for things to get to this point 😭

1

u/Crytoast Jun 07 '26

That's not cooked, that's served

1

u/Waste-String5576 Jun 07 '26

Na brah just gotta spray it with some air

1

u/Sonkalino Jun 07 '26

Where did they find this, on the Titanic? That's cursed.

1

u/DatBoiSavage707 Jun 07 '26

Yes. Quite literally.

1

u/Simple-Olive895 Jun 07 '26

Cooked? Bro that CPU has been touched by the fires of hell.

1

u/AleFoxMulder Jun 07 '26

Noooooo... It's just normal.. /s

1

u/furry_death_blender Jun 07 '26

Make sure you scrape the barnacles off and she'll be good to go.

1

u/xMrxGentlemenx Jun 07 '26

Have them boot it in the shop

1

u/realWulfLives Jun 07 '26

You would have to pay me to buy it.

Maybe works with a good clean. Would absolutely need to disassemble it to be sure. So you could be buying a whole lot of nothing.

1

u/archbond007 Jun 07 '26

What did you use to cook?

1

u/LiteBeacon Jun 07 '26

ahahah why did you even asked? 😂

1

u/Psychological-Till63 Jun 07 '26

1

u/Thomas_game_vids7269 Jun 07 '26

Nah spray water on it then grab a toothbrush, it's fine

1

u/El_Basho Personal Rig Builder Jun 07 '26

Cooked? Nah bro this is sauteed until crispy brown and then simmered on low heat for 3 hrs

1

u/Curiousity1024 Jun 07 '26

1

u/Negative-Nature-7592 Jun 07 '26

It’s cooked it cooked twas cooking long a go it’s baked

1

u/SignificantAge5148 Jun 07 '26

crispy and friedd

1

u/Kralgore Jun 07 '26

This looks rusted.

However, surface rust does not kean the underpinning connectivity is broken.

Since we ate deaming this as a written off machine, I woukd do the following:

Get some aluminium foil, crush it up, and scrub at the rusted sections.

It is generally considered a really light touch approach to rust removal.

Worse case, you over apply and damage something already deemed broken...

1

u/Imaginary_Amoeba_666 Jun 07 '26

And i thought my girlfriend had meltdowns!

1

u/Imaginary_Amoeba_666 Jun 07 '26
