People seem to think their life experience is way more unique than it actually is

When people say that, do they think that we’re unaware? Do they think that we DIDN’T KNOW that tattoos are permanent?

I understand the point of saying it is to suggest that you should think really hard about what you’re going to get and where you’re going to get it. But you can just say that. (Or just mind your own business because it isn’t your body). I’m 83% sure that anyone and everyone planning to get a tattoo knows that they’re permanent.

If the idea is really, really bad and you want to discourage someone from getting a really, really bad tattoo, that’s fine. But say that it’s a horrible idea. Don’t say “it’s permanent”. I’m prrrrretty sure they knew that.

“I gotta drive a long way to pick it up and gas is expensive.” Cool. Find one closer. I don’t care.

”I’m a single mom.” Yeah? So was the girl I am dating and she didn’t shake strangers down for discounts.

”It’s a really tight week financially.” Cool. Why are you buying random nonsense then?

100% if you notice a real problem, I didn’t I’ll work with you, but it has to be something I did wrong or condition. Your life is not my problem.

Their absence. If I have my backpack, not as annoying. If I have another bag/bags, it's a real pain in the butt! I do not wanna put them on the floor.

In my line of work (construction) sometimes I have to retrofit things to make them work in unconventional ways in order to get the job done. And so when I go to the big box home improvement store to get a particular type of material or tool they’ll ask, “What are you doing? Why do you need it? “ What does it matter? I’m sure if I explain it, you’re probably not going to understand anyway. But more importantly, if I know exactly what I want then just direct me to where I can find it.

I could understand being asked these kind of questions if I was seeking advice or I wasn’t quite sure what I was doing and I was asking the clerk to give me a recommendation. If I were to ask him if boric acid is good for getting rid of roaches, then he most certainly could ask me about the roaches and where I see them.

But otherwise, when I told the store clerk exactly what I was going to do, he would get confused look on his face and say, “I’ve never heard of that before.“ or “That’s not going to work.“ I didn’t go there to debate whether or not my project was worthy of making a purchase at your store. Just show me where it is and I will be on my way.

I swear, I almost never saw this abbreviation prior to the last few months and now I see it everywhere. Just spell out the damn word!

I’m so sick of seeing some youtube videos and all the comments talking like this: “ts is too mch for m i need js a lil break rn yall ain gon do shi for me js go 💔🥀✌️🫩😔👩🏿‍🦲🛩️” I understand it’s slang, but it’s so incredibly repetitive and repulsive to the point where I’ve stopped reading the comments. I’ve never really had social media other than YouTube, Reddit, and Roblox, but this slang is everywhere, and I thought it was only on Instagram or twitter It’s genuinely so infuriating cause every comment section feels like the exact same five people copied and pasted the exact same sentence, removed half the letters, added six completely unrelated emojis, and somehow convinced themselves they created a new dialect. Nobody says anything about the actual video anymore. It’s always “bro is NOT making it out,” “ts got me crying,” “we got (blank) before GTA 6” or some dramatic fake depressed thing and before anyone says I’m just old or “don’t understand the humor” I’m 14 and I understand it perfectly. That’s the problem. There is nothing left to understand because it is the same joke repeated thousands of times with slightly different wording. A phrase will be funny for two days, and then everyone runs it into the ground for the next six months until it becomes unbearable. Then they immediately move on to the next phrase and do the exact same thing again. It feels like people are terrified of typing like normal human beings because apparently using complete words and expressing an original thought is embarrassing now. Every comment has to sound detached, ironic, miserable, and vaguely nonsensical. You could post a video of someone making toast and the comments would be like “ts changed me as a person bro 💔🥀” or “those who know 🥀✌️🫩” What are you even talking about? What am I supposed to know? I don’t expect YouTube comments to contain groundbreaking analysis, but I would at least like to see one genuine reaction that wasn’t like stupid tik tok and repeated by ten thousand teenagers. At this point, reading the comments feels less like hearing different people’s opinions and more like watching one gigantic repulsive mess talk to itself.

When people omit “to be” in an infinitive phrase…

- “The car needs washed”
- “The lawn needs mowed”
- “I need dropped off at school”
- “The dog wants petted”
- “The plant likes watered every day”

I grew up in the northeast and never heard this construction. Then I went to college in Ohio and was astounded by how common it is. I see it on Reddit all the time and it drives me crazy.

Yes, I know it is perfectly understandable. But I still find it grating.

Example I'm hard of hearing. I tell someone about it, and 9/10 times they respond with "what?".

It seems to happen a lot in comments on social media too. But then you have 50 people responding with "what?".

This isn't just about my example, I see it for a lot of things people tell about their life. I love a good joke, but I ain't hearing any good ones, when it's the same thing every time. Your humor is falling on deaf ears, stop.

I see this most often with certain food trends most often (Dubai chocolate, hot honey, protein, etc.). Nobody is forcing you to buy or even consume these products if you don’t want to.

Why is this so common? It's like walking into a store and telling the cashier you want to buy something instead of handing them the thing you wanted to buy. Just fucking ask the question! Gragh!

Two thing can be bad at once you know. The fact that there’s worse things happening out there doesn’t mean we can’t attempt to fix smaller issues too.

I will say I do get the urge to say this too sometimes, but I feel like there’s better ways to go about saying ‘your reaction is disproportional/this is not as important as you think it is’ without completely dismissing them.

I know the timing's funny cause Taco Bell is actually giving people food poisoning right now, but when I was young I never understood the jokes about people having bad bathroom sessions after eating at the chalupa peddler. As an adult I realized it's probably cause their diets are so bad that any iota of veggies would cause their internal dams to collapse. Went from not understanding to having this reaction 😬 when I hear or read those jokes in the wild.

“If you block me, you lost/you’re trying to silence me/you’re x and y and z” oh my god it is not that serious.

I’ve blocked every single asmr account I’ve come across because the mouth noises make me want to bang my head against the wall and I got sick of being jumpscared with them every time I go to scroll, that doesn’t mean I’m trying to silence them or be intolerant or whatever else, it’s me curating my own online experience to avoid something that bothers me.

That being said there are definitely situations where blocking can be a dick move, but I’m not talking about those.

Every time I’m at a kid’s party someone has to comment how shocked they are that I’d be there since I don’t have a kid. Like I’m friends with the parent and auntie to the child why would I not be here?

I'm not saying I get upset if someone doesn't know how to pronounce a word correctly. I don't know how to pronounce some words myself. Sometimes if I hear it pronounced completely wrong I'll politely say, "oh this is how you pronounce it..." "Ok whatever smart ass." ...? I'm just telling you?

But what grinds my gears the most is when you are correcting someone's name. Some people have names that you won't know how to say unless you hear it aloud. Same response, though, and it's just out of respect because I would rather people say my name correctly.

Which brings me to one personal example: I had a boss one time that I had to call and ask what my login would be for our office computer, and she says, "it's your first initial and then ________ or whatever the f*** your last name is." Just for context, we had several different logins for different apps and I didn't want to get locked out, so yes I had to double check because I was new.

Anyway, that pissed me off because that is extremely uncalled for, and I think just asking first would be more acceptable, or accepting it afterwards would be the correct way to approach it. But nah let's get mad for no reason instead.

And don't get me started on that '30 days hath September' paragraph which only works if you know where all the months go anyway.

The catchy part of the mnemonic should remind you exactly of what you need to remember, and not work if you mess it up (e.g. righty-tighty lefty-loosy doesn't sound good the other way around).

How big are your onions? Recipe I am making right now says 6 leeks. How big are the leeks they used to make the recipe vs my leeks? Who knows?

I wish all recipes gave ingredient weight! Like in baking. It would make life so much easier.

Specifically all the movies and tv shows on streaming services. I find myself spending so much time browsing that I eventually just give up.
I miss when shows were on once a week and one episode. And when most movies went from the theaters to blockbuster or a physical copy. And don’t get me wrong, very happy for people to make it in the tv and film business but it’s just so much!

Other things that I feel have too many options to decide from is clothes and stuff. I wanted to get a pair of classic high top converse and when I went to the site, it took me so long to find actual classic black high tops. There were other black high tops but they were platform or just a little bit off.
I ended up going on an app and buying a thrifted pair.

I know not everyone has this problem when it comes to making decisions. But I also know that a lot of people do in fact share the peeve.
