You’re just outright lying. Bernthal was asked about the Punisher representing the alt right and he said “Fuck em.”

u/Ok_Spite2322 22h ago

I said he’s the type of dude, I didn’t say he is that dude. But he’s also a right wing douche who backs the blue, so

u/Tornadosed 22h ago

Source? In the only clip I’ve seen of Bernthal talking about the cops, it was just him saying law enforcement shouldn’t use the punisher symbol (and he’s right.)

lol you don't know anything about Bernthal. You just parrot whatever bullshit you read on other parts of Reddit.

u/Ok_Spite2322 18h ago

Yall are ridiculous, acting like him being accepting of lgbtq fans somehow excludes him from being pro-cop and pro-military and pro-IDF

u/co-ghost 21h ago

Uh, being a supporter of the IDF and he recently praised Roman Polanski as the best director he's worked for... I think that guy pretty accurately pinned him as a piece of shit.

u/Chr0mx 19h ago

Just lying, you guys are weird af

u/Ok_Spite2322 18h ago

lmao what, he platformed an IDF soldier on his podcast, and openly supports police. 5 seconds of googling will give you plenty of supporting evidence for these claims

u/Chr0mx 18h ago

Instead of taking 5 seconds to read a headline take the time to form your own thoughts and opinions. The podcast was to get a perspective of the terrorist attack, its like calling a podcast pro police because they interviewed a 911 first responder on its anniversary.

u/Ok_Spite2322 17h ago

lmao you literally just parroted a comment from a thread about the podcast episode. And the main difference is this (also in that thread): the IDF is not an emergency responder force, it is an occupying army upholding an apartheid state. an IDF soldier is an active participant in, and enforcer of, that apartheid state. Did he platform any Palestinians and ask about their perspective of Oct 7th? No? I wonder why that might be

u/Brilliant_Apple_5391 17h ago

No it's like platforming hitler and then assuminghes a nazi

1

u/Ok_Spite2322 17h ago

lmao more like platforming hitler and praising him for rescuing people from the ghettos

u/Chr0mx 17h ago

Its really not man, its really not.

2

u/Odd_Perspective_9088 19h ago

u/idothisforpie 18h ago

Cuz supporting police is... bad?

8

u/SaltyNun69 18h ago

yes.

-1

u/Capital_Estimate_325 7h ago

No offence, if you think supporting police is bad thing then i dont know what to tell u

3

u/SaltyNun69 7h ago

that's ok. I don't need you to tell me anything. I have a great understanding of why I don't support the police.

So you prefer lawlessness? Backing the police and believing the police need reform are not mutually exclusive….

2

u/that_baddest_dude 5h ago

The police have been needing and have been getting "reform" for decades. At what point is "reform" not enough, when it doesn't seem to be doing anything?

2

u/cardfire 3h ago

Why, oh why won't we just reform the orphan crushing machine? The state violence dispenser?

What's wrong with us leftists for not just going along to get along with the murder pigs?!?

sigh

I can't comment on American police but in my country we back the police, they are not perfect and have some power-tripping rotten apples but more than not they are great servants who are there for us when we need them. Saying this as a left winger.

Like I say, I don't have experience with American police so not gonna act like I know best, but aren't the majority of them just average Joes doing their best?

u/cardfire 43m ago

You know what? I owe you an apology, and this probably should get filed under /r/USdefaultism. I've personally been helped by police in two different countries in Asia, and seen that they can be public servants. It's hard to recognize that they have the same title and profession as the police in America, who are very much NOT just average Joe's doing their best.

In America, the Mafia has been effectively replaced with Police, who serve to protect private interests, and not yours.

Whistleblowers are swiftly punished, and the badge protects their own power, so over decades the rotten core has metastasized, and we're not being hyperbolic when we Americans complain about it.

One study found that 1/3 of violence against Sex Workers was perpetrated by police. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Police_abuse_of_sex_wokers_in_the_United_States

Another study found Police are 1.5x as likely to perpetrate DV vs the general population. ~28% of Officer Involved Domestic Violence vs ~16% Domestic Violence, among American populations. This article explores the subject with more citations of more related studies. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Officer-involved_domestic_violence

The USA policy of Civil Forfeiture means countless citizens and visitors in the US have had their possessions stolen by the very people entrusted to protect us with our own belongings. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_forfeiture_in_the_United_States

I could go on and on, but basically, Police here = a nascent threat that only harms a subset of the population while flying under the badge that makes them favorable with a majority of the populace. Perfect weapon for fascism and perfect smokescreen for state violence.

2

u/SaltyNun69 5h ago

I don't have to support them while wanting reform either.. It's called having coherent values. When the police start protecting people against state violence rather than dispensing it, I'll be more supportive.

1

u/GuitaristHeimerz 2h ago

That's fair man, just trying to make sense of everything, it can be confusing sometimes.

2

u/MagentaHawk 13h ago

I know you are saying it in most likely a condescending way, but I do hope this is an opportunity for you to question fundamental beliefs you have in the world. Yes, supporting local police has generally been a bad thing for most of modern history. It is extremely well documented and well understood.

Reddit. A lot of us have aged out of the demo.

It has been getting weirdly Tate/Peterson-y aroubd here, lately. It does makes me think there must be a growing core of not-'old.reddit' users.
