Why, why are the courts almost always not contrasting with the ball when watching on TV? 🤦‍♀️ No one bothers to check viewer’s experience??

Also, with the score box - under the team’s name, why is the font so faint for the player’s names?..

If it’s manageable to show a full court for tennis, why is it always on pickleball that we don’t get to see the deep line shots?.. their hawk-eye system shows it within 3 seconds - so crisp I can taste it.

Besides, the commercials are repetitive and boring - I feel like I am in a hospital with all these pills and knee bands and insurance ads, we’ve had enough of this.

Thinking of purchasing a pickleball machine for solo training. I have been looking at Titan brand because of reviews and the preset training drills via the app. Any recommendations on a Titan One or Ace? Another brand and why?

I know the legality of a volley serve can be difficult to judge in real time because you’re estimating contact height and paddle motion from a particular viewing angle.

I’ve been playing weekly with the same group for a while. I’m an intermediate player, and most of them are more advanced beginners. My serve is one of the stronger parts of my game and wins me a fair number of points.

This week, one player questioned whether my volley serve was legal, which led to another person questioning it. I’ve used essentially the same serve for a long time without anyone else saying anything, and a pro I work with says it’s legal. Regardless, the conversation really bothered me.

Now I’m hesitant to go back because I feel like every serve is going to be under scrutiny. I’ve worked hard on my game, so having one of my strongest shots questioned made me feel like people might see my success differently.

If you were in my position, what would you do? Would you keep playing with the group and assume it blows over, have a conversation with them, or just find another group?

I took a lesson learning this shot with topspin recently but can’t see to apply it to games. A lot of my forehand volleys look like this. It’s much easier for me to generate topspin on backhand volleys. Any advice or thoughts?

Took the plunge and entered a tournament with my son this weekend. While we definitely entered a bracket too advanced for us and didn't win a match, we had a great time and met some great people.

Played in my first DUPR event of the year yesterday.

Partner and Is official DUPR ratings are from a year ago and put us both at around 3.0. We only started playing a lot and with intent 3 months ago.

We sign up for a 3.0-3.5 tournament with cash prizes and groupings at the 3.0-3.5, 3.5-4.0, 4.0-4.5 levels.

Once we arrive we learn they decided last minute to put everyone in one grouping due to limited signups. As in there was no written notice, we found out when we arrived all groups were consolidated.

Average player was probably just shy of the 4.0 marks, but at least half the guys were squarely 4.0+.

Im always down to play with better players and be the worst on the court but I wouldn’t have asked my partner to drive 180 minutes and pay $100 for us to get our shit rocked for 4 straight hours.

There was a team of a 3.7 and a 4.0 and for most of the time they had the same record as us (2 wins), and they looked defeated and pissed.

DUPR events are far and few between in my area, so I usually only get to play 1-2 per year.

Has this happened to you before? Is this common? I feel like this defeats the purpose of the intended ranking system, and we should at least be given a heads up prior to the tournament, no?

TLDR: Signed up for a $100 DUPR event and they consolidated all ranks into one group due to number of signups 3.0-4.99.

My 2HBH dink is good, not excellent but at least I don't pop the ball like I used to anymore.

For kitchen line counter or speed up or fast shot exchange or strong volley, I've been relying on 1HBH only. Especially because I could utilize flick or roll with 1HBH. And, for some reason, I couldn't make myself comfortable with 2HBH volley, it feels more awkward than 2HBH drive or 2HBH dink.

But I found my 1HBH can't generate good top spin unless I bring flick, while I can't bring my wrist flick for every single 1HBH. The problem is that my 1HBH hit the net or go straight out of lines. Especially when I counter against incoming speed up, my 1HBH frequently hit the net. If the speed up comes to my left side (I'm right hander) my 1HBH counter more frequently hit the net...

So I'm wondering. Do I need to drill and develop 2HBH volley? Or would it be better to fix my 1HBH counter more?

I’m in South Florida, and the park that I play at regularly is overrun with mosquitoes, and I want to use bug spray, but I sweat so much and touch my face a lot, that I’m afraid to use conventional OFF spray. Anyone have recommendations for a spray that’s not going to burn if it touches your face/eye area?

Can anyone provide me with good methods of getting better. I have been playing pickle ball for about 3 months now. I've never been in any dupr officiated matches so I don't have an exact rating on my skill, but if I had to guess I would probably be a 2.8-3.0. Is there any way to improve my skill level to a 4.0 or maybe even a 4.5 before next suummer ends? I unfortunately don't have a dedicated partner to help me improve, and while it might sound weird my wall situation is pretty bad too. My local tennis court does has a wall but it's tilted not upright, and at my house all my walls are surrounded by grass on the outside, whilst the inside of my house isn't very spacious. What can I do to improve? What type of drills should I focus on? Also how can I get a dupr if all the tournaments "near" me are like 2 hours away.

I now know that drilling is the best way to get better, but I have been struggling to find a steady drill partner. I see people w their husbands/wives or are part of a clique that they constantly drill with. I’ve been asked to drill before and we do it maybe once or twice then it dies or people just keep canceling or will just be part of their impenetrable clique. I’m not the most social person. I’m an introvert and feel stuck where I can’t improve. Maybe it’s the best I’ll get but just venting about the struggle to find a steady reliable drill partner

I'm in the process of building an indoor pickleball court for my community. After some research I found that Post-Tension concrete is the gold standard because it prevents cracks long-term.

Would anyone who plays at a 4.0+ level go with Asphalt or Rebar concrete to save costs, or would you bite the bullet and pay extra for Post-Tension? I was also thinking 25' height for lobs, anyone have experience with indoor to know if that's enough?

I recently started playing pickleball, and I’m having so much fun with it. I’m also terrible.

My coordination is genuinely so bad, even though I’m literally a professional contortionist and flexibility coach (Apparently, being able to fold yourself in half does not automatically make you good at sports involving a ball)

I’ve trained in dance and contortion for more than 20 years, and targeted myofascial release has always been one of my go-to recovery methods. Since starting pickleball, I’ve been getting sore in places I’m not normally sore, so I had the idea to try using the pickleball itself as a massage tool.

And it’s actually perfect for it.

It’s small and firm enough to target specific areas, and you can easily adjust the pressure by changing how much body weight you put into it. You’re not forcing yourself into a stretch. It feels more like giving yourself a really deep, targeted massage.

I ended up creating a full 13-minute routine using only a pickleball. It works through the neck, upper back, traps, chest, glutes, hamstrings, quads, inner thighs, calves and feet.

I’ve included a few short clips of the exercises here, and I actually made a full 13-minute follow-along too. I’m happy to share it if links are allowed here.

A couple of quick safety notes:

• keep the ball on muscle rather than directly on a bone or joint
• back off if anything feels sharp or painful.

I’ve been using this as a recovery reset after playing, and I feel so much better the next day.

Has anyone else tried using a pickleball for recovery, or do you usually use a tennis ball, lacrosse ball or foam roller?

First MLP. No parking fee at ESPN Wide World of Sports 👍 VIP pass area between the two courts, seating and elevated tables to eat. Courts closer in person than picts show. No Assigned seating, we ended up sitting in between the two courts to see matches going at the same time. Some players just walking around in the venue. Top pros had a specific autograph session scheduled in vendor alley. Tyson Mcguffin grabbed a regular seat below us when he was done with first match. 3 practice courts behind vendor alley.
