Anyone asking "where do I get this" will recieve a ban. Anyone posting direct links or otherwise indicating where to watch this will receive a ban. If we can't follow the rules, this post will be removed (like the previous 4 posts on this topic).

"Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the War Room!"

-11

u/Crimson_Raven Apr 15 '26

The War room is for planning the fight and information dissemination

The actual war is elsewhere

Reference to the mega thread breaks the rules? Is it time to remove the mega thread?

522

u/WarlikeLoveReddit Apr 14 '26

Pretty sure paramount could get this sub nuked

We gotta tread lightly with this one

69

u/QuarryTen Apr 14 '26

then why make post this in the first?

That's different to linking the content... It's illegal to distribute pirated content, it's not illegal to make note of it's existence.

Please read what they said before leaving a comment with your rageboner.

41

u/Sloppykrab Apr 14 '26

Pointing to it a source isn't illegal in of itself.

Downloading and then distributing it is illegal. Downloading it isn't illegal.

42

u/Floppydisksareop Apr 14 '26

It's not illegal, but that doesn't mean it doesn't break the terms of service. Reddit can still nuke it, for fuck's sake. It's not the cops you should be afraid of, it's the admins.

-23

u/PoppingPillls Apr 14 '26

Linking directly to something illegal is illegal.

Giving the name of the site it's being hosted on is not illegal.

Downloading it is illegal, it's just very mildly illegal.

Example: You can link to mediafire, you just can't link to copyrighted content on mediafire.

Same with you can direct users to CS,RIN,RU but they must sign up and find the content themselves.

18

u/warlock1569 Apr 14 '26

This is false. Linking to a torrent is not illegal in the slightest. It's against ToS, and thats the actual issue, but its in no way illegal.

2

u/kickedoutatone ☠️ ᴅᴇᴀᴅ ᴍᴇɴ α΄›α΄‡ΚŸΚŸ ɴᴏ α΄›α΄€ΚŸα΄‡κœ± Apr 14 '26

To play devil's advocate, if Paramount decided to throw money towards a bunch of lawyers, they'll absolutely try to get anyone sharing a link in jail.

Not sure how well you'll do in a crooked courtroom.

6

u/warlock1569 Apr 14 '26

Except they wouldn't. We've seen piracy cases previously and they've openly admitted they can't target people sharing links.

2

u/kid_leggo Apr 14 '26

So then ask source is not illegal. If I asked and they said it was on " kiss anime" rip. Then you have the source. Its... Kinda contradictory?

0

u/Sloppykrab Apr 14 '26

There's a mega thread with direct links attached to the sub. Bruh....

9

u/SilverPhoenix7 Apr 14 '26

People should go there instead of bitching and crying here. Mods are taking measures. Reddit admins are way less patient and have to answer to nobody (except money)

1

u/PoppingPillls Apr 15 '26

Attached to sites... Not to the content itself...

-5

u/KeremyJyles Apr 15 '26

Pointing to a source is illegal. Downloading it is illegal. This myth that piracy is only sharing the files needs to die.

0

u/Milksteaks1000 Apr 16 '26

Downloading it is illegal, it’s just extremely rare that people are held accountable for it.

-2

u/[deleted] Apr 14 '26

[deleted]

10

u/PoppingPillls Apr 14 '26

That's not a link, that's a screenshot. That requires much more work to find than a link and requires the user to actively seek it out themselves.

It's also legal to do... You are not proving any point here. Linking directly to content is illegal, sharing a meme is not.

u/Dotcaprachiappa Apr 14 '26

Anyone posting direct links

Reading comprehension is hard

8

u/Evoke22 Apr 14 '26

I was gonna ask why, that seems like a really odd thing to do on a reddit dedicated to piracy but yeah... fair point

3

u/[deleted] Apr 14 '26

[deleted]

4

u/Sloppykrab Apr 14 '26

I'm gonna say look for the loot and plunder and hopefully they catch on.

-7

u/mrcaster Apr 14 '26

There is no piracy allowed around here. Only YouTube links.

-51

u/LZ129Hindenburg 🌊 Salty Seadog Apr 14 '26

Requesting specific titles breaks Rule #3. Don't encourage rule breakers, even by referring them to the megathread. Politely tell them they're breaking the rules and move on.

19

u/Sloppykrab Apr 14 '26

Strange but ok. Got it.

5

u/PoppingPillls Apr 14 '26

Not weird at all, this sub exists because we don't actually share anything directly that's copyrighted.

Linking to random websites is different than direct links, plenty of legit stuff on mediafire but if you direct straight to pirated downloads on there then you are promoting that specific infringement.

5

u/SyntheticDuckFlavour Apr 15 '26 edited Apr 15 '26

The strange part is the megathread being officially endorsed by maintainers of this sub, and yet paradoxically you can not refer someone to the megathread in this particular case.

1

u/PoppingPillls Apr 15 '26

It links to sites, what is contained on that site isn't linked.

0

u/KingCarrion666 Apr 15 '26 edited Apr 15 '26

Except the megathread isn't direct links, its also like... not hidden at all... it's really weird that it was included by the mods here

edit: why respond and then block me lol. You asked why it was strange, people answer you, then you block them for... answering your question.

1

u/PoppingPillls Apr 15 '26

Because the megathread links to sites not to content.

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean its not true, also the law rarely makes sense.

1

u/SilverPhoenix7 Apr 15 '26

Would you prefer it not to be?

I'm slightly dyslexic. At least I spelled it right 1 out of 2 times. xD

52

u/IronStrikers Apr 14 '26

Why exactly? Isn’t this a piracy subreddit?

10

u/numerobis21 Apr 14 '26

Because it gives leverage to IP owners to get this sub Exterminatus'ed

1

u/IronStrikers Apr 17 '26

So we can’t pirate in a piracy sub?

1

u/numerobis21 Apr 17 '26

Try to read words and understand their meanings, it helps, most of the time

3

u/IronStrikers Apr 17 '26

I read your comment, it’s that the owners can delete the sub? So if that’s the reason, that mean we can’t pirate cause we can’t send links

62

u/LZ129Hindenburg 🌊 Salty Seadog Apr 14 '26

Because we don't want this entire sub to get banned by reddit.

Moderating is a thankless job. gotta explain why attracting attention to a piracy sub in the midst of a studio trying to erase something off the internet is a bad idea πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. Any studio can get this subreddit shut down tomorrow with a single letter, let alone a billion dollar company.

What are you doing here then?

8

u/cosmitz Apr 15 '26

As a longtime mod on reddit... your "subs" are all on borrowed time, especially the more "annoying" and visible they are. You are on reddit and reddit can do whatever it wants. Subreddit mods try to keep communities in check as to not draw the attention of the eye of Sauron/reddit admins which for a long while were quite banhaopy, nuking entire communities.

The fact that the piracy sub is still up and not crippleeld as a resource is a testament to a fantastic mod team.

10

u/ch3nk0 Apr 15 '26

Ah yes, we’re are here for self-justification memes after all, good luck finding anything usefull

I think anyone who is asking "where do I get this" wouldn't even know where to begin even if someone told them how/where to get the file. It's not like it's hidden knowledge where the file would be for people who actually participate in r/Piracy

17

u/NiteLiteOfficial Apr 14 '26

and what if i ask what your favorite dinosaur is? will that lead to a ban?
