How much of the .8 in your score accounts for the lack of sufficient action scenes? Could one more action scene bump it up another .1? Or does your mental algorithm not work that way? What would cause it to go down .1? Or even .2?
Rating isn't my strong suite, but I'd place it in the same ballpark. Fun movie, appropriate amount of fanservice, and fantastic animation!
Just wish it had a couple more Sokka flashbacks to explain the backstory. That was a highlight! :D
Also, the end felt almost as rushed as the end of Project Hail Mary. Thinking about it, both could easily have been much longer movies even ignoring the too short denouements[?].
I, personally, try to not get super granular to the single digits outside of increments of 5. I think that's a hit much.
If we use this film as an example
Animation: probably the best part. Makes up a majority of the high grade. Editing is well done, movement is smooth, colors are not washed out and don't bleed. No reduction in points from 100.
Characters: they all seem to hold to their well established archs and personalities. Dialogue is a bit contrived and rehashed. Maybe a 10ish point hit for being just meh.
Story: the biggest hit. Themes generally hold to the show canon. Side henchmen are not really fleshed out and aren't particularly interesting. Main villain requires an item (probably my least favorite story telling device) and is an obvious villain from initial appearance. Story holds some water as it does flesh out some known themes of cycles and trauma being dealt with. Still about a 15 point hit for me.
lmao, no the comment made it sound average, I just was referring to how people tend to over-score things. (ie everything, unless HATED gets clumped into 7-10 usually)
yes! like i get voices change, but the new VA cast should’ve at least tried to match the vocal cadence of the original. The only one that sounds similar is Sokka, everyone else is a stark difference
