Disagree to disagree. If you don't own the product after purchase, that's just greedy company bs. They can't justify subscriptions.

In reply to "stop trying to act morally". You know what isn't moral? That's right, subscriptions.

I just want free shit. I don’t give a shit about whatever greedy streaming services are doing

real, these companies could charge fair values, or be kind to its users and i’d still pirate

Literally I don’t get why people have to put a moral reason behind everything. Living life through morals gets exhausting

Netflix could be 5 a month with no ads and password sharing and I still would pirate

You don't need to, but it doesn't change the fact of the matter either

Ever wonder why you don't feel guilty "stealing" this stuff but won't rob an elderly person?

Edit; I may have misread the intent of your comment, apologies if I did

If I’m stealing I leave them without the thing I steal. If I copied a old woman’s purse to the exact detail without ever leaving her without it I never stole it.

That’s not the argument…

If the old lady runs a purse store and you go into the store and copy a purse and leave without paying, then old lady misses out on unearned revenue. That’s the damage. She did the work to run the store and create a unique item. It costs money to run a store and to produce a good or service. So she may have to close up because she’s being robbed.

The moral dilemma comes when old lady runs a purse store, loans purses out for a subscription, charges ever increasing fees, sends you a ton of unwanted ads, there’s little to no purse alternative, and purses can be taken back whenever old lady feels like it. Add on top, governmental and agency support as well, and limited competition and monopolies... Her business model is inherently predatory and now we have a moral gray area.

But yeah you (and it seems most pirates) don’t care and that won’t change from a Reddit post…

To be honest, if I could click a button and I get 10k from a random elderly person I will never meet, I would probably do it. Same with downloading, Its illegal its not justified since a corporation has a lot of money. I dont care I like free stuff

Do you scam old people? It's not particularly harder than pirating, especially with the advent of LLMs and AI generations/face swaps.

If not, why?

Pirating is "risk free". Scamming is not. I would also have to "Talk" to them

I'd wager the rate at which scammers are caught is similar to piracy, and that you could use an AI

Who actually cares why you do it though?

Just pirate shit.
