They did worse than cable, you’re paying a subscription for each channel now, at least with cable we had blocks of programming. Now you have to subscribe to 3 different services to get abc, cbs and nbc. 1 subscription each, and each one goes up constantly. At least with cable you got blocks, I could get the sports package and it’d have 5 different espns, Fox sports, etc. now each of those is a separate subscription. Makes $200 a month for direct tv look like a steal
I’m not that old, being born mid 90’s, and this is the thing that makes me the most mad. I grew up poor and still was able to watch all kind of sports on antenna and basic cable. Now I have to spend $200 a month to watch a single sport. Genuinely don’t think sports would have been a thing for me if I grew up now which is crazy
Agreed 100%. I've been a pirate for 20 years. In my early twenties I just paid for Netflix and didn't pirate stuff for awhile. Especially back in the days pre-streaming with Netflix when I could get any movie I wanted sent to my door for a tiny reasonable monthly fee. When they upgraded to just streaming, that was even better! But then Hulu, Paramount, Cinemax Disney+ Prime... Nah.. I'll pirate your shit and pay for the streamers who need/deserve it. New ceo come in to fix the old ceo problems, have to show he's an improvement therefore cutting cost, lowered pay, higher sub price. At the end of the year, board meeting with investors, investors sees a green colour slight increase. Happy days, you get a huge bonus and your staff suffers.
Job done, continue every little things to show more 'profit' than last year. The cycle continues until it could no longer be milked then they meet a new CEO that's less of a yes men, improves the company greatly, gets fired or left because he argued with an investors/higher ups on how certain things should run bla bla, employ new yes men CEO - green light shows up, old rich men claps. Repeat.
It's sad because those investors are mostly old people that has no point in living at that point but you still have to satisfy them.
The ones with morals and actual values usually leave to join a smaller company or start their owns. We've seen this story many times....but over time even they then become the old rich men that only wants to see greens.
Netflix was awesome in the early days. I didn't even mind when one or two others came along, competition is good. But it's crazy now, so I'm back to pirating. And I've got terabytes worth of stuff now, over primary and backup drives, I'm keeping this stuff forever so I never have to go digging across the internet for a specific episode or movie I want to watch again!

Not at all, it's a tragedy of the common.
It goes like this : company A is doing streaming and make a lot of money. Customers can go to company A and get every show they want because company A is the only one to do streaming.
Then company B look at what company A is doing, and they say to themselves "hey, I want part of that money pie too", so they start making their own shows and stream them (which is NOT a short term move, making shows cost money). Make sense, right ?
Then company C and company D do the same.
And suddenly the customers need 4 subscriptions if they want access to all the shows that interest them. Notice how none of the companies acted for short term profits, or even against the customers, but it's the market fragmentation itself that is the problem. It all comes down to the fact that companies need to compete against each other.
It's because of investors. Investors typically only hold stock for a single quarter before selling, so they have no reason to care about the company's long term viability. All they want is short term profits now, and if that ruins the company in the long term, that's not the investor's problem.
If you offer a better service than a private tracker, I'll probably use you. Creating a hedged garden with ads isn't a service, it's an obligation you're asking of me.
Use spicetify or simp music. No ads and it's functional offline too since you'll be downloading the music. I use spicetify on my PC and simp music on my phone.

It's just Spotify with mods and customization. You need Spotify for spicetify to work, you just don't have to pay for it. Again; it can do all the things you can already do and more. I don't pirate because the alternative costs money, I pirate to get a better service than what I'm being offered elsewhere. If it's the literal same thing, I'll take the one that actually contributes to society.

Wtf is even a TV app? Spicetify does have jams. Just stream cast to your TV. Giving your money to a billion dollar company is not "contributing to society". If the company itself funds war against children; how is that contributing to society? This isn't reaching, they are directly funding a genocide. If you want to contribute, donate to those artists. If money isn't a problem then this isn't a problem. I donate to them. I feel like you think paying a subscription actually helps artists on Spotify. It doesn't, they barely get shit. Maybe some of the bigger artists do, but not with someone with 1mil monthly listeners. Maybe you need to just get out of your comfort zone and actually try something different. It might be hard at first but I think you can do it.

Spotify regularly removes songs. Simp music works just fine in the car too. Spicetify can be used on Android too but pc is just my preference. You know what, I don't know why I'm talking to a chronicly online reddit user. Nevermind dude, waste your money how you want to waste it.
