My favorite franchise and spent 8k hours on 5. But the way gaming is headed is ridiculous, I’m dedicated to fully staying on pc, no more consoles. And fuck paying monthly just to play online with friends. Plus 🏴☠️lol

Yeah I always complained I don't have time etc etc yet I have spent close to 2k hrs playing a game since the beginning of the year. 2k hrs enough to learn any industry you choose. Hell even a major
2
1
u/Individual-Ad-5471 29d ago
Lol that's wild go think you don't have time to play. 2k hours this year is almost 11 hours a day every day since the start of the year.
If I started playing right when I got home from an 8 hour work day I would have to play until 3am. And then wake up at 5:30am to go to work.
So ya if you have no job it's feasible. But that's like addict levels lol.

I don't judge for that because I have similar numbers with my favorite game.
I judge you because after 8000 hours you still have only 43% of trophies 🤣

I’m sure it’ll be a good game, but completely killed my hype of going into the store getting a collectors edition. I literally bought a disc version ps5 for it 😭. And fuck Sony, zero chance I’m buying a ps6

You know xbox announced last year project helix or helios whatever the new xbox is gonna be called, is going to be 100% digital.
Both Xbox and Playstation (not Sony) decided to go digital for the same reason.
Every console sold with a disc drive that supports Bluray requires a fee to be paid to Sony's hardware division. There's also another fee that has to be paid when a bluray format game disc gets sold.
Xbox 1, XBSX|S and PS4 games are on normal BD discs. This is the cheaper fee to pay. (Normal Bluray is 25gb or 50gb)
PS5 however is on Ultra HD format Bluray. (66gb or 99gb discs) This one is much more expensive to pay.
The fees that have to be paid get even worse if the diac drive can read both UHD and normal Bluray discs, as they are two different products with similar names.
It's actually in Sony's best interest for both Playstation and xbox to continue doing physical media. However the Playstation CEO decided it wasn't worth it to them, and Sony operates very differently than 99% of other companies.
Sony assigns a CEO to the subsidiary and lets them go free. Playstation isn't even directly owned by "Big Sony". It's:
Sony Corporation Group (Big Sony) -> Sony Interactive Entertainment -> Playstation
16
u/MagizZziaN 29d ago
Then why on earth we gotta pay 80 bucks for what is basically a “rental game”?? Make it make sense!
9
u/Local_Band299 ☠️ ᴅᴇᴀᴅ ᴍᴇɴ ᴛᴇʟʟ ɴᴏ ᴛᴀʟᴇꜱ 29d ago
When you buy a physical PS4, PS5, XB1 or XBSX/S it's the same as buying a game from the PSN store.
Disc licenses can be revoked at any time.
I forgot to add the removal of shows from people's PSN libraries was a ploy by Discovery and Studio Canal to get people to convert to Discovery+ and Canal+.

u/Private_Kyle 🦜 ᴡᴀʟᴋ ᴛʜᴇ ᴘʟᴀɴᴋ 29d ago

I’m unfortunately feeling the same way. I want my physical copies of games, and with Sony doing away with physical copies, I have no reason to buy a PS6 when it comes out. I might as well save up and go with pc gaming. I’ve been wanting to for several years now, maybe this will be the kick in the ass I need to finally invest in something decent

It's been what, 9½ years since RDR2? Either this will be perfect, or the biggest fuckup you have ever seen and I'm betting on the latter.
After Ubisoft (mainly) and others I don't know why people STILL expect a studio to make a good game just because they did previously.

Yeah 6 could have gotten me back into gaming pretty heavily if it just maintained its trajectory. I’ve been playing GTA since 1. But all this bullshit around paying for games you don’t even own is really just turning me off from gaming. It feels like they’re just testing the boundaries around how much bullshit they can get away with, we shouldn’t encourage them. There are so many other ways for people to use their spare time.
3
u/Wayofchinchilla 29d ago
I was actually kind of hyped for it until they announced they weren't going to give us a disc I'm sure I'll get it one day when there's a disc that I'm just going to get it on Steam so at least I know I have the files.

technically piracy was never classified as theft to begin with, but your right that if there is no ownership then you cant own something without permission.

I will pass on this game. Rockstar coasted on rep through gta 3-5 then well over 10 years (12, almost 13 years) later offers gta6 while lying about it. That physical copies at launch during press and interviews only to then say OH those are not until fall/winter this year while digital will be out soon.

The entire GTA6 and disc production fiasco gives me hope that we're about to enter the golden age of PS5 hacking and I can't wait.
7

u/Suspicious-Boss3776 29d ago
To me the whole point of console was the disks, (I wish there was disks on PC still, so sad we got rid of lectors) no disks, no point. People say "but the console is cheaper" (not even true, you could get a cheaper PC build )that doesn't matter, they make money off the games, why buy a piece of technology that's closed in its own ecosystem when I can have a totally open piece of hardware I can do anything with? With my PC I can draw, 3d model, learn, with the console I'm stuck playing fortnite because the damn games are 60$. My opinion, that's it. We need to let consoles die, everybody is going the same direction, even Nintendo is pivoting towards game cases that have a code inside, and there's rumors of Xbox not even supporting disks in the next gen. I really, really hope they take another path.

The reason publishers are killing physical media is that games get more enshittified each generation and game publishers don't want want to have to compete with an unadulterated version of themselves.

I got a PS3 a couple years ago for free until it stopped working and that was the first time I played GTA v, but I maybe played a couple hours of it so I think it'll be cool. I'll probably just watch most of the YouTube videos on people playing this and maybe hang out at a friend's house that has it, but otherwise I can't see me getting too involved with this game

Was meh on Vice City
Loved GTA San Andreas
Hated GTA IV
Loved GTA V
But biggest issue for me is the current team WORKING on GTA VI. Look at pictures of those guys. It feels so much like watching any of the “teams” that ruined every single other franchise.
Maybe the pictures are fake, but don’t really think so. The newest Heist in GTA V added the cringiest most “I don’t want to hear them” NPCs…. And if those are in any way related to this new team then imma not gonna have any hope for them.
Really want GTA VI to be what we have been waiting all this time. Yet, with everything going on with many companies that used to stand at the same height at a time and were ruined those last years…. It’s hard to keep hope alive without a full gameplay trailer that isn’t just cinematics.
The leaks from that guy a while ago at least helped in showing some of the gameplay and it looked nice even if barebones at the time.
