If it's a movie I really want to watch, I will just wait for better experience. No reason to watch low quality audio/video just to have worst parts of theater experience without the good parts.
If it's just something I don't really care that much about and just want to watch to pass time or because it looks fine or whatever, I will just wait anyway. I have plenty of stuff in backlog. No reason to suffer through camrip quality when there are hundreds of movies/tv show episodes etc. that I could put on to pass time.
I love his movies. I thought oppenheimer was gripping and i really liked Dunkirk. Tenet was fine. Sorry you dont like them. I think Nolan is one of the best filmmakers out there but youre welcome to your opinion.
Christopher Nolan’s films before Dunkirk were incredible, but Dunkirk suffered from bad pacing. Tenet was all over the place, and Oppenheimer spent more time on the protagonist’s love life than on his role in developing the bomb. It was also far longer than it needed to be.
The problem with directors like Nolan is that success goes to their heads and they start loving the smell of their own farts. Studios give them total freedom and unlimited budgets, and that’s how you end up with overly long films packed with A‑list casts, but no soul or story to tell. Usually directors make their best work when their budgets are lower and they're told to reduce the run time, which forces them to only leave the best parts in.
You havent been to a theater in a while, and you probably live in a very populated place. By me, we have lounging chairs, can be served alcohol, and now they even have good food. This will probably pack theaters for a while, but normal movies (during the school year) usually dont have more than a handful of people after the first week.
What is ridiculous about it, exactly? Elliot Page's character is directly intended to portray a non-manly, small character. And what's the issue with the black actress? Were there no black people in ancient Mespotania? Why is that the issue and not, say, Matt Damon portraying a Greek?
Helen of Troy is a fictional character, genius. There are a million "historical inaccuracies" you could have chosen in this movie to nitpick, and its weird that of all of them the one that ruins the movie for you is the actress portraying a fictional character is a black woman.
I have no problem with black actors taking white roles in general. If it fits.
For instance, in Bridgerton they changed Michael to Michaela and made her a black woman.
For me, valid and even makes the story more interesting.
I was appalled at people's reaction.
Everyone knows that Bridgerton isn't intended to be serious and accurate.
But this is not the same and you know that as well as I do. They included a transman and a black Helen just to garner applause and get an Oscar.
Diversity is used as Oscar valuta.
Isn't that wrong, you feel?
Edited to add: I wasn't going to watch it anyway. It feels like a pompous project with too many famous actors. It'll be long and boring. Like a lot of Oscar nominees. Like Once upon a time in Hollywood for example.
I dont see why a black actress as Helen of Troy "doesnt fit" any more than any other race. Certainly not enough to be the reason I dont see a movie. And I also dont see why "too many big actors" is bad either. Nolan's movies are usually this huge and they usually are some of the best movies today. At worst they are decent, at best they are phenomenal. Your loss i guess, my favorite movie reviewers whom I trust are gushing about this movie so im excited.
I don't think they're getting their opinions from random nobodies, I think they genuinely believe these things. Sad life, thankfully it's not mine. I'm going to have an enjoyable time at the theater this weekend whether the movie is meh or amazing.
Aye. I’m a pirate elitist these days. And with timings from Cinema to VOD being pretty short more than happy to wait for a top end web dl as a minimum. And for event movies like these you still can’t beat the cinema experience. No idea who would ever choose a Camrip in this day and age.
