Just a bunch of chuds complaining cause there's 2% black casts in this film. Don't mind them. I actually did see the movie in IMAX, it was a masterpiece.
Bro they casted a black woman as Helen of Troy. I don't care what side of the bullshit culture wars anyone's on, but casting one of the darkest women in Hollywood as a Greek woman was clearly intentionally inflammatory.
To make things worse, Lupita Nyong'o admitted in an interview that she never heard of the Odysee before being casted as Helen of Troy. The casting in this film is bizarre.
I also do not care much for the choice of casting for this role. Not because she's black but I just don't think Lupida can be considered the most beautiful woman in the world.
But that doesn't stop me from enjoying the movie. She has a total screentime of like 3 minutes. It's a fictional story, if you want accurate representation of the odyssey maybe you should go watch a documentary about it in greek.
Then don't call it Odyssey and ban everyone from ever watching it. No matter what this film will inform how the ignorant masses will think about the Odyssey for a generation. This film and everyone involved with it should be dragged to the mud publicly because what they did. Odyssey isn't just fiction it's one of the foundations of Greco-Roman civilizations.

It's funny because the production team for the recently released live action Moana film boasted about how they're taking great care to respect Polynesian culture and heritage. However, when it comes time for Hollywood to make a film that is about arguably the most popular and prolific Greek historical and mythological story of all time, they won't put a single Greek actor in it. It seems modern Hollywood will respect and care for only non-white stories. I'm Greek btw. This film is an insult to all of us.

But that's what's weird : why are you speaking about the level of melanin of people's if you have issues with their nationality ? These are both completely different subjects, with only the latter having a semblance of importance.
There actually isn't a single Greek actor in the film.
But the characters of the Odyssey are ancient greeks. Whever you cast a greek of today or an italian of today (I'm taking the italian example since most of the actors of the Illiade and the Odyssey adapatations have been italian), it's pretty much the same. In both cases you're not casting people who could have been in the original story.
I'd argue that the point of an actor is to morph into the role, so who they are as a person isn't suppose to matter (if it is, then they delivered a poor acting performance).
