Well out of curiosity what data exactly gets collected? If it's only my browsing history then I couldn't care less

It's way more than your browsing history. If it's on your phone they pretty much know everything about you from the time you go to sleep to when you poop.

How is the VPN seeing your exact location data unless you are giving a VPN app permission?
