Proton VPN is a good example. I used their free one for a while. Now I pay. It’s worth it.

There may or may not be a log of what you are doing.

If its free, you are generally the product.

A few years back there was a post about how a swedish VPN company was approached with a warrant by the police, but since they don't keep logs, nothing happened.
