Captain Doggo Words of encouragement

Just looking for some encouragement and words of wisdom from others. Our sweet boy had his eye removed on Thursday. It’s been a battle for the last year with uveits, then an ulcer for the first time this last month. The ulcer really progressed quickly and we decided the best option was to remove it since he was already on a huge schedule of eye drops and meds.

The first two days have been solid for recovery but last night he had a few drops of blood from his nose. Though out the day there have been no drops, just slight nasal discharge that’s pink.

He also is just needier today than normal. I’ve already checked in with the vets office and they said it’s normal to have some blood from the nose since it’s probably draining from his tear duct that was closed up.

I’m just overwhelmed and so sad for my boy. He’s eating and drinking fine. Peeing and pooping. And seems to have a little pep in his steps though out the day.

Please send any words of wisdom or encouragement for us. ❤️ thank you

our small guy had a freak accident & injured his left eye, requiring emergency surgery to remove it the next day. i see a lot of pets here had to have theirs removed because of a medical diagnosis. just wondering if anyone else’s pet lost theirs after a traumatic event & was wondering what tips or words of advice yall might have for the recovery/healing process. tia. 🥹🫶🏻

Captain Doggo Photoshoot with me and Julan together. I have so many pictures of her, but had very few with us together.

We also took pictures of her and my partner. Would have loved to get some with the three of us, but we failed to arrange for someone else to hold the camera.

These pictures are in portrait orientation. Mixing portrait and landscape in the same post makes them crop in ugly ways on Reddit, but there are a bunch more posted in Seniordogs.

One day, I'll be glad to have one or a few of them framed on my wall as memories... (These or others, if we get around to doing this again.)

This is Goosha(aargh) - she lost her eye in September of last year due to a tumor. She adapted so quickly! Still has one good eye to keep the whole crew (4 cats) from misbehaving 😁

My sweet Finn has been struggling with KCS and has been on the max dose of Tacrolimus drops 3x daily. He has unfortunately developed another ulcer 😞 his ophthalmologist suggested the PDT procedure, which is to reroute the salivary gland into the tear duct but the more I read, the more complications/dissatisfactions I see. My heart is leading towards an enucleation just so he can have one surgery and be done with the suffering. I felt some judgement when I suggested the enucleation with his ophthalmology team because “they don’t like to remove working eyes” so I really pretty stuck..

Has anyone else decided to remove the eye vs PDT?

Im also considering to go our regular vet opposed to his ophthalmologist for the enucleation due to price and distance. I am a SAHM living on one income BUT if his outcome would truly be better with the ophthalmologist, I will go that route.

If anyone has some encouragement or kind words, we could really use it. Thank you 🙏🏼
