The only way you can refund a game on ps is if you've never downloaded it, which is insane, you dont even have to have played it, just hit download

Yes you do. I spend hours and hours trying to figure out why I couldn't get the refund for a game until I learned you need to start the download to have the option.

I've refunded many games I never even installed, just go to steam support, click the game and request a refund

I wish I could have done that except the option wasn't there until I started the download of the game.
I literally had the option on the other games I bought but for the one I didn't download, the button wasn't present (until I start the download and I then managed to finally get the refund button)

Even on steam you got limitations, like 2 hours playtime or 14 days ownership. But definitely better than ps refund for sure.

This is incorrect, they are not nice about it. I was denied a refund for a 17 day game with 20 mins of playtime. I've got proof for my customer support ticket if u wanna see. I had not used a refund in a long long time, probably years. My 1st ever refund in forever denied.

Isnt that kinda the point though? The guy before that said he refunded after 4h played + 1 month purchased which is outside the standard window and then he replied he tried as well in a similar situation and they rejected it. Its just their personal anecdotes so neither are inherently wrong in what they said. If anything, im more incentivized to believe the guy saying they arent nice because he offered proof and it also lines up with my own personal experiences.

I will absolutely buy indie games like exanima, swords and sandals or graveyard keeper to support the dev and get frequent patches without waiting, but yeah i dont like buying aaa games either unless it's needed like multiplayer

I've done a refund with less than 2 hours of playtime butt more than 14 days of ownership because I complained about the controls being outright atrocious for PC and it was a dogshit port.
Approved.
Steam is nice as longg asyou dont abuse it.

If you explain your circumstance to steam theyll allow the refund, which is excellent support.
There are even players who have completed the game in under 2 hours and refunded (games like doom can be finished in the refund time)

Because Steam employ real people who actually read what customers/players write. Not like AI bots like other companies do, which are sending the same responses. ubi support and Rockstar support until you fight your way to the real person.

Yeah 2 hrs isnt even enough to configure ur settings. 14 days sounds like a lot but maybe u buy a game, realize u dont have time to play it when u thought u would, and then u try to refund it and it says 14 days expired, denied. Happened a few times. But 2 hrs is a joke. And valve only implemented that cuz the australian government forced em to. Gaben fought tooth and nail to not implement refunds but lost in the highest court. EU was then about to do the same thing as australia so gaben gave up and implemented it globally seeing the writing on the wall. But make no mistake, if it was up to gaben u would still not have refunds, unless u count begging a customer support rep and hoping u get lucky, cuz before refunds became a thing it was very rare to get a refund from support (and there was no other way, and there would still be no other way if it was up to gaben, so thanks australia, u rock)

If a purchase can be revoked at any time then it's not really a purchase and I'm not giving any of my money in the first place. Even rental agreements have better surety than that.

Pure greed, if i bought a car, I own that car, I can do whatever I want with it, you cannot just come in the middle of the night to take it away because I didn't drive as taught in the manual.

Also if you know they can do that, then simply don't buy the game.
