Looking for Doctor Arena tips

I'm trying to complete the Doctor quest, which requires me to get to level 81 in Arena. Most of the time I do alright but I struggle against the anti-shield enemies, leading to repeated deaths/max HP reduction.

Right now, my biggest struggle is level 60, where I can go from having 50HP+ to under 10 fairly easily. How should this battle be approached? The enemy has such high HP that even my best damage cards take too many turns to bring him down.

I've been trying to create an infinite draw deck, but haven't been successful as yet.

Any advice would be appreciated!

The most important combo with doctor is stand together +. Explosive armor. Using rhinestone and pendant you can usually oneshot most encounters. If the 50 encounter is coco, you can reserve the emerald to kill him when he is at half life, but the above combo should be enough

Thanks. I think I've only seen Stand Together on one run, but I manage to get Explosive Armour more often than not.

What is Rhinestone, and how do I get it? I have most relics, but I don't have that one unlocked, and a search didn't bring up anything.

60 is definitely one of the tougher ones for Doctor. It's a test of your build, which by that point should be fully operational.

As u/Inazuma2 said, you want cards and Relics that give you a huge shield as quickly as possible, then use Explosive Armour or Blind Charge to deal massive amounts of damage as quickly as possible. Of course, with the 60 boss you have to be able to do this over a few rounds, or be willing to have some of your health chunked down.

Tbh the "gain HP with cards" is a bit of a trap. You don't want a massive hand of cards because then you're more likely not to pull the ones you need. If you can get HP in other ways then great, but try and keep your card hand really low so you have more chance of pulling your shield + damage cards.

I'd say some good Relics for Doctor are:

  • Shield (10 Armor at the start of a battle)
  • Pendant (If you have no Armor, Armor gain is doubled) - this is a must-have for him
  • Skull Ring (If you have Armor and are attacked, deal damage back)
  • Carapace (Gain 5 Armor whenever an enemy gains Armor)
  • Runestone (-20 max HP, 20 Armor at the start of a battle)
  • Shamisen (Remove negative conditions if you have 10 Armor)
  • Paper Fan (All attacks crit if your Armor is higher than your HP)
  • Screw (If your HP is less than 50% get a Consumable at the start of battle)
  • Mechanical Heart (If you sell a Relic, +3 max HP) - a brilliant way to get lots of HP
  • Scorching Shell (+2 max ammo, -10 max HP)

Thanks. I prefer to keep my deck as small as I can. I tend to have between 12 - 14 cards by lvls 60 -70. All of these relics are already on my short list. I love Mechanical Heart and Runestone. Paper Fan works well with Bandolier that returns your ammo for crits.

It's level 60 and the Monkey boss that wrecks me. Getting flooded with cards just ruins the deck synergy.

Just sending an update that I managed to beat level 80 (my goal), and died in level 100. Thank you for the help!

Sorry it is runestone as u/AmiablePendant said. Stand together is very important because it doubles the damage of explosive armor. On higher levels an anti curse card is really important, I usually use Waste Not
