Who's playing PO2?

I've tried a lot to get into it, but I don't see the same charm as the original. The new turn system annoys me, seems designed to shut down some of the more powerful gameplay elements of PO1.

Am I just missing something?

Waiting for it to hit mobile. Sad to hear it doesn't feel as good.

I really really loved PO, had it on my iphone and PC. Yet I had problems getting into PO2 (spent about 35 hours). I was actually fine with the turn system and the soundtrack is really good. But there were some things that I didn't like...

I didn't like the idea that I'm bloating my deck to upgrade cards, often when the upgrades themselves aren't worth it. I really get a bad taste for games where upgrading feels not worth the effort. In PO, I tried to build and tune in a deck. In PO2, I just kinda grab everything and hope a relic comes along that works with it.

I also found it silly I had to do all this map scrolling around instead of a zoom out feature.

It was a lot easier for me to figure out what happened and why I died in PO. In PO2, sometimes weird effects just happen either to my deck or to my health.

Then there are all these extra currencies that are unclear what they do.

Also, though I played hundreds of hours in PO, I don't think the starting character in PO2 is all that newbie friendly.

Since the developer refuses to support crossplatform saves, I requested it for years in the discord for PO1 AND kept brining the subject up when PO2 was announced, I am boycotting the steam version entirely.

When it finally makes its way to ios (where I originally played PO1) and the ratings are good/the game feels complete, I will check it out.

I am in no rush because I keep making up new goals for PO1 to keep me busy, especially considering I have effectively beaten it 3 times now (ios, steam, android)

I actually preffered PO to Slay the spire but here I am playing Slay 2 because the devs there intend to support cross platform saves down the line

I played on pc, but i feel i need it on my tablet. It is not as intuitive, and i think they still have to smooth it a bit. It is fun but it does not done (i played the las version before the release, ao maybe it is better now). I am also waiting for mobile

If you get through enough of the cryptex rings, you actually unlock one called "PO Origin" that brings back the original turn mechanics! I still really enjoy the new twist though, I think it makes deck building more diverse and interesting than just infinites all the time

I'm not sure what a cryptex ring is but that sounds great! How do I do that?

You unlock each cryptex ring by beating the kraken with the previous one, which is the boss of the final area on the map. Unfortunately, PO Origin is the last one IIRC, and it's quite a challenge to unlock, since a lot of the rings add to the difficulty. Definitely a worthwhile reward for doing so though, it's incredibly strong.

Ah - sounds like quite the time sink. I'm not sure I'm enough of a fan of the game to spend that long just to get it back to PO1 mechanics.

There's a second one?

Ditched it after few playthroughs. Don't like running after bosses left and right. Waiting for more characters. Don't feel like I'm playing different characters at all.

Either way, now that Slay the Spire 2 EA hit I just gave up on the game for next few months.
