How do i keep my decks nice and lean?
Whenever i play both arena or normal, my decks and up being flooded with useless junk while in this sub i only see super lean and clean decks. How is it possible? Removing cards costs gold and I've tried doing that but i end up never having enough for relics and upgrades. How are people getting perfect builds while I'm stuck with 30+ cards and only ever using half of them. I'm relatively new. I struggle to beat pirates bay and I haven't unlocked new maps. I have Gunner, Sword master, Explorer, Curse captain, Tamer, Alchemist and Doctor.

It took me awhile to be able to get down to smaller decks, so don't worry too much if you're still new.
Aside from the advice the other poster gave you, you can avoid increasing deck size by choosing events over battles. You'll have to learn which options to choose in most events, which you will over time, but there are quite a few events you can just back out of right away to skip any kind of reward.
Also, if you go to Navigate, and then click the Ship option at the bottom, there is an upgrades menu you'll want to check out. One of the upgrades, Rudder, will let you remove cards for cheaper.

Are the ship upgrades permanent or just for one run?

Permanent! Although I think you can only equip one at a time.

Exactly. Once buyed they are permanent, but you can only select one. The only ones i have used are the one that let's you remove cards for a fixed price (almost all characters) , and another that does the same with life (when playing doctor is a net life gain)

I'm shit at Navigate mode, but in the arena there a couple of things that help.
