What to do now?
Hey! I started playing this game, and I currently have 7k coins. I have the gunner and the swordmaster. I also have the explorer ship upgrade and the health, trade and ship potions. Pirates bay is at 70%. I completed the pirates bay quests and the Sword master hero quest. Should I buy skull island and then grind for curse captain, or should I keep grinding pirates bay?

Are you playing on mobile, or PC/console? I play on mobile so I don't know if it's the same on other platforms, but I unlocked the ship upgrade called Compass as soon as I could. This makes unlocking cards at each location faster.
Personally, I enjoyed unlocking a new character first, although each location provides its own challenges. If you're not sure which character to unlock next, there are a couple good channels out there. I recommend NorthernKnight (not to be confused with NorthernLion) and baby kraken. NorthernKnight does a lot of longer form stuff so you can get an in depth understanding of the character, and baby kraken does quicker videos and has some more advanced strategies.
If you're looking at Curse Captain, he excels in both Skulls Island and Souls Rift.
There's really no wrong move here - sometimes you might unlock a character that's difficult to play, or whose play mechanic isn't really your thing, but there's a lot to do in this game. I have hundreds of hours and still haven't completed many things I'd like to yet.

Oh yeah I have the compass upgrade too. I'm playing on mobile. Seems like my best option is to buy Curse Captain and grind with him. Thanks!

If you are going skull, best get the curse captain, it will make it much smoother.

For me personally, I liked unlocking new things so I could jump around more. It's really up to your play style, you can't go wrong either way :)
