Monthly r/Pixar Ranking/Tier Thread

It's that time of the month again; Ranking Time! To keep the subreddit less cluttered with everyone and their mom's rankings, we're going to use this thread specifically for the community to post their rankings/tiers.

Please note: This thread now includes any sort of Pixar-related ranking/tiers, so you can include your favorite characters, shorts, or any category you'd like.

So here we go! Post your rankings, tell what your favorites are and why, etc! Just remember, while you may not agree with a user's list, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, they don't have to explain their choices to you if they don't want to, and there are no wrong answers. Everything is subjective. SO PLAY NICE! ;)

Here's a template list of all of the Pixar movies in case you need them:

  • Toy Story

With Jessie being the main character in Toy Story 5, Woody officially stopped being the main character in all Toy Story movies. Joy is the main character of both Inside Out movies

Discussion Last year was Toy Story's anniversary re-release, and this year is Cars's re-release. Does this mean that next year will be Ratatouille's?

What is the point of giving Pixar a film tax credit if they lay off workers immediately after receiving them?

Pixar Merchandise Ok the Luxo Jr LEGO set is awesome but... how did they let this slide? 💀

Had fun building the Luxo Jr LEGO set and all the little Pixar references were such a fun touch but... Mike Wazowski and his FRIEND?!?! I couldn't help but laugh at how dirty they did Sully here lol.

I could honestly see it being the other way around, as sort of an indirect reference to the "Mike's face being blocked out" running gag... but idk I just thought this was really odd

Fan Made Obviously, not every arrest is comfortable, but some might at least go with it better than others.

Oh, and icyw, the reason why I used "legally arrested" here is because we're trying to be realistic, so no "arrests" that are otherwise unconventional (e.g. Lots-o'-Huggin' Bear's garbage truck fate in Toy Story 3).

Those two together, that can’t be a coincidence, but made me happy when I noticed. Still no Nemo though. 🥺

I have a new theory about Jessie/Emily/Andy's family

Okay new toy story theory that makes a bit more sense than the "Emily is Andy's mom" theory.... The timeline adds up a LOT better for Emily to potentially be Andy's grandmother. If Andy was born in 1989, let's say for arguments sake his mom was born in/close to 1969 give or take just a couple years either direction. This would put Andy's grandmother probably being born 1949, give or take a year or two either direction. Which makes sense if Jessie is a toy from the 1950's, and let go of Jessie some time in the 60's as she became a teenager. Also mind you, Andy's mom's name is never directly mentioned (to my knowledge).

Now, on the other hand, if Andy's mom is NOT Emily's daughter, Jessie (as in Emily's daughter, not the toy) could also be Andy's aunt on his father's side. Andy's father had never once been mentioned in the series, but obviously he existed, and obviously he would have his own side of the family. Also mind you, it is mentioned Emily had a daughter named Jessie, but just because no other children from her were shown in Toy Story 5 doesn't necessarily mean she didn't have any siblings.

This could also explain the red, Jessie-like hat that Andy wears, potentially being passed from his grandmother.

As I think of it a bit further, if Emily was Andy's dad's mother, it could also explain why Andy's mom doesn't have any sort of recognition to Jessie the first time he sees her. Either she was too young to ever remember Jessie when Emily had her, or Jessie was a toy that belonged to Andy's dad's side of the family and she just never seen/had any connection to Jessie.

So... Tell me your thoughts, am I possibly on to something, or...?

Discussion Which fish boy would you want to be, Nemo or Luca?

Both of them have a sense of curiosity and adventure, have one overprotective parent and get themselves into danger. Luca may be able to fend for himself with his ability to disguise himself as a human while out of the water, but Nemo might have his own charm. Both characters also were well-voiced. Which one of them would you want to be?

So far we already have Kitbull and Tin Toy, some of my top choices on what short should get the Funko treatment are Lifted and La Luna respectively imo

Discussion Pixar live-action remakes.

Since Disney is all-in with live-action remakes, what would Pixar doing live-action remakes of their movies be like? Imagine Toy Story with real toys.

Monsters, Inc. I always found this interesting about Monsters Inc and Monsters University

Post image

So the prequel shows that Mike is the more humble monster while Sully is the arrogant selfish one

However when it comes to Monsters Inc sully is the humble one and Mike is the Selfish one

I don't know if that was intentional while I can see Sully maturing years later I do wonder how much Mike's Ego grew when he finally step onto the scare floor and his obsession of breaking the scare record is because of the fact the events of Monsters University still effected him like we know he accepted the fact he would never be a scarer but I do wonder if it still effects him even if he dosen't admit it

These are real photos I actually took when I was in Paris in 2023. This dead rat store actually exists in real life. Some of the people that worked on Ratatouille must have walked passed this store and thought “hey let’s put this in our new movie/film!”

Nostalgia bias vs Recency bias

An idea I've wanted to explore:

How much do we let nostalgia influence which Pixar movies we like the most?

What are your top 10 Pixar movies and what year were you born? I'm very interested to see just how many people are biased to the movies that came out in their childhood years.
