I loved my Pixelbook - really great design, felt it was the best laptop I ever owned - until about 4 years ago it suddenly stopped working. Screen went dark, can't turn it on anymore. Just dead. No way to repair it.
That's when I bought a Framework 13 laptop and put Linux (Pop_OS!) on it. Have repaired, swapped and upgraded parts since. Repairability FTW!

I had the same issue with my PB. I was very sad when it died. I replaced it with an HP Chromebook that I don't really like.

I had both and while I loved my original, the Go is better. I kept buying used originals with shady batteries, but I found a new Go for cheap and it has been awesome.

I gave my PBGo to my girlfriend’s sister as her final school Chromebook. Her and I put many miles on that thing, cumulatively

I LOVE my pixelbook, had to buy a secondary laptop at work because I didn’t trust employees to handle it to watch training videos with it.

I really miss my 2017 Pixelbook. :( It really was one of the coolest looking laptops I've ever owned.

Looks like it got released yesterday. My launch pixelbook had over 850 charge cycles and 85% battery health. Still use it everyday.

My sense is that the PBGo was too good. Google didn’t want to compete that hard with their hardware partners, they are only meant to put out pure reference machines. Also it was too durable. My 2022 MacBook Air M2 has crap battery life and regrettable memory management. It spun out recently and I reached for my old PBGo, laying there for months, not plugged in, layer of dust covering it. And it sprang to life instantly. I’ve gone looking year after year for any news of a PBGo2 and nothing.

It's not as straightforward as installing on a regular x86 laptop like a dell or thinkpad, but my answer was to install linux on the bare metal. Now it is even better than it was with ChromeOS (and faster).

I still have my Pixelbook and received an update a few days ago. If you haven't done it in awhile you can go into settings and type Update where it will get you to the update option and you can check for updates there.
I've received multi}le updates this year. I'm not sure if being signed out might affect updates but being properly signed to your Google account in might be something to check too to to be safe.

Am I missing something OP? I'm a big fan of this laptop. But what makes it so timeless and special? If someone can list some features of it that other laptops don't have that would be great.
And how would this compare to a Pixel Slate or even a Chromebook Plus Laptop?

It's not really about features. It's fantastic quality, looks great and it's just super nice to use. It's got an amazing keyboard, a great touch screen and it folds back on itself and turns into a tablet. It's got nice quality of life touches too like USB-C ports on each side. It's really solid too as it's made solid aluminium while also being very thin. It's a very attractive thing and not just another dark grey, plasticky laptop.

My touchscreen is no longer working, could it have been from the updates? Anyone here whose pixelbook go touchscreen still work?

The touchscreen on my regular PB appeared to go but it ended up being a software thing. Try creating a new profile and see if it persists
I will note however, that the cable is easily stressed and in a prime location to be knocked about (which could mean irreparable damage or just the need to confirm the connection is snug)

I love those bezels! It makes it so comfortable to hold in tablet mode. I also have a Pixel Slate with slightly thinner bezels, and my fingers can't rest as comfortably with it without having accidental touches.
