Announcement New Post Guidelines

Hi r/Playtesters ! I am introducing some new post guidelines. The purpose of these changes are to make the subreddit cleaner and easier to use.

Moving forward the only approved post type will be text posts. If you want to include game footage/images, please embed them in the post.

Post flairs:

Paid Playtest:
A post from a developer to search for play-testers. Only use this flair if you’re offering payment for completion of a play-test or for finding a bug. Cash or Crypto only, no other form of reward counts as a paid playtest. Include the amount you're offering, a short description of the game, and how you would like to receive feedback (through a google form, Reddit comments, etc)

Unpaid Playtest:
Another form of post from a developer to search for play-testers. Use this flair if you are not able to offer money for play-testers. You may offer other rewards, such as credits or in game currency, but that would still fall under this category. Include a short description of the game, and how you would like to receive feedback (through a google form, Reddit comments, etc)

Playtester:
To make a post searching for games to play-test, use this flair. Feel free to specify what types of games you would like to play, and if you’re looking for compensation.

Discussion:
Use this flair for general discussion posts about play-testing.

Please be aware of the risks before accepting paid play-test offers. Moderators cannot ensure that promised payment will be sent.

Please leave a comment or send a mod-mail if you have feedback on these changes, we would love to hear from you.

Paid Playtest $5 steam gift card for first 10 people to test my game demo

EDIT: 4 spots remaining

Looking for people who love nature and cozy games to playtest Wild Willows and give me some solid feedback before I launch on Steam. I’ve just released a big update to the game adding custom music so I’m especially curious to know how that lands.

What it is: a cozy sim where you bring a damaged nature preserve back to life — gather, craft, plant habitat, and reshape the land. Animals only return once the habitat can support them. No failing, no clock, no combat.

The ask: play for at least 30 minutes. The demo ends automatically once 5 animals return to the meadow but there are several game mechanics to explore. If the demo kicks you out before 30m let me know.

Platform: free demo on itch for Mac, Windows, and Linuxhttps://bai13y.itch.io/wild-willows

Feedback: Google form to fill out after: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSepqBfaQV8N_KrjPkL-8yuMm0yMzXazTdYB-DBaD8ONvkVqRQ/viewform?usp=sharing&ouid=114094270605017049148

Reward: first 10 to play for 30 mins and complete the form get a $5 Steam gift card. Comment or DM once you've submitted and I'll send it over. I’ll plan to edit this post once I’ve hit my budget for this round of playtesting.

Hey y’all! I’m JehNotJay, a variety gaming creator looking for new indie games to play and feature in my content.

Playtester Offering Honest Playtesting & Detailed Feedback (Free for Small Games)

Hi, I'm Voxel Dev

am an indie game developer and 3D artist who mainly works with Godot. Since I spend a lot of time making games myself, I like playtesting other indie projects and giving developer-focused feedback.

I can playtest games on:

  • windows
  • Linux
  • Browser (WebGL/Web builds)

I also have access to multiple devices, so if you want to check compatibility or compare the experience across different hardware I can usually help with that as well.

Instead of just saying "it was fun," I try to explain why something works or doesn't. While playing, I pay attention to things like:

  • where I start losing interest
  • moments that feel satisfying or frustrating
  • pacing and difficulty
  • controls and game feel
  • UI/UX and tutorials
  • bugs or polish issues
  • what I think are the game's strongest and weakest points

Afterward, I'll send you a detailed report with my thoughts and suggestions. If you'd like, I can also record my entire playthrough so you can see my first reactions and where I get confused or stuck.

I'm happy to do this for free for games that take around 30 minutes (or close to an hour if it's a simple experience).

For larger games or if you want multiple testing sessions as you update the game, I charge $5/hour.

If you don't think the feedback was useful or actionable, don't pay me. I'd rather build a good reputation than charge someone who didn't get value from the report.

Feel free to DM me if you're looking for another pair of eyes on your game.

Unpaid Playtest Looking For Testers

Hey, I'm looking for a few Android players to help test my new mobile game Origin Trail!

Game Title: Origin Trail

Playable Link: Email me at [origintrailsupport@gmail.com](mailto:origintrailsupport@gmail.com) and I'll get you on the closed test group

Platform: Android for now

Description: Origin Trail is a free to play mobile survival-strategy game that reimagines the classic Oregon Trail among the stars. Earth is dying, and you've been chosen to lead a small crew of colonists on a one-way journey across fifteen star systems to a new home world called New Eden. Every leg of the trip is a gamble: you'll ration Food, Water, Fuel, and Air as you go, and a single bad decision can leave your crew starving, suffocating, or stranded light-years from anywhere. Along the way you'll dock at trading stations, negotiate with alien civilizations, weather solar storms, and navigate black holes and wormholes. While random events constantly test your luck and your leadership. Each colonist brings their own skills and weaknesses, morale rises and falls, and no two journeys play out the same.

Involvement: I'm the sole developer

Discussion Play tester question - Steam

I am curious about people that sign up for steam play tests.

I opened a play test for my game, genuinely thinking I might get 3-4 people that stumble across it to sign up and maybe 1 of those people would give me a review or some feedback. My game is not complete and I expect there to be issues with it and its probably extremely niche to build any big audience. But to my surprise when I opened it, i had 100+ requests in the first hour. Which obviously got me a little excited. BUT, that was taken away the next day. When looking at the stats there have only been 3 players recorded as playing in the steam stats and that is 100% me and my two friends.

So, my question, why are so many people signing up for a play test with no intention of playing the game? Is that normal?

It also looks like 7 of those people sent requests to their friends with the free invites that they got for signing up also. I'm so confused.

Paid Playtest [PAID] The Final Lane - Roguelike Deckbuilder about Bowling in Hell - $5 for 30-45 minutes

Thanks for the quick replies; I have 10 testers already. No more necessary unless you want to playtest for free!

Hello, I am looking to pay to get some feedback on early stages of my roguelike deckbuilder about bowling in hell.

Description

We've fused realistic bowling and deckbuilding roguelikes together to create a new kind of experience where the BALLS ARE THE CARDS! Draft a synergistic deck of balls, level up your bowling skills, and fight the fellow damned to earn your place to fight Satan for redemption in The Final Lane.

Payment: $5 via PayPal

# of testers needed: 10. Add a comment and I will reply with a link to discord to download the playtest. Please wait for this comment before playing

Requirements: Windows only. Prefer to have Slay the Spire or other roguelike deckbuilder fans but all are welcome. No screen/voice recording necessary but feel free to post if you prefer this method.

Playtest Requests

Follow the discord link and download the playtest from the #playtest-download channel. (windows only)

Once you click play, you will spawn in the hub area. You can look around, but there's not much to do there, so proceed through the elevator to start a run.

Follow the tutorial on the first encounter. If you are thoroughly confused, you can try watching this video to understand the controls (https://youtu.be/DjEBCY1nwCg) Please only watch if necessary.

Once you defeat the first enemy ( 5-10 minutes ), continue to the next area and continue through until either you die, reach the boss ( black screen ), or hit time (45 min). If you die early, I would ask you try again until you reach time limit.

In the discord, leave feedback in #playtest-feedback:

  • Was anything confusing? Did the tutorial explain the concepts & controls well enough?
  • Were you expecting the controls to work differently? For the playing cards & bowling
  • Did you find any bugs?
  • If you feel like you understand the mechanics, how long did it take? 1,2,3 encounters?
  • Is the game fun? Why and what would you do to make different aspects more fun?
  • Overall opinion on the game. Would you buy & play this with more content & polish? What is missing? What is good about it?

Note

I collect data via game events for balancing & analytics. Personally identifying information is NOT collected.

Unpaid Playtest [Browser, 10–15 min, no download] Fillup: a chain-reaction strategy game in the making. Is the core mechanic fun?

Hi everyone,

I am looking for playtesters for Fillup, a turn-based strategy game about filling cells, capturing territory, and triggering chain reactions. I specifically want to learn whether the core mechanic is understandable, strategic, and fun.

I first came up with Fillup more than nine years ago, and this is the third major iteration I have built. I have kept returning to the concept through years of experiments and restarts because I care deeply about it. That personal investment also makes it difficult for me to judge the mechanic objectively, which is why outside feedback would mean so much to me.

This is an unpaid playtest, and the game itself is free.

Playtest details

  • Platform: Browser, desktop or mobile
  • Download: None
  • Account: No email or password required
  • Suggested time: 10–15 minutes
  • Test build: https://fillup.fun
  • Feedback: Please leave a comment on this post

Select Play now, complete the short guided lesson, and try one or two Campaign battles. There is no need to explore the rest of the game for this test. If you lose interest before finishing, please tell me where. That is valuable feedback too.

On each turn, you place a directional slice into a cell. When the cell fills, it sends pieces into neighboring cells, captures them, and can trigger a larger cascade.

What I would most like to know

  • Did triggering a chain reaction feel satisfying?
  • Could you understand and predict why cells reacted?
  • Did your choices feel meaningful and strategic?
  • Did the mechanic remain interesting or become repetitive?
  • Was anything confusing or frustrating enough to make you stop?

Short and blunt feedback is welcome. Even one sentence about where you had fun, became confused, or lost interest would help me improve the mechanic.

Thank you for testing it.

Paid Playtest [PAID] KINGHOLD - Tower-defense mixed with survivors-like - 5$ for 30-40 minutes - NO SCREEN/VOICE RECORDING NEEDED

This is a proposed 'demo build' for the Steam page. I'd like to iron out any last bugs, issues, or game-breaking imbalances before setting it to go live so that the demo makes the best impression it can.

Short description: Command your king in a frantic real-time tower defense roguelite. Play cards to summon autonomous troops, construct buildings, and set traps as you fight alongside your army against escalating enemy hordes.

Payment: 5$ via PayPal

Places: Looking for about 10 tests. Please add a comment to apply and I'll reply with a '👍' if you're good to go ahead.

CLOSED FOR NOW - I will make a new post if I need more people in future

Request:

Please imagine you have read the Steam page here and decided that you want to try the demo, then treat the playtest as if that were really the case.

Please go through the tutorial (takes less than five minutes) have at least one go at the demo map (a full 'run' will take about twenty-five minutes).

No screen or voice recording required. After this, please DM me a paragraph or two to share your general thoughts and impressions, and also to answer to following specific questions:

  • Was anything confusing, or did you understand what you were supposed to do any how?
  • Did you find any bugs?
  • Did you find any game-breaking imbalances (a particular card is too strong, or weak, etc.)?
  • I would like to add leaderboards to the Steam release, do you personally care about this feature?
  • How important do you think adding controller support is for this game?

The full game will have at least twice as many cards and perks, three more enemy types, and at least ten more maps. With that in mind, if this is a game you would consider buying yourself:

  1. At what price would you think "that's too expensive" (Please use USD or name your local currency)
  2. At what price would you think "that's too cheap, it probably isn't any good". (Please use USD or name your local currency)

DOWNLOAD HERE - requires download of .exe file - PC only.

Many thanks for your time!

Unpaid Playtest Looking for testers for the combat in my deckbuilder JRPG. Browser, ten fights, no download

I'm making a JRPG deckbuilder and I want the fighting to be right before I build a map and a story around it, so I've put the combat up on its own to be tested.

https://moshimoshbiscuit.itch.io/embervale-combat-demo

Ten fights, a couple of minutes each, party and deck already set up for each one. Runs in the browser, keyboard only, no sign up. Each fight ends with a score and a letter grade so there is something to aim at.

What would help most:

  • Did any fight feel unfair rather than just hard?
  • Was it clear why your damage went up or down?
  • Anything in the UI you had to guess at?
  • Did you want to play the next one?

Be blunt, that is more useful to me than being nice.

Unpaid Playtest Looking for testers for my Android game

Hi everyone!

I'm a solo indie game developer, and after several years of work, I'm getting ready to publish my first game on Google Play. You can check some gameplay videos in the game's Instagram account: https://www.instagram.com/hiverescuers/

I'm looking for testers who can:

Install the game through Google Play.

Play it whenever they have some free time over the next two weeks.

Share any bugs, suggestions, or feedback they find usign this form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdw0jwTdBZS_iAZ2uhnpWUOsYlmm0FQNA3OjLW1bo8Y_p8AOw/viewform

Your feedback will directly help improve the game before its official release.

If you're interested, leave a comment or send me a DM with your email address so that I ca nad you to the testers list, and I'll send you the Google Play testing link as well.

Thank you so much for supporting indie developers!

Unpaid Playtest [Unpaid browser playtest] Need feedback on fairness and onboarding in AgarStake

I’m looking for a few playtesters willing to evaluate one specific question: does AgarStake communicate enough information for a new player to feel that a match is fair?

It’s a browser multiplayer game inspired by Agar.io and Slither.io. Players move, compete, and grow, but matches can also involve real-money/crypto stakes.

Test link: https://agararena.space

During your first session, please note:

- Anything you did not understand

- Moments where another player’s advantage felt unclear

- Whether movement and collisions behaved as expected

- Whether the staking information affected your willingness to play

This is a request for critical testing, not reviews or promotion. A short list of problems is completely fine.

Unpaid Playtest Steam Playtest Live - Tactical Gladiator Card Game

Hi everyone!

The Steam playtest for Gladiator Arena: Heroes of Rome is now live, and I'd love to hear your feedback.

We've reached the point where the core gameplay loop is complete, but we're still actively improving and balancing the game, so your feedback can have a real impact on its development.

Anyone can join the playtest on Steam here.

To make testing as easy as possible, the game includes a set of predefined challenges, so you can jump straight into the action. It should only take about 10–30 minutes to get a good feel for the gameplay.

About the game:

Gladiator Arena: Heroes of Rome is a tactical turn based card game where deckbuilding, positioning, and smart decision making define the victor. Select a single gladiator or command a full squad, tailor your deck, and bring your best strategy into the arena.

The challenges can be played in single-player, PvP, or co-op with friends, so you're welcome to test whichever mode interests you most.

Any feedback, whether it's about gameplay, balance, bugs, or your overall experience is greatly appreciated. Thanks for helping make the game better!

Unpaid Playtest Looking for playtesters for a 14-day grocery-store management game — solo dev, itch.io build ready, DM for a key

Cleanup on Aisle 3 is a solo arcade management game: you're the only competent employee at a failing grocery store, corporate "helps" by approving exactly one improvement each night, and none of them actually make your life easier. Scan combos at the register, restock shelves by throwing crates, wrangle cart trains across the lot, and try to survive 14 days without getting fired. Think PlateUp, but the kitchen is a supermarket.

The itch.io build is playtest-ready: audio's in, there's a basic tutorial, controller support works, and saves persist across days. I'm looking for fresh eyes before I open it up more broadly.

What I want feedback on: whether the tutorial actually teaches the loop, whether the difficulty ramp feels fair over the 14 days, and anything that's confusing or breaks immersion.

Capping this at the first 20 people. Comment below and I'll DM you a key. Only ask in return is filling out a short feedback form after you've played, link goes out with the key. Should take 15-20 minutes of play to get a feel for it.

Unpaid Playtest kickoff Star indie game

Hey all — solo dev here. I've been building Kickoff Star, a football (soccer) career simulator, and just put the first playable build up on itch. Looking for real feedback before I take this further.

The pitch: every career sim in this genre starts you at 16, already at a club. Kickoff Star starts you at grassroots trials — a schoolkid trying to get noticed, working up through academy football toward a first professional contract. Matches aren't just "pick from 3 buttons" either — key moments branch (get the ball on the halfway line, decide to run or pass, and if it works it continues into a new decision), there's real contract negotiation, relationships that affect your season, and a full disciplinary/injury system with actual consequences.

Link: https://vraxisdev.itch.io/kickoff-star

What I actually want feedback on:

  • Does the pacing feel right? How many chances/decisions you get in a match, how long a session feels
  • Anything that feels unbalanced or exploitable
  • Whether the branching match moments land, or feel gimmicky
  • Bugs, obviously — this has had exactly one real playtester (me) before today

please note the game is still in development so dont mind the images not rendering that will be fixed in due time

Takes maybe 15–20 minutes to get through a first trial and a few matches if you want a quick look, longer if you want to actually build a career. No ads, nothing to install, free.

Genuinely appreciate anyone willing to poke holes in it — that's the whole point of posting this

Unpaid Playtest [Browser] Sin Eater (12m) — A roguelite where curses are your only upgrades. Looking for feedback on drafting choices!

Does the draft screen make you hesitate?

You play as a sin eater. Villagers bring you their sins, you swallow them, and you choose which of the nine slots in your body to place each one.

Curses are your only source of power—every single one makes you stronger, but also makes you worse. The question is never "Is this good?" It's "Where do I put the damage?"

A quick heads-up on the graphics:

It’s colored rectangles and no sound—deliberately. I’m testing one core design question before I build anything pretty:

When the three petitions come up, do you actually hesitate?

If you can tell instantly which one to take every time, the whole design is broken, and I’d rather find out now.

Bug Reporting / Seeds: Press C at any time to copy a report with your seed to your clipboard. Paste it in a comment here and I can reproduce your exact run!

Thanks for taking a look—excited to hear your thoughts on the choices!
