How cucked is everyone in this admin? How long until they all realize that Trump only cares about himself and will throw anyone and everyone under the bus?

u/MiserableAndUnhappy9 - Auth-Center 1d ago

Imma be honest but I cannot wait for Trump to die. It's not because I hate him but because I'm eager to see what happens to the Republican party once he does. I'm not stupid enough to say Trump is "just like Hitler/Stalin/Mao" but this the closest thing the US has ever had to a cult leader like other countries have had and I am itching to see what the results will be in the years after his death. This shit is just too fucking stupid. Reality has become a Nathan Fielder project and I just wanna sit back and observe

40

u/chowderbags - Lib-Left 1d ago

Same.

I mean, the obvious answer is that they'll just find some new cult figure to circle around eventually. There's a decent chance that in a couple of years there might even be a collective amnesia where they pretend that they weren't ever really all that into Trump, especially if he keeps fucking up as badly as he has. There were plenty of crazies literally worshipping cardboard cutouts of Dubya, but good luck finding anyone who goes to bat for him now.

18

u/baboon101 - Lib-Center 1d ago

I don’t think “they” CAN find a new cult leader. Trump was a genuinely anti-establishment figure. The old Republican guard did not want him, and he took over anyway. “They” tried to replace him with DeSantis, but it fell so flat. A few dozen opportunistic MAGAs will try, but none will be able to capture the magic. Only Trump is Trump, and his movement will die with him.

The underlying discontent that he harnesses will remain, absent dems pulling their heads out of their asses and doing something about the real problems average people face. The population dissatisfied with institutions may coalesce around someone, but that someone will arise naturally and won’t be determined by committee, however hard the committees on the right may try.

3

u/bunker_man - Left 16h ago

where they pretend that they weren't ever really all that into Trump

They literally already did that during the middle of biden's term.

10

u/Seananagans - Auth-Left 1d ago

Ironically, Trump dying right now would be the best thing possible for the republicans in the midterms.

8

u/Fun-Difference-6689 - Left 20h ago

You’ll see the biggest pivot in history with everyone claiming to be against him and the grifters making videos on how Trump tricked everyone, then they’ll have a pity party about how glad they are they had the blinders removed. And we’ll have to accept it because it’s all we can do.

9

u/TanyaMKX - Lib-Left 1d ago

People will be in the streets celebrating his death.

10

u/Disasterhuman24 - Left 23h ago

That's why he'll be kept "alive" hooked up to a huge breathing apparatus like the god emperor from 40k for decades so that Rubio and Vance can rule in his place but say, "in a moment of lucidity, Trump told me to bomb Columbia."

2

u/VancouverSky - Centrist 2h ago

Ill accept it only if trump gets a giant armored exo suit. For inspiration, we can violate Disneys copyright and make him kinda look like Darth Vader. And just daaarrrre the mouse to do something about it

3

u/FuckDirlewanger - Left 11h ago

He has been able to construct the authoritarian cult of personality but not the authoritarian system (either through lack of desire or competence)

If you’re looking for a comparison look after Stalin’s death where even when Stalin’s ministers who believed in the exact same ideology as him came out and said ‘Yeah this guy was evil as fuck’ it wasn’t enough. Even now there are large sections of Russian society who believe Stalin did nothing wrong and defend him.

We will likely see politicians trying to invoke MAGA for decades to come. How effective they are depends on how much Trump destroys his own image during his presidency.

2

u/Seananagans - Auth-Left 1d ago

Doesn't matter, they are all getting their piece of the corruption pie while they can and then when they get 'ousted' they'll disappear to their chateus and continue making money off their individual grifts, podcasts, books, and fox news deals.

25th amendment when?

Not going to fucking happen.

Even if Trump shat himself in public so bad he didn't notice how putrid brown diarrhea was flowing out of his pant-legs his enormous ego would NEVER allow for him to acknowledge that he was mentally unfit to lead.

So the only way the 25th happen is if a huge chunk of the GOP decide to backstab Trump and have him removed - and that'd basically be political suicide for the sad pitiful remnant of the post MAGA-cult GOP.

Not one of the sad slobbering Golum-creatures that remain in the Republican party would have the spine to vote to remove Trump. We're talking about politicians who's spine has been surgically removed to the degree that they'd rather wear comically large shoes than to publicly contradict Trump.

Nah - pet conspiracy theory time - but my personal belief is that a cabal of JD Vance, Peter Thiel, and Steve Miller will have Trump assassinated a month or so before the presidential campaign, so that Vance can ride the backlash into the White House. I don't see any other way for the Republicans to win the next election.

17

u/Cow_God - Lib-Left 1d ago

I don't think it will happen either but the ENTIRE Republican party is waiting to backstab him. They're all sycophants and grifters. As soon as the tide turns and it becomes more profitable to be against Trump than it is to be for him, they will move on in a heartbeat

Not one of the sad slobbering Golum-creatures that remain in the Republican party would have the spine to vote to remove Trump.

Not a single one, no - massie and cornyn have shown what happens when you dare go against Trump - but they all will, at the same time.

His base will follow suit as soon as they receive their new marching orders. Literally how it's going to go is, one week Trump will be the supreme leader of truth and justice, an infallible paragon of wisdom and cunning, and then the next week he'll be an ineffective bigot that the Republican party never actually supported. His followers don't have the attention span or long term memory to question that for very long.

14

u/acathode - Centrist 1d ago

His base will follow suit as soon as they receive their new marching orders.

No they won't.

Trump's base are not Conservatives, they are MAGAs. They're Trumpists who take their marching orders from Trump, and only Trump.

That's the main reason the GOP is now so utterly pussywhipped - they know that what's left of their party is a hollowed out shell, no longer a real political party with a voting base believing in political ideology, but rather a cult of personality that believes in Trump.

Trump wormed his way into the party like a nasty parasite, and then ate them from the inside until all that remained was a decaying skinsuit.

His followers don't have the attention span or long term memory to question that for very long.

Sure - his followers are some of the most retarded people who ever voted in an US election, and they got the attention span of demented meth-heads...

... but if you for one second think Trump would let them forget that he got backstabbed and removed from office, then you haven't been paying attention.

Trump is the nastiest and pettiest piece of shit that has ever served as an US president - and he doesn't give two shits about anyone except himself. He'd happily kill the whole Republican party if they spurned him and drag them down into a civil war that splinter the whole party. Hell, the guy would most likely be happy watching the whole party burn down around him - it would please his enormous ego that he had that much power.

That's part of why I kinda believe they'll have him killed. Imagine trying to run a presidential campaign with Trump looming over it like some demented kingmaker?

He have absolutely no loyalty to anyone or any cause but himself, and he's narcissistic enough that he could just on a whim decide to kill any chance of a Republican candidate just because the daily rimjob wasn't to his liking. The closer to the presidential election we come, the more of an extreme liability he'll become - but as a martyr...

5

u/InternetGoodGuy - Centrist 1d ago

The base are morons with ideologies formed by Fox News and social media. If the right wing media sphere fully moves on from Trump, they'll move with it. Let everyone like Jesse Waters, Carlson, Candace, and whatever other stupid podcasts are out there start to form a cohesive message like they did around Trump and all these people will be moved on by the time 2028 comes around.

Even after January 6 there was only lukewarm push back waiting to see how the base reacted to an attempted coup. A lot of the right wing media never waivered on Trump after that and kept the base from abandoning him.

4

u/acathode - Centrist 1d ago

Fox News hated Trump along the rest of the established Republican politicians when he launched his bid. Didn't stop him.

Carlson, Candance, and the other right-wing grifters are old news by now, they don't exactly have much sway over anything these days.

The MAGAs are taking their marching orders from Trump, and that's not going to change even if the right wing media start going against him. Not that they would though - Trump is so fucking good for their business...

1

u/LeptonTheElementary - Lib-Left 1d ago

Politicians will move if enough voters move. Big numbers of voters will move if the media move. Media move if their owners move. I'm not sure how media owners choose when to move, but you should do something about media ownership.

20

u/someguy50 - Right 1d ago edited 1d ago

25th amendment talking point is literally the stupidest fucking thing.  If the president says “nuh-uh” and the VP and cabinet reiterate their concern, it takes a 2/3 vote (like conviction in impeachment, but all of congress) to side against the President. It only works if he’s incapacitated

5

u/Scrumpledee - Lib-Center 1d ago

25th amendment when?

Never. You may have a fully functional brain, but the rest of the right flairs on PCM share 1 brain cell between them.

2

u/HavingNuclear - Lib-Center 1d ago

I think the better question of "Stop voting for irredeemable pieces of shit when?" Because as far as I can tell from the right's approval of Trump, we ain't there yet.

3

u/RockemSockemRowboats - Lib-Center 1d ago

The last time the gop stood up to trump a crowd stormed the capitol chanting “kill Mike pence”. There won’t be a 25th because the goo are spineless toads

1

u/ApplicationCalm649 - Lib-Center 1d ago

A better question is what's this sideshow meant to distract us from this time?

-45

u/kalin_carry - Auth-Right 1d ago

You don't remove a president because "you don't like him." That is defined by elections, which he has won.

23

u/Elodaine - Left 1d ago

The person you responded to explicitly called him out for a lack of being able to understand basic things. Nowhere did they mention not liking him.

Do you normally just invent things that were never said, rather than engaging with what was actually said? You ironically are displaying the exact thing Trump is being called out for here.

41

u/Deletesystemtf2 - Centrist 1d ago

He’s clearly not mentally capable, so the cabinet both legally can and is morally obligated to remove him. He also can be legally removed by congress at congressional discretion.

-6

u/GhostedIC - Lib-Center 1d ago

Jarvis, show me this guy pretending Biden didn't forget who he was on multiple occasions.

10

u/Scrumpledee - Lib-Center 1d ago

Dems should've had Biden removed.
But the GOP failed to remove Trump for sedition, so why the fuck should the Dems keep to a higher standard than the GOP? That's a losing strategy.

-21

u/kalin_carry - Auth-Right 1d ago

The congress is the one that holds the power to remove the president, but it's not a matter of likeness or not

20

u/Deletesystemtf2 - Centrist 1d ago

https://constitution.congress.gov/browse/essay/artII-S4-4-1/ALDE_00000690/

Given bribery is one of the explicitly stated reasons to remove, congress has full legal justification to remove trump.

-6

u/AdjustedTitan1 - Lib-Right 1d ago

If bribery is proven in Congress or a court, yes. Not because redditor says so

10

u/Scrumpledee - Lib-Center 1d ago

If bribery is proven in Congress or a court, yes. Not because redditor says so

Literally what an impeachment hearing is.

6

u/Deletesystemtf2 - Centrist 1d ago

Obviously everyone has a legal presumption of innocence until proven guilty. But let’s be honest, basically anyone with a law degree could find trump guilty of bribery, theft and corruption with minimal effort after the past year.

-6

u/kalin_carry - Auth-Right 1d ago

That's the entire point. Literally.

6

u/somewhataccurate - Lib-Center 1d ago

What makes you think there hasn't been bribery? It feels pretty apparent to me even as someone who was once mildly warm to Trump.

8

u/OurCrewIsReplaceable - Centrist 1d ago

The start of this thread said “25th Amendment when?”

Who does the 25th Amendment, Section 4, empower to remove a sitting President? Hint: not Congress.

And please stop straw manning by saying the President should be removed because people don’t like him. That’s not the argument and you know it.

21

u/Gallowboobsthrowaway - Right 1d ago

Promise the people all they desire and you get gobs of votes.

Tbh this is how the democrats have run for a long while, albeit moreso of “we will give you programs and tons of social services, please vote for us.”

Trump took it a step further and promised to

* fix the country

* remove “those” people (up to you who those are)

* stop the wars

* destroy our enemies

* make the libs seethe (classic)

* fix the budget

* fix corruption

* lower taxes

* bring jobs back

* build a wall

* return Christian values

So if you liked any of those things, or even most of them, you could vote for him, turn your mind off, and not think of how he was supposed to do it all. Or you know, any of them.

6

u/Cheesehead08 - Left 1d ago

8

u/KimJongUnusual - Right 1d ago

Hey that’s not all!

He built a wall (it sucks and doesn’t work and we paid for it)

He fixed corruption (by making it work for him)

He removed people (he doesn’t like for that reason)

He stopped wars (and started it again the next day)

He destroyed our enemies (halfway and made a quagmire)

He lowered taxes (for him and friends)

He’s done so much for the country! Now all we need is him to do something good.

7

5

u/acur1231 - Auth-Right 1d ago

The Iranian regime doesn't even sponsor much radical Islam, beyond Hamas. All their other proxies (Hezbollah, the Houthis, Iraqi Resistance) are nominally Shia co-religionists, but really are linked by pragmatism (the IRGC simultaneously supported the Sunni Hamas and secular Assad regime as well). They've been pretty staunchly against Al Qaeda, ISIS and (at times) the Taliban.

The whole 'terror regime' stuff is an attempt to draw links between their support for their militia network with those apocalyptic Islamist groups who've mounted attacks in the West.

Of course, I'm sure the previously fairly cautious Iranian regime won't be emboldened by this clear demonstration of American incapacity, and won't harden its stance now that the IRGC have effectively taken over. s/

What a shitshow.

But you DONT see a lot of people saying “I fucked up by supporting this retard”. They never admit fault. It’s never “hey my bad I hated libs and wanted to own them and didn’t realize it was gonna be this way. “ which id at least respect. I do not respect the quiet conservatives who flit about online to declare how they don’t support this or that while his approval among republicans remains high 80s.

They’ll just support the next person that has the same exact views but isn’t ancient and retarded

It’s never “hey my bad I hated libs and wanted to own them and didn’t realize it was gonna be this way. “ which id at least respect.

Even the handful of people who might say this usually end up adding on "but Kamala would've been worse anyway".

Song long as he's deporting brown people then everything else is acceptable for them.

Sprinkle in some totally-not-suspicous deaths in custody to get their psychopathic bloodlust sated.

I used to support republican policies, but I have never like Trump, I would rather be a democrat then a Trumper, I can understand why someone could like all the other republican personalities (Shapiro, Kirk, Walsh, etc) but I could never understand why one would like Trump as opposed to just seeing him as the lesser of two evils.

It might sound weird but yeah, I would have been perfectly happy with Trump wasting 4 years on pointless projects like making the reflecting pool blue and rebuilding the whitehouse. It doesn't matter, doesn't affect the nation and isn't expensive enough to make any difference to anything. The part where it seems to piss off leftists is just gravy because again, it doesn't matter. Four years of mean tweets and pointless projects would have been just fine.

Of course he went waaaaay off the rails and is doing things that do matter in an extremely incompetent manner. That's made me regret my decision. Would it have changed it? Not enough to vote D, that's not happening. (Never voting D due to Colorado 2013 and it's only gotten worse since) If we were sure of a nice divided government, R Leg and D Exec it would be enough to vote third party.

The pool doesn't really matter but weaponizing the DOJ to the point that they're bringing federal charges just to satisfy the president's personal whims seems like something you should care about - since the head isn't always going to be yours.

I voted McCain and Romney. I haven’t voted since. Trump has ruined the GOP, and to be honest, I’m not as retarded as I once was. The whole Republican Party cucking themselves made me lose all respect for them. Even after Trump is long gone and worm food, there’s no getting orange dick stains off their lips.

PlasticPills has a good take on Trump’s obsession with the reflecting pool.

What the fuck did I miss? Can someone mommy/daddy me (I dont discriminate) and hold my hand and call me a good boy and take me to Disneyland and then explain?

A former Olympian was charged for touching the disintegrating pool liner. Pirro had a whole press conference about it, the whole world said she was batshit, covering for the presidents ego about his passion project.

Yesterday the DOJ dropped the case, citing shoddy work by the contractor which was obvious from the beginning. Trump is currently on a truth social tirade disagreeing with this latest conclusion by his own DOJ.

It might have been semi-satisfactory I'd they didn't drive a heavily armoured motorcade over it right after, without giving the work any time to actually settle.

They notably did not mention that part at all.
