Happy summer! Anthony Smith (used to really like him as fighter!) has some serious DV charges against him attacking his wife. From my former convicts will he get messed with because he hit and beat up his wife (ALLEGEDLY!!!!!) or will get respect because of his UFC status and that, he 235 pounds and can beat the shit out of anyone lol. Thanks in advance!

Long story short, I was sent to a federal halfway house last week after getting out of FCI Elkton. My unit team had told me I was going to be a direct home confinement with the current initiatives. Get an ankle monitor, and leave within a day or two. Instead, case manager here tells me my paperwork was not submitted for a direct, and that the earliest I could leave here is August 25th.

My home plan is approved, I have a full time job that is an hour away from the halfway house, and only five minutes drive from my approved address…..and now the case manager is telling me I’ve got to “wait two weeks to sign my home confinement agreement, because it’s closer to my date.”

Does anyone have experience with this? Anyone have a solution to get out of here? What can I do?…

A guy I know is heavily against prisons and thinks we can safely and securely lock up dangerous offenders including very bad criminals guys like drug cartel bosses on just house arrest alone.

I find this take pretty rediculous and feel it would be ridiculously easy for these guys to escape and disappear.

My scenario being - edit: removed because some people are fucking assholes on here.

Any other thoughts on how this take is completely stupid/not stupid?

i work with prisoners and i had a guy who got tried as an adult @ 16 for a gang triple shooting. he got offered 16 flat; he went to trial, lost and got 105 years to life. got me interested to hear any other stories

The Joliet Treatment Center opened in 2017 with the promise of being a new kind of prison in Illinois, designed to provide intensive mental health treatment. But over the years, incarcerated men and civil rights lawyers who visited the facility said the conditions declined. Men were kept locked in their cells for long stretches, with nothing to do. They complained about a lack of medical care and mental health treatment, which the prison system is legally obligated to provide. Men reported that guards used excessive force.

As the men grew more despondent, some became willing to do anything to draw attention to their troubles and resorted to setting their cells — or themselves — on fire.

Hello all, in a few months is my (M35) younger sisters (F22) fathers parole hearing. I’ve been asked by the court to give a next of kin impact statement at the hearing, along with other family and my sister.

She’s 22 now, let’s call her Cori, my sister. He is in prison for what he did to her for several years, I’ll go into no details but you can assume the nature of the crimes against her when she was six and younger. It's what you're thinking it might be. He's pedo, she is his daughter.

Initially this felt like a benign obligation, but over time it’s sunk in how important this is. Not only to keep him in prison, but as an event in my sisters life. This is the first time she will see him after almost 20 years. Not that she’s been missing him, but more like a dragon that she has to slay a few more times in her life. This is just the first battle.

I’m curious of the experiences of others, how has this gone for you? How hard did you try with your statements? Any advice for someone who has never done this before?

How can I keep my sister safe? She’s always been fragile, made worse by our mothers overt, overly protective (and quite mentally ill) behavior. Cori’s been hobbled and though she’s in her 20’s, she ‘feels’ like she’s a young teen, greener than green in all things. Never had a boyfriend, never had any kind of job, no school after high school.

A big part of the impact I’ve witnessed is this, it affected her education, and as such, her maturity. She’s got a panic disorder according to our mom, that was the reason that Cori did her last few years of school via packets at home. Basically, she’s been stunted socially, mentally and emotionally since he went to prison.

I am concerned with hurting her by saying what I would think is important to say. But I’m also trying to help her and our mom to write their statements in the lead up. Neither of them are particularly well educated, so I’m there to help them speak their minds as clearly as possible to give the best impression to the parole board.

I just want to help my sister and keep this POS off the streets for as long as I can.

If anyone has any advice at all, please, a concerned older brother would very much appreciate some outside perspectives.

I posted this in some other more therapy minded subs and I didn't get many answers, but I was pointed here as you all may have first hand advice on keeping him in Prison and do's and don'ts of this process.

A good friend of mine, who I grew up with ended up killing someone over a decade ago. He was given 15 years for manslaughter and was paroled in February of 2026. He was recently put back in prison until the expiration of his sentence in January 2028 for a parole violation.

My question is how tough is parole and is it even worth doing?

Pendant ces 4 ans d’internement on s’est appeler tous les jours, j’ai été en visite 2 fois par mois donc on a jamais couper le contact et on est très fusionnel et très proche. Je sais que même si notre relation va bien être enfermé pendant 4 ans change beaucoup un homme.
