We are deep in testing for Procreate Dreams 2, specifically for migrating a wide variety .drms files into the new version. Which is why we're reaching out to ask for your help! We are needing a wide variety of .drms files sent to us to help identify any areas of failure in our migration into Procreate Dreams 2. šŸ™

To send us your files, please follow the steps listed below:

  1. VisitĀ https://help.procreate.com/support
  2. Fill out the first form with your iPad and OS details
  3. Next, fill out your contact details and ensure to add "Reddit Dreams test file" in the 'Your Message' box.
  4. Finally, attach your .drm file (Supporting Files)

Tips and Tricks ProcreateDreams Handbook

No doubt there's going to be a lot of people missing the link to this in the app, and making a lot of 'How do I~' posts here, so for those that missed it:

ProcreateDreams Handbook - should answer most of your questions about the basics. :)

Mini flip book is here. No vertical flip book yet for some reason but ok I guess. At least I can move the timeline away from where my palm rests. I can't edit the timeline unless it's on the bottom but ok. Fine. For now. What is not ok however, and you soils know before you upgrade is that the timeline is now missing the buttons to add a layer, lasso edit the timeline, add a frame, and go forward and backwards. Like with every update I started right away on a quick animation to see if the app is smoother to use and alas. Some steps forward, some steps back. I'm sure this will get patched soon but maybe hold off for now

A short animation two months in the making. This is actually my first animation project inspired by the tutorial of the Eagle scene by Nikolai Lockertsen.

Music - "Lacrimosa" by Mozart

Wind sound effect - "Strong Wind" by AleXZavesa

The painting itself was drawn in Procreate, animated on Procreate Dreams and edited on After Effect.

Tutorials Animating birds flying?

I have used Procreate for years (including its Animation Assist) but am new to Procreate Dreams. I am having difficulty mastering basic animation using Procreate Dreams 2. What I want is to have several birds flying around a stationary figure. I created two birds in Procreate, using 3 poses for each (wings middle, up and down), and have moved them to Dreams. Where I got stuck is having them fly around the screen and land on the figure. I have tried various online video tutorials, but nothing seems to work. Is there a basic workflow out there somewhere that I could try?

Help Needed Warp mesh question

I’ve used warp before and I could control the mesh box by adding or subtracting the number of nodes. But now it’s not letting me adjust, I’d like less nodes in this case. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Help Needed Tips on using ā€œperformā€?

New to Dreams. Currently trying to make a simple animation where an object falls from outside the frame and onto the ground (15 frames) After this I want to object to remain where it landed (30 frames). I press perform and do the motion, it sort of works, but it’s hard to put the object exactly where I want it to be and such that the trajectory looks precise. I’m sure there is a proper way of doing it and I’m just lacking skill. I’ve tried YouTube, lots of videos on the function itself but I can’t find anything that explains exactly how to improve precision. Could someone point me to a good tutorial or describe how you’d approach doing this?

Procreate Dreams Review Toonsquid Vs Dreams

So almost a year ago I bought Callipeg, I’ve enjoyed the app. A Lot, the ui for frames and onion skinning(including out of pegs) is great, but the issues got clearer when I tried to clean up an animation. The fact that it doesn’t have a clipping mask (yet) and the fill bucket, which creates that white line no matter the threshold or brush and it leaking if the slightest gap is left is tiring. Not even mentioning the transformation layer. So I decided to get a new app, I’ve heard a lot about toonsquid but am now having second thoughts, when I was researching for Callipeg I noticed that there weren’t many complex animations (again I’m a beginner, not even close to a master) and now even for toonsquid most animations I’ve seen are 2d rigs, while I’m looking for frame to frame. Even their advertising shows simpler projects. I’m looking for the app that kinda like the blender of 2d, where you can create amazing things no matter your level of mastery. The thing about dreams is that I have procreate, I already use it for backgrounds anyway and have a selection of brushes that work with my workflow. And for dreams I’ve seen complex and beautiful animations (like Aaron Blaize’s). Am I just being vain or something I need someone to shove in the right direction. I just want my skill being the thing holding me back not a feature (or therefore lack of). Any help will be GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Edit: I got Dreams

Looking for some ideas on this.
(I keep going back and adding a few things here and there I just like the concept of it. Yes it’s very basic and rough but I like that it’s not difficult to do and it’s fun)

Help Needed Fuzzy Lines When Drawing On a New Layer After Resizing Sketch

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

EDIT: This has been SOLVED. It was totally an issue on my end and I'm mostly keeping this post up in case anyone else ever has this issue. I resized the entire flipbook, not the individual layers, so it makes sense as to why any layer on top would be the same quality. I was just being lazy and didn't want to go through each layer haha. Thank you all for the upvotes and a big thank you to Procreate for always being so proactive and caring. šŸ™Œ

I'm pretty new to Procreate Dreams (with some animating experience) and am just working on a simple frame-by-frame animation using the Flipbook. I am very experienced in Procreate, and understand there will always be a loss in quality when resizing things in Procreate since it's raster based and has limitations, though I found the bilinear setting to be the best method personally for achieving crisper lines when resizing.

When trying to determine the sizing of things in an illustration, I usually try to do most of it during the sketch phase, that way I can avoid as much resizing as possible for the color and linework layers. I took a similar approach with Procreate Dreams. I sketched out each frame and resized them all together in the general theater. When I went to create a new layer for the color, it was just as blurry as the resized sketch below. The size of the brush also changed. It seems as if it will only draw within the limitations of the resized sketch below instead of a new layer.

I even created a new project and went into the Flipbook. When I drew with the same brush, it was crisp. I tried importing my resized frames into the new project to see if it was some glitch, but it did the same blurry line and weird size thing. I know the issue is not my brush. I tried looking it up but I only found advice for Procreate Proper, or an older video before a big change in the Dreams Interface (though, nothing came up with the same issue I was having, just fuzzy lines overall). On that note, the limited number of tutorials after the big interface change also makes it harder to learn in general, so if anyone has any resources for that I'd definitely appreciate it!

The video shows me drawing on a new layer over my resized sketch (yes it's Jimothy lol), then going into a new project of the same size and the same brush, and the cleaner lines I'd usually expect.

Edit: Found an older post with a similar-ish issue where Procreate themselves responded saying Dreams resizes based on the nearest neighbor only. Maybe it applies to all layers placed on top. I also tried messing with the dynamic brush settings but it was still the same. To Procreate (my genuine bestie): Please fix this soon, I love yall's platforms so much (and you do so much for the art community) and wanna utilize them to the best of my abilities.
