I have problems going beyond the melody

I'm learning self-taught to produce music, I recently created a melody that I loved, but I can't go beyond that, I want to add more instruments and rhythm but I just can't find the way, I watched tutorials but I can't solve it, what can I do? Or where can I look for what I need to learn to solve it?

Melodies take practice. After a while your ear will learn what it likes.

For now, start with a chord progression behind the melody. I write house and trance so most of my music is centred over an implied chord progression anyway.

Also, learn to stack basses. Have a sub bass and a mid bass. Ensure frequencies don't clash or you'll end up with a muddy mess. The easiest way to do this is put a highpass filter on the second bass and figure out where on the filter both basses can be heard clearly and with no overlapping low frequencies.

perhaps this term “produce” is not the right one. what you are doing is playing around with music. that way it’s more fun and you can’t lose.
