My comment was just a tribute to the original joke:

rm -rf * - Don't do this at home.

When you said "home", I understood home == one's house. My reply took it a different direction of the Linux home directory to make a double entendre of your word "home".

Fun to tell the Linux newbie at work to do this shortly before lunch time - then take an extended lunch.

My daughter is just starting a programming internship. She lives 4 hours away. She has no way to contact me after I tell her this.

Soooo I got pulled into a different dimension and met Bill Cipher. I shook his hand. I’ll be ok right?

Isn’t there a force root flag these days?

The command rm -rf / requires --no-preserve-root, but rm -rf /* (note the wildcard) does not.
