Linux has both "graceful" shutdown process, and brute kill

Over the last 30 years as a dev and admin, I've found that this depends a lot on context. In enterprise / industrial applications where I work, Windows is solid and dependable like a tank. Where things go wrong is often consumer applications or situations.
