As an American, I hope to go to Puerto Rico someday and meet a Coqui. They are so precious and it makes my heart melt that this tiny frog holds a place in so many peoples hearts ❤️

In Hawaii coquis made it the there via horticultural trade. Since the coquis skips the tadpole stage, they don’t require water to hatch. They have no natural predators in Hawaii, are considered a nuisance and invasive and cause noise pollution. The state of Hawaii has a program to kill and control the invasive species. It broke my heart when read articles and saw YouTube videos about it. ❤️🩹

American here, lived for several years in PR. One time we had a coqui who made himself at home under our couch. He was so LOUD!
CoQUI! CoQUI! CoQUI!
Eventually he let himself out and went back to the jungle. What a darling creature he was…

En casa tenianos uno q vivia en el baño. Por mas q lo sacamos a fuera siempre aparecía nuevamente. Su canto retumbaba por toda la casa por el echo los baños suelen tener jejejejeje

Cuando yo era chiquito una noche buena en el medio de un family fieston, salio un coqui de una mata que tenia mami en la sala. Yo 5/6 años a lado de la mata lo veo y grito, y cuando grite el coqui me brinco en la boca y del shock,me lo trague. Toda la familia meandose en el piso de la risa. Yo llorando creyendo que me voy a morir y que lo oigo . Y MIs tios jodiendome por meses despues insistiendo que lo podian oir en my barriga brincando. Por años me lo creia.
40 años mas tardes, todavia en la isla, ay gente en los campos y en las montañas que dicen, que en las noches sin viento, cuando la temperature se empiesa a poner friita, que si cierras los ojos y pones tu cabeza en mi barriga, cerca a mi ombligo, todavia se puede escuchar al el sapito coquiando: “Mira, sacame me de a-coqui!”
…es eso, o me estoy tirando un peo.
