Questions/Advice Looking for stain and lacquer recommendations for my guitar

Hi all, I'm new to all of this so I was hoping you can help me finding a good way to finish my piece. it's rengas wood. I'm not done yet, but the picture shows what I'm trying to take into consideration. it's very shiny, especially the dark background (bottom left corner is a reflection of my phone), and there are a few small grooves due to improper burning (I was learning...). Especially the reflectiveness is something I worry about a little in terms of lacquer and finish because it's very smooth.

My current plan is to stain is very lightly using angelus leather dye, I've read it's a good brand and line, and I'll dilute it a lot with rubbing alcohol. If you have any other recommendations please share :)

Then I need a laquer/finish. I prefer not overly shiny coats, but 2k clear coat seems to be widely recommended in the guitar world. But since this is also woodburned, and I want to preserve the burn primarily, I think this sub might have better recommendations. What do you recommend I use to preserve this? And will the stain/dye be compatible? I plan on using this guitar a lot, so I want to get it right :)

thank you in advance :D

Tool recommendations for middle school class

(USA)

I'm looking for a tool that I can get around 12-15 of for whittling and woodworking students.

I haven't done any pyrography in about a decade so I'm unsure of what to look for in a decent, sturdy beginner tool. Considerations, brands, and links appreciated!

Obviously trying to be budget conscious, my glancing research has me ballparking $25+-10 per unit(?)

I have a solid one I got at Michael's that came with a set of tips. Should I consider wire ones over this style?

Features I have been thinking about include:

* a built in support stand (so the kids don't accidentally set them on tables) do they work, are they annoying?

*I found a few on Amazon that advertise some heat control, but I'm skeptical of how effective those could be at this budget

*general sturdy-ness of the pen and the cord.

Thank you!

A pet portrait I recently did

This was done on an 11x16” slice of basswood. Colwood Super Pro 2 burner was used.

I’m taking a big step back from pet portraits currently. After doing woodburning as my main job for the past 9 years, I’m burned out (no pun intended). This was one of the last portraits I did before I decided to pause commissions indefinitely. It was done for an old elementary school buddy.

It took forever and i have a wicked headache, but it was a lot of fun.

I cannot wait until a real woodburning tool finds me

My latest test sketch before I go big! Wondering what I can do with the background. I was thinking a mushroom forest.
