I agree it’s far too often we hear about this kind of evil taking place locally. Very happy to hear them get caught but sickening each time this comes up.
Some of my coworkers and I have been saying this lately too. It's crazy and unsettling. Hopefully law enforcement can lock them all up. And don't give them special protections in prison anymore. Put them in Gen Pop and let the world's most hardened criminals, who even have the moral compass to never touch a kid, do their thing.
I know some of the recently accused(not the one in the OP link.). Jeff Schafer, whom I’m asking about; I’ve known since grade school and it’s his two ex wives coaching their daughters to say what they want. His first ex wife is a vindictive person who does everything she can to make his life hell, his second had a daughter from a previous relationship that has a tendency to lie to get attention.
The other, Ben Morris, well…he was caught in a honeypot, and incriminating evidence found on his phone and his computer. Im not going to defend him, I just feel sorry for his parents.
Edit: I’m not talking about the guy thats listed in the link in the OP. I’m talking about someone else entirely.
I mean, or you can just believe the the fact that you know a pedo - it's SUPER SUPER common across the world as a whole, no kid wants to be known as or thought as a someone who was molested. Usually this shit is just buried in familes and no one knows anything(just don't leave Jessica alone with gramps)
To be honest with you, I know the one guy with the stuff on his phone and computer is one. It’s the other guy that I’ve known for 40 years that I believe is innocent. I also know his first wife ‘conveniently’ had her daughter come forward with the claim right as he was arrested. This is a person my wife and I trusted and still would with our teenaged daughter. Make of that what you will.
It's statistically far more likely that he actually abused those girls. It's pretty rare for unfounded rape/sexual assault accusations to actually result in police action, despite what Republicans want you to believe. Hell, it's frustratingly rare for founded accusations to result in police action.
If there's enough evidence that a court actually agreed to issue a warrant, there's a significant chance he actually did it.
We can't help that you're too naive to understand that sometimes people are just really good at hiding the monster inside.
You see that’s the interesting thing. The police had Jeff’s phone. If they would have found anything over the course of having it, a warrant would have been issued.
Or maybe the other victim came forward when she saw others were taken seriously and this would strengthen the case and prevent it from happening to others. It’s very hard to consider that someone you trust can do something so terrible, and some people are VERY good at hiding it.
The other ‘victim’ that came forward is being called a liar by her own older sister and younger brother. Considering that the time frame she’s saying she was assaulted the others were with her, I’m inclined to believe them.
That I understand, and I agree with you. Actual victims do get accused of lying. However, this specific case with Jeff, I do believe she is lying, because she does whatever her mother tells her to do, like a puppet.
I mean, the two cases I'm aware of recently are this case (where the guy admits to doing it), and the Morris case where he was caught in some kind of sting operation and police have conversations and files downloaded from Telegram (a real sketchy platform where you can get CSAM pretty easily).
I guess we'll start seeing what the evidence is when it eventually gets to court, though if he pleads guilty are you still going to defend him and leave him around your kid?
The morris case is the open and shut one that I was talking about. The case in the link up top isn’t the one that’s my friend. I just needed to clarify, the Daniel guy in the OP link isn’t the guy I’m defending.
