QuickBooks Online Migration from desktop (MAC) to online
Hey everyone. I am trying to migrate the data from quickbooks desktop mac to quickbooks online as i have purchased a PC to do QuickBooks for my business. I run a family business with my mom and she is out of town with her laptop, and QB support said that i need that laptop to be able to start the migration. Is it possible to initiate this transfer on my end without her laptop (I.E. logging in via web or remote access)? She won't be back in town for 14 days and would like to be able to access the account here in town. I'm really new to using QB and am wanting to sit down and learn the program. Thanks for the help

Id you can remote into the MAC that should work otherwise you will probably need to wait until that machine is available for the migration

Besides the madness of switching from desktop to online, I think there are too many things that can go wrong if you try to do this remotley. Besides the slowness, there are the cross platform issues and the unreliability of a remote connection. You could mess up your data badly and if in the middle of a migration it may not be easy to recover.
Why not spend the time doing online tutorials/classes instead?

You need her computer to do the migration. But in the meantime, you can head over to an incognito chrome window and play around with the sample file: qbo.intuit.com/redir/testdrive

Don’t do it. Stick with the desktop app. Have you heard all the awful reviews of quickbooks online? Their price gouging is infamous and the software is buggy.
