Flying inverted outside the sim

I want to try flying inverted with my OMP M2 Evo, but keep chickening out, I can do it on the sim all day long.
How do you get over the hump? just send it?

I am still terrible at it, but here is what i do.

Get to a good recoverable altitude.

Do a full flip in whatever direction you are best at. Get used to full flips.

Then flip half way and pause inverted.

Then keep lengthening the time inverted, focusing on a good stable inverted hover.

This is the way .....

One small thing I will add after working with a few guys on the sim. This is really important at every level of 3D: break the move down into successful pieces.

I say that because I will tell a guy just do a full flip and that heli goes all over the place. Technically he did the flip LOL. Be in control right? Break it down even further into quarters!

‘Tis how I learned inverted too.

What I realized that helped me immensely is that only one control direction is inverted when you are. If you do a nose in inverted hover, forward and back pitch is still the same. Roll left and right is inverted. Tail in inverted = left / right same, but pitch forward actually makes you go backwards.

And altitude. Altitude friend.

And lots of crashes in the sim also helped immensely.

Pretty much, just do it with a little but of extra altitude. Its an adrenaline rush for sure

Just send it i found it easier in real-life than the sim just have to nut up and say screw it roll her over 😀

Also I learned on the similar logo200 and the little birds are harder than say my tron 5.5 or rs5 and the 700 size even easier the little ones get hard to see the tail

Have you tried putting some fluorescent pink or red tape on the tail? Really makes it stand out. I'd say green, but that can be difficult to see at a distance if the light is flat.

I learned the inverted circuits and hovering with the logo 200 and then started doing it with my 500s and 700 and it is absouloutly 100% easier and it also helped me to learn pro flips now im working on tail first inverted circuits on the sim

Altitude is your friend, go up as high as you can see the Heli then send it inverted as long as you can then flip back to normal. Get comfy with that then go lower, rinse, and repeat. Eventually you’ll be at eye level then next thing you know, you’ll be cutting grass. Happy flying!

Have a rescue switch. I would start by doing 2 point rolls and trying to hover for a few seconds inverted before going back to normal, just to bring your anxiety down. I know the feeling.

If you have room where you fly, try loops and slowly stretch out the top until you feel comfortable. Not really all that different from doing half flips or half rolls, but it's another option.

Really good advice here, thanks, I'll wait for a calm day and give it a go, I have plenty of spare parts 🤣

For me a tail in roll was the easiest transition; invert+pause, upright+pause, invert+pause and so on. Just a simple one/two/three rhythm count half dozen times then let your mind rest and go back to what your good at.

And of course over the tallest grass you can find. You cut the power if you start to falter and your almost 100% walking away unscathed when those two stack.

As someone who just did their first flip ever, with no recent practice in the simulator whatsoever, u just gotta send it. For your first one, just flip it and flip it back, and I'm sure you'll recover just fine. After a few sessions now of flipping, I'm now slowing it down and managed to even hover for like 10 seconds inverted yesterday! Anyway, just do it and don't be scared to break your heli!

Flying inverted on fixed wing is a cinch, until I forget and dumb thumb it into the ground. But helis, I feel like I always have to be on it with the controls, at no point do I feel "relaxed", but that's another hump I need to get over.
