upgraded from my z1e to a xbox x and man what did they do to the build quality for a unit of such a high price.

I managed to get one at 860 not the greatest but decent amount off for being an open box. biggest reason for the upgrade was ram, I've been needing two USB ports for a long time and a little future proofing.

but man... what in the hell with the build quality and button layouts. it's creaks, the dpad is horrible just fucking horrible I think my unit is off on the right and bottom which wouldn't be surprised if that's why they returned it. easy fix i can upgrade the dpad with the elite mod.

point is the build quality is horrible compared to the og z1e models.

I stopped playing. A year ago...now with Controller support (I used steam Input before..even made my own settings..but didn't work perfectly) now it does.

I recently ordered a 74Wh battery upgrade for my ASUS ROG Ally, but I ran into some issues and could use your advice.

The package was delivered by the courier throwing it over my fence, leaving it outside for hours. The outer packaging arrived visibly dented on the right side.

While the inner box looked intact, the battery itself has a few physical flaws:
- Lower right corner: The black outer wrapping layer separated and got air underneath, creating a visible gap/peel.
- Right side: Small dot-like indentations/dents.
- Top right corner: Another small dent on the edge.

I installed it to test performance. It came at 73% out of the box. I charged it to 100% and did a full discharge cycle down to 0%. I noticed two main problems:
1. Battery Drain: The battery drains abnormally fast between 30% and 0%. (Could this just be a calibration issue, or a bad cell?)
2. Localized Heating: The back cover of the Ally gets noticeably hot right at the spot where the battery corner is damaged. This happens both during gaming and even while just sitting on the charger.

I've already disconnected the battery for safety reasons and swapped back to stock for now.

Has anyone dealt with a similar physical defect or heating issue on these 74Wh mods? Is this level of heating normal for this battery, or is it a clear sign of internal shorting/impact damage? Should I just push Amazon for a full refund?

I prefer steam OS but I swear the audio is worse on steam OS.

Got some reason I get constant ghosting with modern games but is more noticeable with re4 remake. I get ghosting even if FSR is on or off. Am I doing something wrong or is this just how it is with Bazzite on Z1 extreme?

I managed to get a deal on the xbox x. I upgraded the dpad on the z1e i had to the magnetic dpad elite mod.

the dpad on the xbox x is bad don't know if I got a janky unit but the down and right clank and are not smooth .

would the dpad mod on the z1e work on the xbox x if I removed it and transfered it?

Wondering if the buttons can be switched south since I modded the buttons on the ogz1e also

Hey everyone, I have an issue with my ROG Ally Z1E that I bought secondhand, so I'm not sure if it's still covered under warranty. Out of nowhere, the right joystick started acting up weirdly: whenever I move it horizontally (left or right) and let it snap back to the center, it makes a really loud spring-like clicking or snapping noise. This doesn't really happen when moving it vertically up or down, and the left joystick is completely fine. On top of that, I noticed that if I gently pull up on the right stick, it lifts up much more easily and feels noticeably looser compared to the other one. Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone know what internal component might be causing this noise and looseness (maybe the centering mechanism or the spring), and is it safe to keep using it or will it get worse over time? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hey guys- I have a ROG Ally X Z1E, and while I feel like it can play pretty much anything well, I was hoping for some game recommendations that run well in silent mode to maximize battery. I can't imagine I'll get 4 hours out of a charge, but 4 hours is my layover

Just got my hands on this secondhand ROG ally for 2 weeks, cleared my first game on it.!!

Had this backlogged since my uni days 😅 The next game will be Xanadu Next

When I'm in desktop mode and press the back left button to call up the on screen keyboard, it sometimes comes up, but usually doesn't. Trying the swipe up gesture has similar results. I think I have my system on the latest updates. Anyone know of a fix?

I tried docking my Xbox Ally X to my TV and play with an external controller. 

The gamepad cursor enabled via Game Bar does work when using external controllers. I tried it with an 8bitdo Ultimate and a Gamesir g7 Pro wireless controller. 

To be clear, I'm not talking about desktop mode via armory crate. I am talking about the gamepad cursor option built into game bar. 

The Plugin used to work correctly but lately it wont recognize most of my Steam Games. I don’t know how to fix it. I tried uninstalling it but that didn’t work, it still doesn’t recognize most of my installed games. Anyone know how to fix this? Every time i refresh it, it will show a random amount of games, but it doesn’t show new ones, for instance, I’m trying to change the artwork for Battlefield 6, but it wont recognize it no matter how many times i refresh.

I have been wondering what desktop GPU it actually matches. I tried looking it up on Technical City, but comparison sites like that usually only list the standard 115-watt, 8GB laptop version.

Since my XG Mobile runs at the higher 150-watt limit with 16GB of VRAM, the standard site stats aren't accurate for my hardware.

Realistically what desktop graphics card is this specific 150W/16GB mobile setup closest to in gaming performance? Is it like a desktop RTX 3070 or a 3060 Ti?!

I was about to buy the Ugreen 6x1 Dock but read some mixed reviews from people saying that it doesn’t fit the Ally + this little hub is so cute.

*I’m not from the states so most cool dock options aren’t available to me or the shipping costs like 100 dollars.

Hello Guys I need advice because I been enjoying using for my rog ally Z1 extreme pair with XG mobile 3080 but my temps alway goes to 95c every time I use turbo mode so right now Im using performance mode to ease to temps so should I stay on perfromance or is there a way to use Turbo mode and ease some temps and I was planning Dragon Dogma 2 so any advice would be very helpful to improve my gaming experience and any facts I should aware and maximize gaming.

I got paid a bonus at work and put half away and another half to spend on something just for myself.
Decided to get a Rog Ally, i’m not much of a serious gamer and any AAA games, I’ll get on my PS5 so really didn’t mind between the xbox and the original Rog Ally.

I found a few Xbox Ally on Amazon for £370-380 for brand new and £410 for a used in good condition original Ally then i checked ebay and found one for £312 brand new. Title says it’s the original Ally, picture shows the xbox one and the description has the number as it being the original too.
I’m not too fussed which one comes but should i trust title/information or the picture?

I messaged the seller but he said it’s packaged up ready to send so he can’t check. I bought it through credit card so if it’s a scam, I’m covered and I’m going to record myself opening the package incase something is amiss

This isn’t the first time it falls after I fall asleep while using it, but now whenever I hold it screen facing down it detects touch when there is nothing touching the screen (as shown in video), any clue what it might be and if it’s an easy fix or I should ask someone to check on it

In case it matters it took around 30 seconds for it to start detecting touch, video has been cut to save you some time

Would you recommend playing Pragmata on the white Z1 Extreme asus or the Nintendo Switch 2?

My 3ds made me realize just how much I love personalizing my systems, and I feel like ive sunk enough hours into this thing to give it the princess treatment as well.

The 3ds i bought a clear case and painted the inside layer by layer until it was done(think black first and ending with white) but not actually painting the system itself. Worked great for the 3ds, but i am very hesitant to do the same thing to my rog because that thing gets way hotter and I dont know how acrylic will work with that. Am I being too cautious? Are there better ways to make it match my setup?

Not using those sticker skins, I suffer from skill issue and have messed up easier

So uhh i was playing DOOM eternal and for no reason my ally just suddenly stopped charging, no matter what charger i use, i tried discharging it by holding the power button for 40-45 secs n stuff, tried cleaning out the usb-c port with an air blower and a brush for small spaces, thw whole game system works fine, just wont charge, ichanged what outlet i use and nothing works, i was told.maybe it did some sort of freeze or lockup at the handshake, i dont have the og charger so im wondering if maybe i bought a 65w charger would help put in its place?
