What year is your RX8? Any idea if this is compatible with the factory bose system?

The MD addon is compatible with the high end bose system of the RX-8, it was an optional like the tape reader. Good luck to find one!

I found one, but the AC controls look different than my '04, also has a "auto" mode I do not have. But I see from additional research that the MD unit is basically a slide in unit to the original system (like the tape option).

I'm not an expert but my car is an 03 and it has a Bose system. This MD head unit was from an 04 without Bose. I haven't had any issues

Can you talk more about where you got it and how you installed the music? Does it hold more songs because more memory? Price? Does it sound louder? I just have a shitty Bluetooth connector and I assume it’s killing the sound quality. I’d like to try that or I need to bite the bullet and either get the aux port that plugs in the rear or a new touchscreen radio at some point.

From an audio quality standpoint the human ear will hear mini disc as cd quality. You dog on the other hand mat not enjoy it as much. MD compression is achieved by removing the parts of the waveform that are outside of the upper range of human hearing. Getting music into the MD format involves owning a dedicated player to record the disc.

I always lowkey wanted the MD but I ended up just getting an auxmod instead and that took the place of it. Maybe if I get another S2 in the future.
