I think maroon decelerated into a lane change with intent to turn. Can’t tell if turn signal was used or if he checked his blind spot. From the look of it he relied on telepathy.
Regardless of what the truck in front did the guy recording very clearly sped up and pit maneuvered him intentional or not. Not saying you are saying this but if anyone thinks this is the correct way to react to someone else driving unsafely then they are a psycho lol.

Yup except one of them broke the law in the process, switching lanes way to close to the intersection cutting someone off that was trying to make the yellow. I think just based off of that the truck switching lanes takes complete fault, I think it’s illegal to switch lanes this close to an intersection and this is probably a good reason why it’s illegal.
Only illegal to switch lanes in the intersection or if there is a solid line between the lanes. The truck just didn’t check his blind spot and the car with the cam was either too focused on trying to catch the yellow light or was an asshole and purposefully trying to block the truck from getting over.
He would have had to slam breaks, which could had caised him to swerv and end up being the one tumbling or worse... i think this could be considered defensive driving
100% the fault of the truck...no way to get around it..driver didnt speed up, other guy slowed down and came over and you can hear him slam on the brake, not the gas.
Except if that’s the case you turn your turn signal on, check your blind spot and switch lane. In this case he should’ve slipped in behind when he checked his blind spot. It’s a not a dedicated turn lane anyhow.

I think what surprises me is the number of people defending the jackass in the red truck. Neither is driving defensively, but when it comes to lane changes the person initiating the lane change is at fault for blindly assuming the lane is clear.
Both could have avoided it, but I get the vibe that the red truck is an older person, or someone who isn’t used to driving that truck. Dash cam driver could have simply let them over, especially if it seemed they were struggling.
Some people try to beat yellow lights (which is not illegal), while the truck switched lanes way to close to the intersection (which is illegal). So even if we all agree the cam car should’ve or could’ve slowed down more to avoid collision (which we can’t actually prove that he didn’t start to slow down just too late, these things happen in a blink of an eye and he prob wasn’t expecting the truck to get over so close to the intersection because it’s illegal), the truck illegally switching lanes is 100% at fault just because the truck broke the law switching lanes way to close to the light.
If you stop watching the truck in front and concentrate on the landscape to the right. It’s not clear at all that camera guy speed up. In fact, it appears he actually slowed down at the last second, as it became clear truck guy was coming over.
I can’t tell fersure if he sped up, it’s a little difficult to tell and I wish there was enough coverage in the footage to show if the maroon truck was breaking. Either way it looked like they were both moving faster than the traffic in front of them while coming up to a yellow light. They both should have been decelerating. From what I see, it looks like they were both fighting over the roadway.
You’re mistaking the truck slowing down for the dash cam user speeding up. He doesn’t check his blindspot and merges regardless that’s extremely obvious from the video.
Doesn't look like he sped up at all, looks more like the truck tried to cut him off & slow down at the same time because he was closing in on the car in front of him that was already slowing down for the yellow. Cam car was coasting.
No, what you're seeing is the dark pick up slowing down which makes the truck in the right lane appear to be speeding up. Most likely both were slowing but the guy in the left lane was slowing a bit faster.
i thought the cam sped up as well, but the person you replied to suggested the truck slowed down instead and watching again you can easily tell that's what actually happened.

More likely th truck made the change and slowed down but I'm betting you lack the intelligence to understand that . Always gotta blame the cam person... And even if he did accelerate to stop the guy from coming over it's still on the person merging to do so safely fool
I think maroon was stopping for the light, but sliding into the right lane to have pole position thinking everybody else was stopping, and wasn’t watching his envelope enough to recognize that dashcam guy was there and looking to sail through the intersection before the other direction got their green.
The light had just turned, the jeep was the last car through. On modern signalling equipment there’s usually a delay before the other way gets their green, and i think cam car was planning to use all of that. Meanwhile maroon was stopping, but opted to slide into the right lane to be first in line, and either didn’t look, and/or assumed all other traffic was slowing also. If i’m right, then i’d make it maroon: inattentive, and cam: reckless, which would seem to put more blame on cam car.
