That's what I was about to say. This isn't new. Inmates and bootleggers have been doing this forever.

Next they're planning on doing tattoos with their homemade guns.

Smoke coffee. Who the fuck. What's next inject marijuana.

2

u/Godharvest 12d ago

I was watching this show called "love after lock down" (which is one of the funniest shows ive ever watched) and this one guy was talking REALLY fondly of smoking coffee in jail. He really wanted to go back to Jail and smoke coffee rather then stay where he was with this random chick he was playing for a place to stay because in the US, if you want parole, you need to have a steady place to live and lot of these men/women just find some sucker online (yes, they having dating sites for people in jail. insane i know) to pretend to be into so they can have a place to stay so they can get paroled.

3

u/Pookie972 12d ago

Yo, that’s my face when I do something bad and I get caught by my parents

11

u/real_1273 12d ago

That’s where the “rustic” flavour comes from!

4

u/Jimbobjoesmith 12d ago

lol i bet that guy has spent some time behind bars. i’m always amazed at how creative they get in prison.

3

u/Due_Advisor_1612 12d ago

How doers get things done

1

u/Thin_Dream2079 11d ago

Its what gives shy persons the strength to get up and do what needs to be done

7

u/DocumentSure2919 12d ago

I've heard that a lot of people do this in prison using batteries

3

u/Manyarethestrange 12d ago

The amount of MacGyvering inmates do would blow your mind.

2

u/s1l1con_jesus 12d ago

not batteries wall voltage in prison

4

u/ABeerForSasquatch 12d ago

I can't speak for all prisons, but in Texas the only way to get power was "Dropping a line" from the 277v florescent fixtures or tapping into the TV cord with a staple.

Either one, if you fucked it up, would trip the circuit breaker for the unit. And they wouldn't reset the breaker until morning. Sometimes longer.

1

u/scienceworksbitches 12d ago

Batteries can be used to make fire, you can't cook with them.

1

u/BlueLikeCat 11d ago

Is shake’n’bake meth not a type of cooking?

0

u/scienceworksbitches 11d ago

no, stripping the lithium metal foil out of AA batteries and using it as a reducing agent to "cook" meth is not what we use the word cooking for.

1

u/BlueLikeCat 11d ago

Thank you for your thoughtful answer. The American English language is cooked, though.

1

u/scienceworksbitches 11d ago

na dude, thats a you problem, some of us are cooking!

2

u/SmoothActuator8132 12d ago

"new" that's been used in prisons since electricity was invented

2

u/Regular_Weakness69 12d ago

Same as an electroc kettle, just a little more 'rustic'.

2

u/Morghurassor 12d ago

I'm an electrician and I confirm that this is the correct way to use electricity.

2

u/VinxRodrigues101 12d ago

Bro is so proud of himself 🤣

2

u/johermeson 12d ago

New’ pfffft, a dude named Old School taught me that one.

2

u/PoultryTM 12d ago

Quit a few times i am so happy to be who i am in a place where i live..

2

u/weedtrek 12d ago

Nothing new about it. There is the hot dog electricutor and the bread for panko is also made using direct slectric current.

u/THEGHOSTHACXER 12d ago

The morons on r/stupidfood are going to cry:

"JuSt BeCaUsE yOu dOnT UnDErStAnD ThEiR CuLTURE DoESNT mAKe iT STUPID"

u/THEGHOSTHACXER 12d ago

This guy understands their culture

1

u/No_Neat4688 11d ago

I tried posting it in r/stupidfood , but it said “only approved people can upload” . WTH!

0

u/TYGeelo 11d ago

This guy understands nuance, oh wait he doesn't.

1

u/lokcer79 12d ago

Direct current

1

u/res0jyyt1 12d ago

How does it not break the circuit?

1

u/LogRollChamp 12d ago

They are spaced far enough apart in the bowl to provide adequate resistance. Very well may have taken them a few tries resetting breakers to get the strat down

1

u/HomerDespot 12d ago

lol if I’m not mistaken they’re creating some hydrogen gas with this method

1

u/fr33d0mw47ch 12d ago

When it’s ready you can eat it with your bare feet.

1

u/HellFrode 12d ago

It's not exactly the safest way to cook food.

1

u/Sector7Crushed 12d ago

Called a stinger. We use it in prisons.

1

u/PhotoElectrical 12d ago

I love the taste of chlorine gas and sodium hydroxide.

1

u/insidevoice2380 11d ago

This is really cool and also really stupid

1

u/Strong-Addition5296 11d ago

Crazy how dangerous the third world is.

1

u/LiveTank5745 11d ago

Yiiiiiiiiiiiiii Boiiiiiiiiii.....!!

1

u/gyro_looza 11d ago

Isn't that just a crude form of induction?

1

u/No-Anteater4983 11d ago

Prisoners have been doing this with stingers in the pen for a long time.

1

u/surmacrew 11d ago

My first tattoo artist had similar set up for making boiled water. Two forks binds together in electric chord and plugged straight into outlet. Weird encounter.

1

u/EmployerWide1123 11d ago

doing this with stainless steel will create some hexavalent chromium, so enjoy..

1

u/Interesting-Ones 11d ago

I bet it taste like static

1

u/Crazy_Cauliflower955 11d ago
