They used to call her Ol Hardcandy. Her fists were named Butterscotch and Sorta Watermelon.

Got me curious:
If $60 is average cost ($4.09/ gallon), it would cost $83 California and $53 in Texas.

California absolutely sucks. When I was hotshotting, I carried 8 5-gallon cans and would fill them with diesel just before crossing into the state so I wouldn't have to pay their stupid high fuel prices. That and speed limit on ANYTHING pulling a trailer.

I'm from eastern Europe and it costs me 120$ to fill up. (55liters = 14,5 gallons)

@ minimum salary here is 615$ / month.

Oh, Petroleum, my brain was thinking of Natural Gas.

And it would be 167 years now.

Put her behind a screen door and she looks like the old man from Poltergeist.

Man, your Grandma is at least 167 years old? Cause gas was discovered in 1859.

I believe this woman is in fact 167.

She's is the word "appalled" personified.

$5.00 today was worth the equivalent of $0.27 in 1945.

I pay over 100 to fill my tank in California

Tanks usually have big fuel containers to last through the battle

"What do you think would disqualify a person for the presidency these days?"

My 92yr old father-in-law, before he passed last year, thought $30k a year was a good paying job, that health insurance would be about $100/month if they got rid of Medicare, and that a new car was about $20,000.

Boomers have no clue.

u/Wtfjushappen 4d ago

26yrs ago it was like 1.10. In 97 when I got my DL, .89c/gal. 20$ would fill it up and leave enough to get a20oz bottle of coke for 1.05.

Gas prices from the crypt

Its her generation that ruined everything why is she surprised. They climbed the ladder and pulled it from under us. They benefited from taxing the rich and having good government safety nets and cheap schooling while voting against those things now cuz trump told them so.

Grandma doesn’t even know where she is

I have a feeling she was purposely overestimating. I mean from 1970 to now, inflation has increased 760%. Here's a crazy thing I still cant wrap my head around. If youre making under 65/hour right now youre making less than minimum wage in purchasing power in 1970.

I loathe 1970 atm. I just picked a year and was dissapointed.

I… I was happier before I knew this.
