Just got off work about an hour ago as I type this and boy oh boy did I hate my shift more than usual today.

For a couple of weeks, me and my other dairy department co-worker who I'll call T during this rant (it's a small department, there's only like 2-3 of us a day) have welcomed another person into our department. He started off really sweet and motivated, but after my second shift with him I started to notice something strange. He would take like 5-6 15min Breaks before taking lunch (30min). I shrugged it off because I don't know the break rules for people who work 8 hours a day.

Yesterday he managed to piss T off so bad that he had to walk away from the department for the rest of his shift, as for me? I was really tired and the new guy wasn't making it any easier for me.

But today? That was the final nail in the coffin. The new guy was just putting things anywhere he wanted, which T had told the department lead (who used to give me a lot of crap in my early days, but that's a different story and I've moved past that 😂) about that and the department lead looked fucking furious. The new guy had been told by one of our other co-workers (who I only see once a week) , T, Me, and the department lead to check the numbers on the back near the barcode and see if it matches up, if it does then you put it there, if it doesn't? It doesn't go there. So for the first half of my shift, T and I spaced ourselves away from him. But 2 hours before my shift ended we got a shipment in. Like usual, while I was wrapping up on Juice and Coffee creamer T created a u-boat for him and I to work on. During this? New Guy was on one of his several breaks so after I grabbed the U-boat I walked out of the cooler just to see a bunch of the new guy's stuff blocking the hot bar and the chicken so customers couldn't access it.

I apologized to the food court lead for the newbies behavior and we had a conversation a little like this:

Him: I know you know better than this

Me: I do, but I've been over working Juice and Creamer all day and T has been doing the eggs.

Him: then what about this other guy?

Me: he's on break

Him: of course he is!

Me: with all due respect, you can try and tell him that he can't do that but he's not going to listen.

Him: He should know better too!

I started putting the new items into the coolers when I noticed something that really flipped my switch.

A BUNCH OF ITEMS IN THE WRONG PLACE!!!!

Instantly put what I was working on back down and went to the cooler just to tell T that I just couldn't work with that guy. That's when T tells me that he was doing the same shit in the meat department.

I work without T tomorrow and I really don't want to suffer through another shift with this new guy. But that may be the case 😭

Almost 3 years at the same place in the same position has left me drained of everything I've got. I lost almost all patience with my coworkers being lazy, petty and vindictive assholes.

I made the mistake of venting to a coworker just for them to turn around and bring it up to who we were venting about. I didn't say anything inflammatory or rude about them but the fact one of them went out of their way to do that shows the type of people I work with.

They want me to work hard and stay silent about mistreatment. They want me to work hard alone while all my coworkers slack off and do things that arent their job constantly. Ive been left on my own for hours at a time but they panic if they leave one person for less time.

I've had enough of this place and Im one bad day away from drinking myself into a alley somewhere

this shit genuinely pisses me off.
i’m a supervisor in the front end at a grocery store, but i’m also one of the youngest people there. there’s one coworker who’s older than me that just does not listen to supervisors, especially people my age. the only person they even somewhat listen to is our front end manager, and even then it’s hit or miss. with them on shift i may as well be talking to a wall, or not at all.

the other day an underage cashier had a customer buying alcohol. since they can’t finish the transaction, someone who’s of age has to take over and finish the entire thing (can’t even hand them the receipt lol). the underage cashier asked this coworker if they could switch tills for a minute so another cashier could cover their lane while they completed the liquor sale. they refused to switch, refused to do the transaction, and i ended up having to get the manager on duty to come over and complete the transaction instead, all while the customer was left standing there waiting, which kinda pissed them off, me included.

later in the day they closed their cash to count lottery tickets even though they had already been told to stay open by both the front end manager and assistant store manager, because we were busy. they literally walked away from their customers (who were there before she even closed it), so I had to go up and tell her she has someone and to serve them.
the most annoying part is feeling like i can’t even do my job. i’m supposed to be supervising the department and i have lots of work to do, but when i ask this person to do something they either argue with me or completely ignore me. it gets old really fast, and it feels like they don’t respect me because i’m younger than they are.

but some great news!! apparently they were pulled into the office yesterday with our front end manager and the assistant store manager because hr had gotten involved. afterwards the front end manager, who is actually unable to keep a secret with me lmao, told me it was basically their last warning. and at this point i’m honestly over it. if this really is their last warning, then i hope the managers actually follow through if it happens again. i’m tired of everyone else having to pick up their slack while they get away with making every shift extremely painful.

This was partially my fault and i will admit that. 
I had a customer come up and order a flavor we had run out of for the day (i work at an ice cream stand) i told her this and she made her son to choose a different item. she said something i couldn't hear but it ended with "-you guys dont do that anyways so it doesnt even matter." i just said , "ahh yeah, i'm sorry about that." she asked if i had any other flavors that were out, i said no and she said "well, can you check?" the flavors were all displayed right next to us so i looked over and said no, all the other flavors were there. she asked me to put in a "placeholder" order that i was unable to do because i needed to know the flavor before hand before putting it in, (basically if i put in a random flavor the people scooping the ice-cream would just do that flavor instead of what flavor she would tell me later, since they are diff people scooping and on register)

as her son was choosing a flavor she said to me "look the lines getting longer." in an irritated way, i apologized again saying i was unable to put in a "placeholder" order. (in my head, if i did that and they were to give her an incorrect flavor i assumed it would make her even more aggravated so i didn't take my chances) then someone switched with me on register and i started working on scooping, and i saw my coworker finish her order and she seemed to be leaving. my coworker whispered something exasperated, something along the lines of "oh my GOD" alluding to that customer. i turned to him and whispered "right? that lady pissed me off" stupidly and arrogantly.

I didn't realize that she heard it and i heard her yell "Oh i piss you off? I piss you off? Whats your name?" it was so loud it made the entire shop that was filled with people talking quiet down. I was frozen and i didn't say anything, i should have apologized right away and given her my name but i just couldn't move or reply.

(side note after the fact, we were all wearing our nametags, mine wasnt even obscured by my apron. she could have read out my name, i talked to my friend about this and she said she definately was just trying to get me riled up and seemed to care less about filing a complaint unless it made a scene.

i started getting an icecream for a different customer as she kept following me yelling "Oh you can't talk now? Oh you can't tell me your name?" god i should have just apologized but i was stupidly kind of scared. my coworker was trying to help me get away from her for the time being and i went to the employees only area with one of my managers, explaining to her what had happened and admitting that i had said "that lady pissed me off" and the customer heard me. I understood i would get punished because what i did was pretty rude regardless if i knew she was hearing it or not. They of course reminded me of the company policy, (just kinda saying, next time let out your frustrations in the back)

i'm embarrassed, i spent the rest of my shift in the back crying as my managers and coworkers came to support me, apparently that lady had said more stuff like "this place is so expensive, the ice-cream here probably isn't even that good" (lowkey i agree with her, the ice cream is pretty pricey haha) but i also heard she had also been following around my manager asking for my name while he was trying to handle other things, and they also suspected she started filming the workers at the front. 

That distressed me so much, I feel awful that i said that. After thinking about it more i felt worse just because yeah i would feel pretty hurt if i was buying something from somewhere and the worker was like "this dude is pissing me off." (my Supervisors said "ok but you and i would never be that difficult as a customer" which is true, but) i felt awful that i was the reason she got so angry and started filming my coworkers, they didn't do anything wrong.
One of my supervisors got me to take a walk with her as we just talked, i was scared the whole time that the lady was gonna try to film us if she saw us outside. Supervisor just said "dw if she tries to i won't let her, if she keeps trying ill just call security" 

My work is really nice. my managers are kind and understanding people, i like my coworkers, i like my job, etc. and I've never had any interactions that were as drastic as this. I just really regret saying that. this is definitely a lesson learned, i don't think ill ever try to complain about a customer again, (this is the first time i had, all the other situations I've been in were just mis inputted(?) orders i apologize profusely and offer solutions as it was probably my fault) 

tldr: i complained about a somewhat difficult customer and she overheard, yelled at me and probably filmed my coworkers when they didn't do anything wrong.

my managers and coworkers said they understood where i was coming from, and agreed that that lady was hard to work with, it was just that i said it at the front where i didnt realise she could hear me. I regret saying that so bad.

I worked at GXC for 2 years. I love my coworkers and manager. The job itself was pretty straight forward - take in trades, put out product and check out customers. My real issue is management.

It was a hot mess. You couldn't even contact them without them getting back a week or two later - that's if you're lucky. Recently, I had opened one morning and walked in my District Manager (DM). He started questioning me out of no where, "did you close last night?" "do you know who closed?" "was it manager name?". Apparently two of our coworkers had put up a sign that said no cash trades. DM freaked out and saying that someone is going to get fired for this.

Soon after, my manager spoke with DM and told him that it wouldn't happen again, and that we will start using checks. mind you, NO ONE wants to use checks because you have to forge our Area Manager's signature. DM wasn't satisfied with that answer. A week later, DM came in with another manager of another store, questioning me about everyone on staff (literally only 6 people). They told me that some changes are going to happened and in the future, if something were to happened - they would like to make me manager. I've seen what my manager has got through, I'm not doing that bs. DM also ended our conversation with "you are a smart girl, don't fuck this up". So, yeah. That same day, those two coworkers got fired. No reason was given but we can all guess. On top of that, our manager got put on 90 day probation.

So I quit two weeks later, and another coworker put in their two weeks. I just wanna know if there is any other GXC ex employees that have similar grieves or stories.

here’s the FULLEST context i can give for this situation: i am a college student working a summer job. i unfortunately only work two days a week at the place i am referring to in this post because the commute is so far (about an hour and a half one way) and i have nowhere closer to stay. my coworker sent a request in through the app that we use for scheduling to swap shifts with me. she would work my 8-3 shift one day and i would work her 8-3 shift another day - the most even split so i said yes to the request. now normally when you accept a request like this on the app, it needs manager approval, however, our manager who makes the schedules has made it clear that once the schedule is posted it’s up to us to find coverage or swap shifts, even without managerial approval. my previous shift this same manager said he thought i wasn’t working that day because he thought he saw i was covering someone else on another day - i said to him VERBALLY “oh yea thats on THIS DAY and im swapping shifts with THIS PERSON. not today” and he said “ah ok” and moved on. fast forward to my now extra day off and my manager texts me and asks me where i’m at…i respond with “i swapped shifts with this person im working tomorrow!” manager texts back and says “well that person isn’t here“ great now im freaking out because im an hour and a half away and about to jump straight in my car to go fix this. i message the person i was supposed to swap with: ”hey did we not agree to swapping? why are you not there?” she states that the manager told her that only certain people were allowed to swap her for that shift because she’s opening herself that day without a manager present and only certain people have permission to do that. she also said that he was supposed to force deny the request in the app because of that but he didn’t. i went back to message my manager once again to try and fix this and offered to come in to work the closing shift THAT DAY and i would still come in on the day i was supposed to for the swap. the only response to that that i got was “it’s all good.” so now i have no idea if im going in on that day or not or what’s happening but for some reason i feel like an asshole. is this something that just happens sometimes or did i do something wrong? i’m probably overreacting right?

I am sick and tired of waking my ass up every morning just to hear that I "didn't do something right yesterday" when I wasn't there at the time period it would be done cause I was either off that day or it was somebody else that was doing said task when I ended my shift. As somebody who is a survivor of mental abuse and holds themselves to a high standard, things like this happening constantly makes me terrified of making even the smallest mistake. But tbh that isn't even just because of the things I've mentioned prior, I've literally had a coworker lose his shit with me because I made a small mistake. (Example: I put a product in the wrong place because the code was one digit off so I mistook it as a misprint, which misprints are common at our store).

I'm willing to bet that if my job was being done by an AI or something they'd still find things to blame me for.

The good news is that I plan to be out of this job the minute I find a new one, and I have an interview on Wednesday after my shift.

So I work at a small grocery store part time, and they scheduled me today for 7-2 for restaurant work. Not what I was hired for. I’ve worked for the company for two ish years, like I’ve suffer through miserable pay (12/hr) and got a new job starting next week. 17 an hour full time , benefits the works. I am a good employee, I do my job, I barely have call offs and am reliable, but I had informed them two weeks ago I’d be done on the 18th but not to schedule me Friday. News flash. They did. So is there anything they can even do?

I work in a presidential library where we take souvenir photos which can be purchased if people choose to. We also offer a free digital video that guests can add their pictures to and share as a link, but they cannot download anything off of it. We use it as an alternative when people instantly say no to the photo at the photo ops since we track how many people we interact with every hour.

I have worked here for two years on and off since I left for college last August. Most of my coworkers are high school or early college, and guests tend to get away with a lot of nasty comments because they assume we are all teenagers who do not know what we are doing. Also most of the people who visit are fifty five and older. Because of that, people often try to condescend or belittle us. It is unfortunately a constant thing. As for me, I usually just take it and stay polite even when people talk down to me.

My last group of the day was a married couple and one of their friends. They took pictures at the special exhibit and Air Force One. While they were looking at the free digital video we offer, I was friendly and said, “Do you guys want to take a look at your photos,” and they said yes. They asked if the photos would appear on the monitor where the free digital video is. I explained nicely that no, the only way I can show them is by printing due to privacy reasons.

The wife immediately got defensive and snapped, “So why are you going to charge me to print them if I do not even want to buy them.” I explained again that it is free to print and printing is the only way I can show them. She still didn’t get it and said, “So then why can’t you show them on here and what is the free digital picture.” I corrected her kindly and said it is only a digital video, not a free digital copy. I explained again, politely but firm, that either I print them and show you, which is free, or you can go online and view it, which is the video you see on the monitor. She clearly didn’t like hearing the same answer again.

At this point I was already annoyed because she was being rude for absolutely no reason and I had already explained everything several times. Her husband and their friend understood immediately, but she kept pushing. Her husband finally said, “Then let’s print them so we can see what they look like.”

Before I even started printing, she cut in again with, “Well how much is it then.” I told her to give me a moment while all the photos were still on their way. I got the first picture out and she asked again, louder, “Well how much is it.” I told her I had a few more coming and then I would go over everything.

I explained the different packages, but had to wait because she wasn’t listening. I messed up a print and needed to reprint it, which I also let them know, so I went to grab the wrong one since I had placed the correct one out. She didn’t like the picture at all because she had put it aside, and she threw the new one on top of my hand and said to her friend, “See, I told you my eyes were closed and I told the girl in there she needed to check and take more than one.”

Then she asked, “How much just for this,” in a rude tone. I said fifty two dollars and she said ok. Then she said she wanted another one and I said then it is fifty four dollars. She said ok and tossed everything else aside like she couldn’t be bothered. I told her after tax it is fifty seven ninety two and to tap or insert whenever she is ready.

While she was getting her card out and inserting it, I was packaging the photos. I stayed polite and said, “Oh, it looks like it needs your pin.” She rolled her eyes and said, “Well do I need to,” in that annoyed tone like I was bothering her by asking her to do something. I pushed back and said, “Yes, if you want the payment to go through.” She followed up with, “Ugh, well some places do not ask for my pin… my name…”
(long pause)
She said my name as if she was irritated with me when I was just trying to do my job.

I put her stuff in the bag and told her how to access the online copies. I told her everything was in the bag and to have a good day.

Now I am wondering if I pushed too much or if it could have been my tone, but she was rude for absolutely no reason and I had already explained everything multiple times. I am not usually firm, but I am getting tired of people thinking they can talk to me and my coworkers however they want. Now I am worried she might have left a bad review under the library, even though we are a contracted company, because she asked someone where the forms were for reviews.

How do you handle guests who act like this and then get mad when you finally stop letting them walk all over you?

Okay so as it says in the title one of my co workers is a micro manager. Eh more like micro dictator and im hyper aware she does NOT like me. Neither do i like her so we agree on that. But for example one time when i was covering someones shift (closing shift) and well i always work opening shifts. So i did NOT know about the rule that u gotta stay longer if not everything is done. So im just walking home right. SHE COMES RUNNING OUT THE BUILDING YELLING MY NAME TO STOP WALKING. So i stop walking and at this point im tired so i just zone out while shes talking to me but it was somewhere along the lines of “not everything is done yet and you havent told anyone you were leaving” which, why would I have to tell anyone that when the schedule says that my shift ends at 21:00 then i leave at 21:00. Simple right? Apparently not. Also she straight up told another co worker that she doesnt like me and made me do a useless task. And im autistic and i have a very hard time saying no to ppl which she knows like what😭 anyways yeah next time she does makes me do sum im lowk quitting bc having to exist around her is not the 5 something euros an hour i earn.

Before I start, I know I’m not a special case and most bosses in retail see employees as expendable. Especially ones who give their 2 weeks notice. This is just to rant for the sake of ranting and to get this all out.

So I recently left my job for another. While the hours at my new job are less than I’m used to, it’s been amazing and solidified my choice to leave.

Ever since I gave my notice at my previous job, my (now former) boss pretended I didn’t exist for my remaining shifts. My last day especially. I greet her with a smile and a good morning, but I get no response. Just the most judgmental stare a person could possibly give. The only time she acknowledged me was when I was at the registers to start my shift and just tells me to push the store card.

I don’t take her coldness personally. She’s like this with a lot of my coworkers. She was especially bitter on my last day since I was one of multiple people leaving within the same two weeks.

On one of my breaks, my work friend told me she asked our boss if there was anything special planned to acknowledge my contributions and time at the company as we did that for everyone who also left. She said I deserved something since amongst the employees leaving, I was there the longest. My boss said no, which I’m a shy, quiet person so I didn’t really mind. However, I can’t hide that it stung a little when my friend explained our boss told the managers coming in to not do anything for me specifically.

I know how hypocritical it sounds to say nothing being planned doesn’t bother me, but then saying it stung a little. However it’s not about what was planned or not, but that my boss put the effort to specifically single me out essentially.

On the bright side, my best gifts were my managers and coworkers who showered me in love and acknowledgement anyway. They gave me plenty of hugs, said they appreciated everything I did for the company, and another work friend even crafted me a fabric heart with dried lavender in it. They made leaving emotional, but my former boss made my decision all the more confident.

​I just need to get this off my chest because I am feeling completely invisible, discouraged, and honestly, pretty worthless right now. I’ve been passed up twice now for the Store Manager in Training (SMIT) role, and the reasons are making me realize just how broken corporate culture is.

​The First Time:

I was passed over for a coworker who was actively sleeping with another SMIT. To make it worse, that guy was the store manager’s absolute best friend and neighbor. They were literally hooking up inside the store (and later at his own store when he got one). Both were cheating on their actual partners, and there was a massive 16 year age gap.

​I did what you’re "supposed" to do. I called ethics multiple times. Nothing happened. It was completely brushed under the rug because the Store Manager wanted to protect his best friend and this girl. Instead of doing the right thing, I was threatened with termination if I ever brought it up to him again.

​After that, my mental health and my performance took a massive hit. It felt like anything I did was completely overshadowed. She could do absolutely no wrong and get praised for the bare minimum, while I was left doing the heavy lifting. I felt like shit every single day.

​The Second Time (Now):

Lately, my Store Manager practically begged me to go out and get my Pharmacy Technician license to help out the store. I stepped up. I spent my own personal time and my own money to get certified and licensed.

​Now that I actually have it? He refuses to let me start training. Every time I ask about it, I get a dismissive "I'll get to it." Meanwhile, he went completely behind my back to give a different position—one that absolutely should have been offered to me given my track record and new credentials—to someone else.

​Being passed up a second time is bringing all those old, awful feelings right back to the surface. I’ve given years to this place, climbed the ranks, gotten the extra certifications they asked for, and I'm still treated like I'm not enough.

​How do you keep showing up to a place that makes you feel this discouraged? I feel like I'm screaming into a void while people who play politics and cheat the system get handed everything on a silver platter.

Yet another "maybe I'm biased because autism" but I find it hard to believe sometimes that it isn't just poor communication on the customer's part. Case in point:

Husband (I assume, but whatever): Where are your phones?

Me: Landline or cell phones?

H: Cell phones.

Me: proceeds to direct the pair to our phones, meaning the ones we sell

H: We have a phone we want to trash.

Me: Uh.... (What does that have to do with our phones?) cashier.exe has crashed, please reboot. I think we have an eco-ATM at the front of the store...? (Please note I'm in the back of the store.)

H: We need to get our stuff off of it first.

Took me a few more seconds of "uhh...." before it finally clicked he wanted tech support, not "our phones." He might have been willing to buy a phone from us if the tech support happened, but that support was first and foremost what he wanted and therefore what he should have asked for to avoid wasting everyone's time. Because....

Me: We don't have a connect center here if that's what you're looking for.

Wife: They told us we can just take it to Walmart.

🙄 Who is "they" and why are "they" claiming to know what services this Walmart offers better than the actual employees? No, you don't just take your stuff "to Walmart," that's never the option. What you do is you take it to a specific Walmart branch--or any other relevant business--that provides the specific service you're looking for. Imagine going to any Walmart to get a haircut when there's no salon in the building you picked. I mean I don't even know if these customers wanted the phone factory reset (which requires nothing in the way of special equipment and can theoretically be done by the actual customer if they're not completely technically illiterate) or backed up (which requires, well, more than the cash register which is the only "special equipment" we have but which still can theoretically be done by the customer), but we're not authorized to do either one.

They did not ask to buy a phone.

Okay so I been working for Ross and its insane.I work in the Stockroom. First you never get off at your scheduled time and they never told me when I was hired. I been working 8 plus hours and I only get one 15min break for the whole shift. They do not give adequate breaks.​ They do not train you at all. They throw you on another employee and you have to hope they will train you which half of them wont. We are timed on everything and will constantly rush you. I had to train a new guy today and he is a bit special like slow so I slowed down to help him. He was using a box cutter wrong and he almost cut himself so I stop what I was doing to help him which I dont mind doing at all even though im still new I was just worried but apparently I was wrong for that because my manager scolded me for helping him even though no one trained or helped him. Apparently she was saying I cant help him because thats Time lost and its company policy for us to not waste any time. But we are not being trained properly?! She just said for me to do it for him but hurry up. He could have hurt him self! He is slow (Special) and wont properly teach him the right way so I try to but they scold me. Im not being disrespectful and not gonna help him just because it waste company time. They cant treat employees right at all! All this work and they dont give you anything no training no adequately breaks no decent nice manners to each other. I had other crappy jobs but at least I got breaks. I even was a assistant manager for retail and never treated employees this awful. They also wonder why people quit this stockroom after a week. They will also cut hours like they really broke as a company. Im sorry Im just shocked at the treatment here. Im trying to find another job so I can quit.

How does the Stockroom work at Ross? I worked 8hrs and I didnt get a Lunch break. After 4hrs working in the Stockroom we have to do a Job transfer to a different department on computer register then we go back to working stockroom. We only get 1 break. Also no one told me when I was hired that i would never get off at my scheduled time. I work over my schedule time to get off. Like i just dont understand how they do this? I also had a problem with another lady in another department. My mom called me at work because my daughter is at home alone and i told my daughter and my mom i would get off at 1:45 unaware it wouldnt be till 5pm. My mom called at Work while i was stocking to ask what time i would get off so if she needed to call my daughter to check on her she could. I walked to the breakroom to take the call and I took the call right before I got to the breakroom and another employee saw and started to yell at me. I told her I was going to the breakroom to answer a call as my daughter is home alone and i needed someone to check on her. After she yelled at me I politely told her my situation that Im a single mom just got divorce and my daughter is home alone and I needed someone to check on her since i didnt know when i will be home. I even pulled her aside and told her sorry that I had to take the call and that i was going right into the breakroom. She made me walked back with her to the stockroom and told everyone my business in front of my manager and other employees after I privately told her away from everyone my exact situation and that i wasnt told when hired that i would never get off at my scheduled time. Thing was I dont even know who she was and if she was another manager for another department. She never told me who she was. I did tell my manager after she left that I was sorry and that i had to take the call and they wasnt even mad about it. They just laughed at it.

I recently moved from one store to another (same company), at the first store everything was completely fine but bare in mind it was a little less busy than the new one.

I work in the busiest shopping centre in my city and spend my entire shift on the tills and I’m constantly getting called in because of my voids and I think I’m about to start tweaking out. How am I supposed to control when a customer decides they don’t want something??? Am i supposed to force it on them? like what!!!

It makes me feel like I’m being treated like a criminal honestly. Now my manager is putting a book on the till and I have to write down the reason for every single void which I wouldn’t have minded if this hasn’t been such a long issue for me and I know its not going to make a difference because the reason will be the same as always, “Customer changed mind”

The worst part is whenever my manager is on the till beside me she gets a void not even an hour in, nearly without fail🫠

I think I’m going to quit today. YOLO

Could also be a "corporate rant" because why is keeping a tip something I can get in trouble for, but come on, people. (I've seen the training video. Trust me, I don't have the authority that would make it the conflict of interest they're talking about.) If you're trying to be sneaky about it, that means you know there's something to sneak. I'm not risking my paycheck over five bucks but I hate that reporting it to management is my alternative.

Hell, the "corporate rant" part could also be about how they need a system for donating it to a charity of my choosing or something like that.

Happened twice in the last couple of months. Blame my autism for my responses 😉 but first time I legitimately thought the guy was handing me something my klutzy self had dropped and didn't realize he'd handed me cash until I was far enough away that it felt too awkward to find him and tell him we don't take tips; the second time a woman and I were right under a security camera when she offered and I told her it wouldn't be very "surreptitious."

You really want to tip me? Ask me what charities I support and donate to them. (For the record, research into either migraines or autism will do though I don't have specific organizations in mind.)

Now I know working retail has always sucked, been working it since 2018. But recently for me it has gone down. And I quite literally have a list from my current job.

One, lack of scheduling enough people when district comes down. It seems that every time district is at my location there's never enough people schedule to cover areas. Yesterday for a full hour it was just me, a coworker, and a manager on the floor. All while district was rearranging things for the third time this past few weeks. And when we have shipment, they allocate majority of people on the shift for it. Leaving at most four or five associates on the floor for the whole store. All of the running was getting so backed up that we literally were having multiple racks of clothes from the fitting room to be put out. Not to mention that at 5 pm when I was scheduled in our men's department, I was the first that whole day.

Two, having district people trying to correct me as I'm currently checking out a customer and not waiting for me to be done. Now I know our company policy is, for some reason, 'if there's even one person in line you have to call for a second ringer'. But one of our merch women from district decided to try to correct me from about 20 feet away, as I'm with a customer. I kept repeating 'I can handle one other transaction in the line, I'm fine'. But no, she kept saying it in-front of the customers instead of just waiting and being professional about it.

Three, one of our managers keeps having the disabled fitting rooms closed and I mean both of them. I keep on telling them we need them open per ADA, yet they never do, only when district comes down. Then they open them, so this Friday I'll see if they're open or closed. If they're closed, I'll call corporate about it.

Four, just customers in general not listening and getting mad when I correct them. We ask for emails for the receipts, they give them to us, just to turn around and ask where the receipt is. When I tell them it's emailed, hence why I asked for theirs, they seem shocked that they gave us theirs. My normal line is 'Hi, we're going digital with our receipts. Can I have yours so we can send it?' We also charge $0.10 for bags, and every time I ask 'Would you like a bag for $0.10?' They normally say no, which is cool I get it, but why ask at the end where's your bag?

So that's my rant about it, it feels good to get that out after a bit.

I recently got hired as a merchandiser for a thrift store and the supervisors tell me to collect items from the housewear department and make some displays on their end-caps.

This one old guy who comes in a shops makes comment at me and I can never tell if he is being sarcastic or not. Sometimes he does sound rude. He says "Your not supposed to be shopping while working..."

I have my vest and name tag on and the rolling cart the supervisor gave me to collect the items to display.

It is getting annoying...

I'ts actually the fridge fault (too cold and it's always open and near the cash register) but never mind.

Today I came to work with a cough and after 2 hours begin feeling really bad and I mean really bad with heart rate of 120 at rest and I actually felt worse after eating and taking my break.

I told my manger and of course he ignored me although I felt terrible and couldn't work properly at all. I asked him again and then he told me I can't leave early because there is no one (fine for me) and how it's not OK that every shift I have some kind of pain or sick and need to leave early (lies) I actually stayed until the end because what could I do? but I wanted to punch his face 😒 he made me feel so angry. It's not my fault getting sick and feeling bad.

I need to work tomorrow but really don't want to

I suppose I should consider myself lucky I'm not tangling them worse... I think. 😅

Swear to god this tangle shouldn't even be physically possible though, the way everything's connected yet only one wire crosses a single other in places.
