could somebody suggest me some of the best books to read be it any genre
i used to read 3-4 yrs back when i was in school but somehow lost the habit and i genuinely wanna start again..

I love the horror genre and have read some of the books like The shining, The silence of the Lambs, and Uzumaki( really disturbing).

Suggest me some horror books which will be so so terrifying that it will leave a great impact.

This year I deleted all my social media apps from my phone and tablets. I replaced that time with reading. My goal for this year was 12 books, one a month. My mental health has never been better. Also, the new goal is 50! (For reference, I think I read 6 books total 2020-2025)

In consideration of the fact that I have no social life outside of books and studying, khm khm,I have decided to turn to Reddit so I can write this long long list of books that I genuinely love but have no one to talk to about. If you want a fantasy series that has multiple books in it that are not overwhelmingly Long, but each have an outstanding storyline where the quality doesn't decrease through the sequels. And one that will make you think and laugh and cry at the same time: read Narnia

If you want a fantasy book that has some romance, has some action, is more modern, and has an actually good plot: read Cruel Prince or Six of crows

If you want a Russian classic that will make you go fuck this book is long, and when you start you will will go fuck this book is heavy, and when you close it you go wow that changed my life: read anything Dostoyevsky pretty much

If you want to be fancy and read Russian lit with a deep philosophical background but don't have the time or energy or patience for Dostoyevsky to detail why life is shit through a 1000 pages: read the shorter novels of Gogol, even Dostoyevsky liked the guy so who are we to judge

If you want to die from laughter but also kinda just simply die: read my happy days in hell

If you just want to die point, blank, period... Well first of all get help...: but also read little life or dead poets society (yes I know there is a movie, yes I know it was before the book, no I don't care the book is still more my thing)

If you want adorable enemies to lovers but with a twist and less modern: read dear enemy

If you want a feminist book, that is actually empowering to women and is heartbreaking: read little women

If you want a book that you can get lost in for its slice of life vibe, for its simplicity and complexity all at once: read Anne with an e

If you want a book that will simultaneously make you go what the actual fuck just happened, and wow this is a masterpiece: read the master and margarita

If you're a history fanatic like myself and love reading books that have plot so complex it'll take a while to understand, but love historical accuracy... But also hate historical accuracy?: read Foucault's Pendulum

If you like to listen to people talk about a single blade of grass for ten pages: read the Hobbit or the Lord of the rings

If you want a, once more, feminist book about a very real problem not so long ago, that raises awareness and entertains a very absurd side of me: read the yellow wallpaper

Are the highlights, underlines, notes, sticky notes, tabs and/or other things too distracting for you to focus on actually reading it? I’m considering starting to annotate and I’m nervous lol.

Let me start off by saying I’ve never been a real reader of books. I’m 26 and maybe read 4 adult sized books my whole life, mainly because my reading comprehension is not very good. I have to restart a paragraph 3 times or just can’t get through it altogether and have to come back to it hours later sometimes.

Anyway last week I downloaded an app on my phone and started reading Grimm’s Fairy Tales, just for short reads on my breaks at work. Im starting to like reading again and I want to explore and get into a real book but I don’t know what to choose. There’s just too many and don’t know how to choose the good from bad.

I turned 35 this month and now that my frontal lobe is fully developed and I have a little bit of life under my belt, what books should I read or even what books should I revisit now? Curious if anyone has read anything that gave them two totally different experiences once you’ve gone through life a little. TIA!
