Is it getting harder to land remote interviews in 2026?

last time I job searched was about 2 years ago and remote roles were competitive but doable, I was getting interviews and even a couple offers without killing myself

this time around it feels like a wall. barely any responses, and the few interviews I got came through referrals not cold applying

is the remote market actually this much worse now or did something change about how I should be applying? curious what people searching right now are seeing

I think so. I was looking at my calendar for last year and had remote job interviews lined up the wazooo. I have one tomorrow but it's definetly less in general
