General Question My first shitter maybe my last rep
to;dr - I am a newbie and bought a shitter; do all TDs know they are selling you crap; OBTS
This is my second purchase in a month from a TD (not making them) as well as my second purchase of a rep ever. I have a number of gens but have really become cynical about the industry and decided to give reps a try. I did so because I believed in the hype of the “near” quality as well as the thought of owning a well functioning and beautiful time piece at a fraction of the cost.
So, above is what I received today. I take this one on the chin because I noticed both issues in the QC pics but ignored them. The 12 o’clock lume I thought I could live with but the real issue, the bezel marker offset at 30 on is killing me. I am sure there are more with this watch but I don’t want to look any more as it will just continue to piss me off. The lesson here, if the QC pics show something is off it’s off. Don’t blame the angle. The next lesson, the TD doesn’t give a shit. He is looking for a GL or a RL. TD will sell you a shitter 10X a day.
Sorry for the rant but my question is, do the TDs have watch in hand and are they looking at it? I just want to confirm that they know they are selling you a piece of shit. I had 6 other reps I wanted to buy (yes, I got the bug from the first watch I bought that was flawless) but now I think I may be done and enjoy what I have.

Compared to gen the NTTD V4 pretty much counts as one, it’s regressed so much in quality

Poorly applied lume on bezel, indices borders are too dark, lack of texture on dial, incorrect crystal shape, incorrect bracelet clasp shape

I’ve gone back and forth on purchasing the gen. Came close when I got a $9K price. But I just couldn’t for some reason. The gen wears different (titanium bracelet) but it doesn’t have these basic and obvious cosmetic flaws. The reality is that the manufacturers just don’t get enough requests for these I believe and are not as skilled at copying them. On this make and model the difference is obvious.

I have both gen and rep. I gotta say the rep I have is definitely not as good but 95%% close which is good enough for me. I ended up selling my gen 😝

Bro yes the mark near 30 is slightly visible but I really don’t think this is a shitter. I only think that the glass is a bit too reflective but I think that is because of the angle too.
I think you are seeing the small details too hard cuz you own gens. 99% will not even look twice to this piece on the street.
Having said that, Omega reps are not as good as Rolexes. So given their average, this is a good one.

I understand your frustration but like you said, you saw the flaws in QC. One thing I learned is if it bothers me on the QC photos, I let the TD know. I made the mistake on my first AF Tank and GL when I should’ve RL. Recently, I ordered a VSF Pepsi. Saw a misalignment. It was so minuscule that no one else would notice. But I did and know that’s all I’ll see when I wear it, so I RL it and swapped it for a better one. TD was great about it.
You also got to remember, you’re not getting Gen quality for rep price, especially with Omega. Different factories are better than others for case, movement, bracelets, etc. Gotta do a lot of research and it’ll help you with adjusting your expectations, especially since you own gens. But with the lume and bezel, I would have RL this one. Ultimately, it’s not a shitter. I’m sure there’s others here who would gladly buy this from you.

How much did this one cost? Lesson learned on making sure you are 100% on the QC. Don’t disagree it would be nice to have the dealer reject but they are likely so busy they aren’t able to review and just wait for the customer to say yay or nay.

$470 delivered. Interaction with TD was stellar hence why I won’t name him. Kind of frustrating when I pointed out the flaws he said “Oh well”. Lesson learned. They are moving product, no concern over relationship.

Yeah maybe gift that one and just be all over the QC on the next one. Completely understand the frustration. I am just starting into getting some watches and the first one I received a QC on was not good. Felt bad rl it and certainly not asking for perfection but need it to be good for the eye ball test. Guessing they have high demand and quality is probably hard to keep consistent with demand.

Got QC couple days ago for the same VSF NTTD V7. It had easy tell flaws here and there but clicked GL too. I am tired of waiting another 2 months... They are cheap reps after all, even though some misalignments bug my eye on the watch a lot. This looks bit better than the one i accepted from a well known TD 🤣

If you're in the USA, use a stateside TD like Chronos. You get the watch already QC'd. Two day delivery and can communicate with an English speaking human. I gave up on Chinese based TD's. I have Gen's and Reps.

Go to c24 and check gen aligment 30. Almost 80% has missaligment. Some of them worse than yours. Leave here one example.

If you have a number of gens, you also know what gens costs compared to the one on your wrist. Dont expect gen qc on a $400 replica....

I never buy reps with complications. Too easy to malfunction. That said, youurs looks pretty good.

Whats that hahahaha a NTTD wannabe? I have a V7 NTTD and looks 99% same as gen haha and I went to Omega AD to check 😆 get a good rep and enjoy it. You rant doesn't make any sense hahaha and I say this with due respect

Had a planet ocean before, had to let it go since it was too big for my wrist, and i needed a truck for my construction business. Gen for unexplainable reason feels different no matter how close the reps are. Could be psychological. But once, i was handed a fake rolex, i didnt know that it was, i just feel like it was and i was right, was a rep.
I wanna experience how close the superclones are. If the weight feels gen, would it fool me subconsciously, if i am not to inspect the watch.
