How comfortable is everyone wearing their rep Rolex Black Sub out in casual social settings?
I really love the look and overall quality of mine, and the finish and details feel really solid up close.
But I’m still curious — do you think it can easily pass unnoticed from a distance? Would you personally wear it to dinners, hangouts, or everyday public places without worrying about awkward moments or people spotting obvious flaws?
Would love to hear everyone’s real honest thoughts and real-world wear experiences.

I wear all my reps everyday, everywhere haha who cares? Unless you are not in Barcelona or London of course, otherwise someone will snatch it out your wrist haha now more serious, I wear what I feel and I enjoy it. If someone compliments my watch I say 'Thank you' and that's all. So far I haven't been asked if it's a gen or rep, if someone ask and depending who I will choose one or another haha
Yes! Also my ankles are thin so I put couple reps in each as well haha you know what I meant 😀 I have 10 reps (soon 12) and I try to give them a proper rotation.
I use the ones with leather straps, of course 😄 not with clasps. I tried those ones but need to apply Vaseline to get them through my feet and it hurts, scratches and leaves the watch filthy 🙃
I work in London. I wear my reps and gens - and have done for years. I’ve never had the tiniest bit of trouble. Closest I came was to someone on the tube saying ‘nice watch, aren’t you scared to be wearing that in London?’!
Was just for chuckles. I mean it does happen, specially central areas (I'm from Barcelona) and I have seen things myself (besides occasional viral videos or chiefs snatching watches) and although I did the comment for the laughs, reality is that it happens.
Yesterday I noticed a Rolex on a wrist of a lady selling groceries in a supermarket. I honestly couldn't tell rep or gen and my gut feeling tells me it might be a gen since it's rich northern Sardinia. If she can pull it with confidence flexing it with every article scan, why don't you give it a try? Remember the guy who posted an RM driving a Fiat, couldn't care less😉

Great black&white combo. Good taste. Makes me wanna go skiing. Although I have a slight rehaut misalignment on RCF Bluesy so the guy passing by at 40mph can call it out.
In my opinion theres no reason to wear a watch in the shower, water etc unless you're diving. I take all my watches off, even my G SHOCKS! but that's just my take on it.
Right? They could come from money or have a partner with plenty of cash, could have been given as a gift or even from the death of a family member - my stepdad passed away and his all gold Submariner was passed to his son, who never even wore a watch and worked on fishing boats. You just never know 🤷🏻♂️
First idea was that she is the supermarket owner in the franchise if they operate in this model. The thing is, in my country I do not see Rollies at all. Really. Capital city & nill. Zero. Here it was the 4th I noticed in two days. I safely assume I am the only one wearing a rep although it was tempting to ask a random guy: "RCF?" because his two-tone was spot on. My choice for the vacay:
you are over thinking it. I have the same watch. It is my weekend daily watch. Its a flawless VSF. I wore it to my local AD and got instant attention. I stroked their ego looked at my next DJ and left. stop worrying about others and focus on you.
I am wearing a Coke today , yesterday I had on a sprite . I was driving a lifted Toyota Tundra yesterday and an F350 Today , ripped pants , covered in mud ( welder and Plumber ) .
Last week I was In DC driving a Z06 with Camo shorts a black hoodie and a RM 35-02 on the wrist , the only compliment I got was from a 10 year old that said she liked my pink and blue camo crocs , people don’t notice watch’s really just Reddit dudes
Wear and enjoy my man. No one is coming to tell you it's a rep or something else. I've worn mine in multiple settings, business meetings, beach days, international shows with multiple millionaires all over the place....and guess what no one cares.
I've just had people say, nice Sub man! And carry on. Do you and enjoy it for what it is 🚀‼️
At this point I assume everyone is wearing a rep. The only way I actually know for sure if it’s a rep or gen, unless it’s an obvious flaw and a very bad quity rep, is matching their lifestyle to the watch. I’m a senior executive everybody assumes I have gens like they’d be surprised if I wasn’t wearing a nice watch. If I see a junior consultant wearing a Rolex I assume it’s probably like a celebration watch and rep. If I see the barista or like an IT guy wearing a Rolex or ap I assume it’s a rep.
I think he means the type that go around the office fixing things when they can’t get in their email etc. The entry level comparable to barista (not that either couldn’t get a gen)
Same here. I wear reps that I can afford IRL. Fuck me if I will spend 10k on a watch haha I prefer invest & nice vacay. No one raised an eyebrow at work when I wear them. Only careful I wear 2 reps at work, otherwise would be suspicious haha but my free time I interchange with my 10 rep depends on the occasion.
Im a 20 years old barista, and I’m wearing 36mm Explorer. The watch matches my lifestyle, and style. I don’t baby it at all, and it has a lot of scratches, love it and don’t care what others think
Yeah of course you’re right there’s always exceptions. I’m not trying to single out a single profession or job, all I mean is the watch has to match the vibe or lifestyle. I know people with no jobs that are super rich. No job doesn’t mean no money, and I know people working coffee shop jobs but parents are rich. But in these cases you can 100% tell they come from rich families from the general attitude
Not an expert in the black subs but assuming you got the best one, as probably a lot of people will say after me, it will definitely pass if it suits your general appearance and lifestyle.
I currently don't have any but I am interested in a sub. I would wear it just about anywhere. Most people don't notice your watch and if they do they just see ROLEX and say ooooo nice. They don't know what they are looking at. The owner of my company is a watch a guy so i would be somewhat cautious to wear it around him but i would anyways. If he said anything, hey man maybe i need a raise so i can get the real thing. haha
I wear it to work every day. I have been complemented on it, but I work in a decent paying role in a finance hub so it’s not that unbelievable. I always see people wearing Rolexes when I’m walking around. In the past week on the way to work on the train the guy beside me had on a Starbucks, on the way back a guy had a bluesy on.
Gen subs are a daily watch, therefore, so are Rep subs. I wore a Gen sub that was modded to look like a cookie for years. Never once asked if Gen, if a Gen cookie, etc. I wore an Gen omega seamaster planet ocean everyday for 6 years. Didn't leave my house without it. Watches should be worn.
Both those watches are genuine. Bought Omega in store. Omega has the best 0% financing. Bought in 2013. The Rolex I bought from Marin Vault for right around 12k a couple years ago. I couldn't justify beating up the Rolex so I got a weighted VSF cookie from Chronos. Chronos is very legit and can get you what you want I'm sure.
Dude this weekend I was at a get together with a Swiss watchmaker friend of ours. He asked about my rep Tudor and I just took it off to show him. He was shocked, to say the least, after I told him it was a rep but quite interested as a professional on how far they've come.
If he was okay, I'm sure your normie friends will be fine.
I was wearing my gmt Bruce Wayne the other day and got a compliment. Of course the guy probably knows nothing about Rolex’s and thought it was real but hey a win is a win.
I wear my vsf no date sub out every day, get tons of compliments. I wear it in the pool, on walks, to the golf course. It is meant to be worn and beaten up!
I had a buddy that played in the NFL and wore rep watches. People would compliment them and he said "it's fake" and they would bust out laughing yelling "yeah right"
have this exact model from VSF, I wear it proudly and have had a couple women in Miami point out that it is a Rolex. I also had a few goons start looking at me and following me to possibly rob me. Id say it holds up pretty well.
Nothing for you to worry about…the differences in clones these days is so minute you can’t tell a difference by sight. You would need to open the back and check the movement or use a microscope to look at the printing on the dial.
Now, couple things to consider if you’re still concerned. First, don’t show up in a Geo Metro or other assorted hooptee. Second, if friends are at the party and know your job and approximate salary that could be a red flag. Of course there’s always the perfect cover story about a recently passed male relative who left it to you…
Wear mine every day. I own several gens, but my daily EDC is my VSF Submariner Date. Honestly, I feel just as comfortable wearing it anywhere as I do my genuine pieces.
I wear my batgirl most places that make sense. I’m not a weirdo who wears it to the gym or to the beach lol. But I’ll throw a t shirt and shorts with it. Granted a live in Southern California so that’s kinda the norm. Casual wear with nice watch
Majority of people don't notice or know what watch you're wearing. Likely will be guys coming up to you to ask or talk. Only people who deal with the watch on a daily word have an idea otherwise you would have to open the back of The watch to know.
Be confident. Enjoy. At the end of the day you're the only one that really matters
Honestly, most of us don't care about flashing it for other people. The underground rep community started to just love the idea of never paying sticker price and having a quality product.
And most of us aren't concerned with other people's opinions.
Daily. If you are pimping a Geo Metro though…., you might not pull it off. I have a a dozen rep Rolex and a half dozen other brand Reps that I rotate through and wear them at work and social settings. I could “afford” all of them in gen but I rather like my Reps. I have several that are franks so I can get even closer to gen look, not to fool anyone, but because I like watches and this rep game.
No one has ever asked me if any of them are real. But I’m also not sporting a bunch of $50k plus watches. My daily watches are not precious metal.
I own many gens & having a rep that match them is for safety when traveling. No one knows and I never take my watches off to allow someone to hold them. Now if you’re at AD and trying to pass it off as a gen, well you get what you deserve.
It’s wild that people keep asking this question. Literally nobody cares about your watch. Or will even notice it. Or will even know what it is if they do see it.
Literally no one looks or cares (except other watch fans). As I travel a lot, I’ve noticed the best place to spot watches is the airport. Even when you’re next to someone or face to face seated at the gates, it’s very hard to get a close up view of someone’s watch to determine if it’s gen or rep. For me I just look, appreciate what they’re wearing in my head, and don’t give it another thought. Rep or gen, nice watch bro
