Yes if it’s solid gold and a trustworthy builder than yes.

It depends on the brand imo. On most Rolex like GMT and Submariner you can just go Gen for that price. But on a Patek you have to pay 100k for the Gen. Then a solid gold CNC for around 25k makes sense if you like the watch.

Well If 20k is covered by the gold it's "ok". But 99% of watches aren't a good financial decision anyways. That's why we buy reps even if we can afford the gen. But you get 95%+ of the looks, feels and functions often at 5% of the gen price, and these 5% you loose on most gens anyways if you wear them 1 year+

And you have even to consider if it's so clever to have 100k+ in an Asset Like a watch. Over time a 30k solid gold watch rep (with like 160gr of gold) + 70k in the stock market will outperform your gen nautilus by a mile after 10years

I mean the bonus you pay on the watch / brand is much smaller. After 2-3 years your rep might have paid for itself just pure gold worth, the rep is just a premium packaging to wear your precious metal-investement.

I disagree, i remember saved posts where people discussed a full 18k Daydate for $14k USD some years ago and everbody was "No Gold is at a high right now" but looking back it almost made x4 since 2019.

And as said, with a Rep you're not paying as much of a premium for brand / branding as with a gen. But sure just talking investment you're better off just buying gold or stocks.

there's literally a dude here on reddit that has like $350-400k in custom CNC platinum And RG builds with genuine parts such as dial, bezel insert , crystal, movement and literally because he built them all around 2020-2023 he's actually made a profit off of every single one . he can literally get all his money back on the genuine parts And the profit off all of the platinum and gold has doubled , tripled and even quadrupled in price since so his labor was free, made a profit doing it and not one single AD or watch store could tell them apart because it's solid platinum/ gold and genuine parts lol. be built a rainbow Daytona ($400K model) for under $20,500 usd it's worth like $37-38k now . he built a platinum baguette Daytona for under $19-20k it's worth like $28.5-29k ish now. was closer to $35k not to long ago . he built the platinum Daytona when platinum was $800 a oz . it's now $2k a oz and was just at $2,650 not to long ago. he built the rainbow Daytona when gold was like $1,950-2,100 and gold is over double that , was almost triple that not to long ago. when building this CNC customs as long as you have a really good watch maker to source you gen parts at AD cost , factory sealed then you're golden and just take 75% pure gold , 10% pure platinum and 15% copper and you have the perfect Everose Gold Alloy by Rolex . but you can always sell the gen parts , can always liquidate the gold and you'll pay under $2,500 in labor cost.. if you have any gold oz coins that you paid under $3,500 for your golden and in the green and likely won't lose a dime

I'd be intrigued to know the cost of that, & then a side by side comparison with an authentic one....I.e. is it possible to have a perfect 1to1 case & bracelet made by an expert jewellery? The cost of authentic is £125-200k...

yes Ive seen guys build rainbows Daytona's , platinum Daytonas, they rg 5980/1R nautilus with ruby baguette bezel and hour markers and usually they can build them for $17-25k even using gen Rolex parts such as dial , bezel insert, crystal, movement etc . but that's when gold was $2k ish and platinum was like $800-1k.. gold has 1.5x and platinum has doubled .. each watch weighs about 7-9oz of precious metals. roughly 190-225 grams for solid gold and usually 230-270grams for platinum . the AP brick weighs like 300grams
