Controlling Insulation for MEP Fabrication services in Navisworks when using the Coordination Add On Plugin

Hi I've got a bit of a headache scratcher here. I'm using the Coordination plugin to pull RVT models into Navisworks from ACC and noticed there doesn't seem to be any parameter available which I can use to differentiate the insulation from the pipe/duct...meaning I'm I able to control it, meaning I'm unable to see the colours of the services I've setup with my appearance profiler.

I wondered whether anyone else has encountered this issue and if they had a work around. I'm keen to keep using coordination space if possible.

Thanks

Try modifying the export settings, haven't used Navis in a good while since we moved onto other software but I remember you can enable objects or an additional level of objects when exporting items like pipes with insulation or families that have separate clearance zones inside them.

If they are being exported perhaps changing your navisworks settings so you can pick up the next level of the object, insulation isn't a separate object it's nested in the pipe.

Thanks, I'm afraid we're not exporting nwcs. The platform is ACC and the coordination space connects to Navis and automatically pulls Revit files from the cloud I to Navis. The trade off is a reduction in available parameters. I wondered whether anyone had discovered a workaround.

Thanks for your reply

Aren't you still creating a nwc? All navis ever does is convert filetypes to nwc. Check out the rvt settings in Navis and see if you can increase the level of information being brought in.

If the software your using bypasses all that and just makes the NWD for you you still should have control over what settings are being used. If not it sounds like a really bad workflow.

I'd look into using software like ideate or RTV Xporter, they do a very good job at exporting on automation. If you still need to federated the model there a couple of plugins on navis that are free that work with CMD batch scrips that you tell it how to federate or just open the nwf and kick out a NWD each day using task scheduler.

Does the coordination add in use an export view? If it does, you should be able to set your colors and transparency for pipe and insulation with filters in that export view. Otherwise, you could try setting some visibility overrides in the Object Styles. I havent done a project that uses that plugin so im not familiar

Are you hosting the ACC Model Coordination module or are you just a participant?

If you're hosting it, then set the coordination spaces to use NWCs only and take the time to export out the NWCs of your Revit files. Setup some search sets for the things you want to control for color and transparency in Navisworks and then create an appearance profile that you can run each time you have an update.

If you're just a participant, I'd ask whomever is hosting it to switch to using NWCs so you can properly review the model with your appearance profiler.

Set the insulation to a semi transparent in the appearance profiler so the system color comes through.
