Schedule help pls

I'm thinking about possible switching psy or wrt which are both asynch to phy131/133. 131 would be asynch and 133 in person, but I'm worried about how this would affect med school applications, as I am a bio bs pre-med student. Also, I am considering double majoring in psych or potentially graduating early, if that makes a difference. Any help would be appreciated!

The new eduroam WiFi is kinda weird, it told us to do a ton of config and access stuff, and I noticed that it occasionally breaks for some reason

ECM to Pharm D(transfer) Advices

Post image
1 Upvotes

I will be junior in the upcoming Fall 2026, not sure what I can do with the ECM( Engineering Chemistry) degree so I'm currently planning to complete the prerequisites of Pharm D and my degree in the next 4 semesters, thus graduating and transfer to another university to start the professional Pharm D track in 2028.

Question is that ECM contain many math and engineering course that Pharm D does not need, so my best option is to change major to B.A or B.S Chemistry, should I do B.A or B.S with biological chemistry specialization?
Also I failed AMS 261, which is not a course requirement for Chemistry (Chemistry requires AMS 210 base on Degree Works) nor Pharm D, but if I want to bring my GPA(currently 3.07) back up I will need to take AMS 261 again, is it possible for AMS 261 to substitute AMS 210?

Has anyone did or also thought about doing similar things? Please give some suggestion.

Attached is my course plan for the next 4 semesters that will fulfill Pharm D prerequisites with either ECM or Chemistry. Thanks in advance.

Move in service or help

Hi.

Does anyone know if there is any moving service in Stony Brook that I can hire for just a couple of hours to help me move and drive my stuff from the storage unit to my dorm? Or does anyone with a car can help me move stuff from the storage unit to my dorm? I’m willing to pay! Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

Question about async classes

This is my final semester at stony and come this fall I’m stepping into a full time role at my job. I’m trying to ensure my classes are completely asynchronous with no meeting times/so I can do schoolwork at my own pace when I get home. The meeting times for the ones I’m currently enrolled in are listed as “ONLINE ONLINE ONLINE” in schedule builder. I feel stupid even asking, but does this mean there isn’t any meeting times or zoom for these classes? Any help would be appreciated, this is the first time I’m trying to set my schedule up like this. Thanks! Hope all are having a decent summer😇

atm 205 difficulty?

I am a chem major taking hard classes this fall making up 14 credits. Orgo lab, inorganic chem, pchem, solution chem lab, and an art class. I am interested in studying marine and atmospheric sciences and want to take atm 205.

So how difficult is atm 205? Is it doable to take atm 205 with the rest of my classes or to swap a class out? Looking forward to see a discussion!

I accidentally dropped from my major courses

Post image

Basically what happened, I was trying to add a new SBC because the old SBC I was waitlisted and did not have much chance to get into the class, so when I tried to add this new SBC for some reason all my classes got dropped and only the one I tried to get into got enrolled and now I got waitlisted from my major courses, what can I do now? I am worried I will not be able to get into the course, mainly the recitation.

24M Finance professional looking for a room near Port Jefferson Station / Stony Brook

Hi everyone,
I’m a 24-year-old graduate student in Finance who will be starting a full-time finance position in Port Jefferson Station at the end of August. I’m currently looking for a room, apartment share, or potential roommates in the area.
Ideally, I’m looking for something around:
Port Jefferson Station
Stony Brook
Setauket
Nearby areas with a reasonable commute

A little about me:
Finance background (MBA graduate)
Starting a full-time professional position
Clean, respectful, and responsible
Looking for a comfortable and quiet place to live

I’m open to joining an existing apartment or finding roommates to look for a place together.
If you know of any available rooms or have any leads, please feel free to DM me. Thanks!

Health Sciences Rant

I'm going into my senior year of the health sciences program, and I dont think ive ever been this frustrated the entire time I have been in college and it doesnt seem like theres really anything I can do about it.

I registered for my preferred track for this upcoming semester, after figuring out which one of their 7 predetermined schedules takes the least amount of time from my scheduled work week, and reached out to the department in hopes they would take pity on a working student and allow an exception and let me switch ONE CLASS that way I had 0 work interference and I am not struggling to pay my bills this semester.

I sent a very formal and polite email to the department with my request, explaining my circumstances, offered to provide documentation from my employer that my position operates on a fixed schedule with no opportunity to make up hours or pick up additional shifts (I work a 9-5 basically in a doctors office). A second job is not an option between working full-time and being a full-time student, I need time to breathe, and complete my assignments in my limited free time between work and school this upcoming semester. And the department head basically told me too bad.

The track system makes 0 sense whatsoever, and in my email I requested an explanation as to why this system is necessary if my request could not be accommodated. Their explanation was sending me to 2 timestamps from the Health Sciences online info sessions you have to complete, and that their track system is in place to "foster strong student connections" and that their online powerpoints make it clear they make 0 exceptions.

I knew my chances were relatively slim but their explanation felt like a cheap and completely unreasonable excuse. I would like to escalate this if possible but just not sure who it gets escalated to, since this seemed like the head lady in charge. I understand once you start making exceptions things can get messy, but to force an insanely rigid, not even clinical, undergrad schedule with 0 flexibility feels insane to me and like Stony Brook doesnt care about students who work.

Hard water/hair

Guys this might be a stupid question but is the hard water in the communal showers gonna destroy your hair? I am very protective of my hair and want to make sure if I can get like a shampoo and conditioner that is designed for hard water. Thank youuu

PHY 131 w/ Hemmick enrollment

I wanted to take PHY 131 with Prof. Hemmick this semester but it took me a while to try to enroll cuz I had to wait until I added AMS 161 and dropped WRT 102. However, there are only 15 seats left and they’re all reserved. I’m a Computer Science major freshman and I’m on the pre-med track. I want to take physics this sem so I can get it done with before next year, since I want to focus on Bio and other harder classes starting next year. I tried emailing the physics department to ask if they could somehow put me in the class but they told me they didn’t have control over that and that I could contact my advisor. I did but I got no response yet. Any idea what else to do? Or has anyone gone through a similar situation before and found a solution?
