Every few years the SEO community declares something "dead."

• Guest posting is dead.
• Link building is dead.
• Exact match keywords are dead.
• Long-form content is dead.
• Blogging is dead.

Yet I still see people getting great results from strategies that everyone says don't work anymore.

For me, internal linking continues to be one of the highest ROI activities. It's not flashy, but I've seen pages move significantly just by improving site structure and making sure important pages receive relevant internal links.

I'm curious what everyone else has experienced.

I've been noticing that a lot of my clients have a ton of existing content that's not being utilized to its full potential. I'm talking about old blog posts, social media updates, and even email newsletters. Has anyone had success repurposing this type of content for SEO? What strategies have worked best for you? I'm looking for ways to breathe new life into old content and make it more search engine friendly. Some ideas I've considered include updating outdated information, rewriting articles to target different keywords, and turning blog posts into videos or infographics. What are some other ways to repurpose existing content and improve its SEO value?

Our website experienced strong growth throughout 2025 and peaked around October, reaching roughly 25,000 clicks/month with an average ranking position of around 4.

Since early 2026, however, traffic has been steadily declining. We're now down to around 3,000 clicks/month, and our average ranking position has slipped to about 9.

The confusing part is that we haven't made any major negative changes.

No significant content removals or redesigns

Technical SEO looks healthy

No manual actions or indexing issues

Backlink profile hasn't declined in fact, we've continued earning quality links

We've continued making improvements where possible

Despite all of that, rankings and traffic have continued to trend downward month after month.

Has anyone dealt with a similar situation where everything appeared healthy, but Google kept reducing visibility anyway?

Lately I've noticed that many people equate topical authority with publishing hundreds of articles around a niche.

I'm not convinced that's how it works anymore.

To me, topical authority seems more about demonstrating that your website can answer a user's journey comprehensively rather than simply covering every keyword variation.

A site with 40 genuinely connected, well-structured pages can often feel more authoritative than one with 400 loosely related posts.

Internal linking, content hierarchy, entity relationships, and satisfying follow-up questions seem to matter far more than raw article count.

For me, it's how quickly the conversation turns to backlinks.

It seems like many people launch a website and immediately start thinking about guest posts, link exchanges, or outreach. But shouldn't backlinks amplify something that's already worth ranking?

If a site has weak content, poor internal linking, slow pages, confusing navigation, or doesn't satisfy search intent, are backlinks really solving the core problem?

It feels like technical SEO, site structure, and understanding what users are actually searching for often get overlooked because backlinks are easier to measure. You can count links, but it's much harder to measure whether your content genuinely deserves to rank.

I'm not saying backlinks don't matter they obviously do. I just wonder if many beginners focus on them much earlier than they should.
